“Amara, baby, I love you.”

“Me too, but we can’t, not here baby…”

*****

Okay, now this was what happened at the start of chapter three. Our Amara and Antonio have been dating for months and both had professed their love to one another in one of their sexy make-out session.

She had introduced him to daddy dearest, and he was actually approving her relationship with the Italian business mogul. Everything was going great for her, and when things were too good to be true sometimes bad things were lurking behind the happy couple.

“Okay… but when we get back, you are going to be ravished.” He whispered in her ear while caressing her ass then give it a sexy squeeze.

“Antonio!” She warned him but liking his attention towards her.

But then both were interrupted by Peter, who awkwardly clear his throat announcing his arrival in her office.

“Boss, your father is waiting for both of you. Mr. Russo, you will be joining him on his jet, I’ve already contacted your assistant and canceled your flight. Mr. Hamilton said he would like to talk before the meeting in Zurich.”

Amara sighed knowing that her dad had taken a like to Antonio, and was actually finding his business inputs brilliant. Well, if you compare our sexy Italian with her corporate climbing stepbrothers, he was far ahead of them.

Antonio nodded and kissed her chastely on the lips then ushered her to her dad’s office while leaving Peter looking dreamy at them by her office door.

“Amara, my beautiful daughter… are you sure you’re not coming with us?”

“Dad, I have to get your other meeting done. Don’t tell me you want Colton to go solo on your third biggest company board meeting?”

“He can be a bit too carried away sometimes, just make sure to get legal and the head of the marketing team, meet with them, and get…”

“It’s taken care of dad, you will get the final report by tomorrow. I’m meeting them in a couple of more hours, and with the new guy from our public relations too…”

They kept on talking business for another hour, where Antonio would look at Amara with full adoration as she showed her business smart and sexiness. And that look didn’t skip her father’s, and he relaxed knowing he was glad that Amara had found someone who appreciated her for who she is.

“I’m sorry we couldn’t have your usual birthday lunch, we will do it when I get back okay?”

“Dad, we have had breakfast earlier and you need to close this deal. I’m not a kid anymore.”

“Sometimes I wish you still are, you’re growing too fast and now I have to share your love with another man.”

“Dad… I love you more…” she kissed his cheek and hugged him warmly, then did the same to Antonio.

“You take care of my dad for me… I love you…”

“I will baby, love you too. I’ll call you when we landed.”

They parted as she escorts the two men to the elevator where they both would go straight to the rooftop and get a helicopter ride to the airport to catch a flight in the private jet that has been waiting for their departure to Zurich.

She was back to her working mode the moment Peter came up to her with a cup of steaming black coffee.

“They’re waiting for you in meeting room one, and Colton’s assistant said that he’s going to be late for the meeting.”

She was walking with Peter to the meeting room when there was a loud blasting sound that made the whole building shook as if there was an earthquake, and in seconds security guards stormed in her way. They quickly grabbed her arm, forcing her to come with them.

Peter was yelling to one of the guys, making them take him along to a secret elevator Amara didn’t even know existed. She was panicking but she knew the head of the security guy and in seconds she was trying to calm herself down.

“What is going on Rick?” she asked panting while her heart beats so fast as the effect of the loud blast kept on ringing in her ear.

“Your father’s helicopter exploded. We’re taking all the necessary precautions until we determine the exact cause of the blast, we’re…”

Her feet were lifeless, she slumped to Peter as he holds her in his arms strangely calmer than she was.

“What does that mean Rick?! are they okay? Both her men are in that chopper! I should check, you take Amara, I’ll check on her Father and Russo.”

“Peter! This is the protocol since you insisted on going with her, then you will go with her there’s no turning back. Not now, we have men investigating the scene…”

Amara was listening to the conversation in bits while her world crumbled down in seconds. Her tears fall as she suffocates from the worries and the great panic. And in that exact moment, she grabbed her dearest assistant and sobbed so hard while she prayed for both of their lives.

“I’m here boss, you are strong. You will get through this.”

After the elevator, everything was a blur to her. Peter kept his hold on her, as Rick drive them away from the building. She could see chaos as people were exiting the building. The sky was grey, tinted with heavy smoke that blew harshly from the strong wind.

It was seconds but time seems to stand still, and the silence was so loud that she couldn’t hear anything else. At the same time, she looked up and was mesmerized by the could of smoke visible from the top of her father’s office building.

Her mind wanders as she still remembered her father’s warm hug, and how she could still feel Antonio’s goodbye kiss.

“Amara, my condolences. My men had confirmed to me that there was no survivor in the accident. I have specific instruction from your father to protect you at all cost should something happened to him…”

She couldn’t process his words, and all her thoughts were back to the two men who she loves dearly. She couldn’t believe that it was only hours ago that she had her birthday breakfast with her father, that it was hours ago when she woke up in Antonio’s arms.

And now… both of them had gone.

“How? is this an accident?”

“My team is working on it, we will find out soonest.”

Rick, his father’s trusted bodyguard insisted on taking her back to her father’s house, saying it was safer to be with her family.

“Rick, you know I don’t get along with them. Now that my father’s…”

She shook her head while wiping her tears repeatedly. Peter never leave her side, knowing that she needed him more than ever.

“Please give me the preliminary before my family. And get Bradley involved, tell him to keep this from the rest of my family. For now. Peter, you have the lawyer’s number…” her voice was croaked as she instructed Rick to keep everything quiet from her stepfamily and organized everything with Bradley and Peter would assist him.

She was not naive thinking that her father didn’t have any enemies, but there were too many ifs and she was too sad to even think about the possibilities.

It felt like hours until she was finally left alone in her bedroom. Peter and two of Rick’s best men stayed guarding her at the penthouse.

“Amara, please drink this. You should rest tomorrow will be a very long day.”

Peter entered her bedroom with a glass of water and her sleeping pills.

“Please reply to my family, I don’t want to deal with them. Not now…” she handed him her phone while she took the pill and washed it down with the glass of water.

Peter nodded and took her phone, then leave his boss’s room after turning off the light, hoping that she would drown her sadness until she has to deal with it again tomorrow.

He had never seen someone take a really big fall that he wished all of this was his freaking nightmare.
