Natalie was a great actress. However, Madelyn thought her
manipulative skills were mediocre compared to Elena’s.
The latter had a knack for bending the Miller and Garcia families to her will. Had Madelyn not caught Elena off guard, she wouldn’t have so easily fallen into her current predicament.
After placing the phone back on the coffee table, Madelyn returned to her book, trying to maintain a facade of normalcy.
Just then, the office door swung open again. Madelyn kept her head down, assuming someone was delivering some documents. However, the person stood in front of her.
Madelyn looked up when she saw a pair of impeccably polished leather shoes before her.
“Did you really reconcile with him?” Easton’s voice carried a tinge of sadness.
Madelyn used to not visit Andrew’s office before. But lately, she had been accompanying him to various events and even dropping by his workplace.
Madelyn closed the book she was holding and glared at the man. before her. Memories of Easton’s ruthlessness in her previous life flashed before her eyes.
Before Madelyn could speak, Easton continued, “He’s not a good man. I advise you to leave him as soon as possible. If you regret it, my previous offer still stands. I’ve made the arrangements abroad.”
“Do you dare to say that in front of Andrew?” Madelyn retorted.
Easton’s expression hardened, a flash of anger igniting in his eyes.
Madelyn let out a chuckle. She couldn’t remember how she had fallen In love with Easton in her previous life.
Easton was clearly in cahoots with Elena. Madelyn didn’t seem to have memories of them. It was as though she was hit on the head and suffered from selective amnesia.
After a brief contemplation, Easton regained his composure, “Maddie, this is not the time to be angry with me.”
“Who’s angry with you?”
Suddenly, a stern voice echoed from the doorway. It was Andrew.
Easton froze. Madelyn looked past him and saw Andrew standing at the door.
Had Easton not closed the door when he entered earlier? No wonder he was in cahoots with Elena. Was he trying to have someone from the secretary department overhear and spread the word to Andrew?
Fortunately, Andrew had heard it himself. Who knew what might have. happened if it had been relayed through the secretary?
Madelyn raised an eyebrow at Easton. A mischievous glint flashed in her eyes as she observed his beaten demeanor. “What were you saying just now? Who was the arrangement abroad for?”
Easton stiffened, and his face was pale. Madelyn looked at his cowardly appearance and became even more certain she couldn’t have loved this useless man in her previous life.
What had gone wrong? No matter how hard Madelyn tried to think, she couldn’t remember.
The glint in Madelyn’s eyes faded, and she sneered. “Speak up! Are you a mute? Repeat what you just said to me in front of Andrew!”
Easton was so scared that his knees shook. He turned around and

said, “I won’t disturb you two. I’ll leave now.”
With that, he quickly turned and left without looking back.
Madelyn felt disgusted when she thought about how she had been in a relationship with someone like this in her previous life.
Andrew came in and closed the door behind him. He looked slightly happy while asking, “What did he say to you?”
Madelyn replied, “He said that as long as I leave you, his previous offer still stands, and everything has been arranged for me abroad.”
After she repeated Easton’s promise to Andrew, Andrew’s face darkened visibly.
Madelyn took his hand and said, “His goal is to anger you so that you would argue with me. He wants to distract you from managing the company.”
After a short pause, she added, “He probably doesn’t have the scheming mind or ability to do this. It must be Elijah’s idea.”
Madelyn recalled Carrie’s earlier words and felt the need to remind Andrew.
Easton had been in Felasko for many years, and Elijah was there, too.
In the past, Madelyn had been with the Miller family for ten years. Only Grace and her family treated Madelyn well, while the rest of Andrew’s uncles were cruel.
She had no idea what Andrew had gone through to gain control of the Miller family, but she knew it hadn’t been easy.
