Redmption 75
Redmption 75
I said something to make her give up completely. “Well, what can I say? I’m a material girl. Even if he looks like Adonis himself, if he’s not rich, he’s not my type.”
Brandon looked over right as I finished that sentence. He seemed to have heard me. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
didn’t avoid his gaze. After all, a relationship was impossible between us. It was good for him to quickly get rid of any ideas he was having.
I wasn’t stupid. His “accidental” touches and the medicine he had helped spray for me earlier today were clear signs that he at least found me attractive.
“You’re so shallow, Maddie,” Kara said exasperatedly.
I didn’t reply, and I didn’t look at Brandon again.
Kara’s phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and said, “It’s Mr. Yates.”
Gordon?
“Yes. Yes, hi. We’re at the parent–children area in Zone A of the amusement park. Is there something you need?” Kara answered.
She paused and then continued, “Okay. See you soon,” Kara said before hanging up and looking at me. “Mr. Yates said he’s here to talk to you.”
Gordon was looking for me?
I didn’t know what he could possibly have to talk to me about. It wasn’t going
to be about Chris again, was it?
On second thought, I had just told Chris to leave me alone this morning. So, he probably wouldn’t be foolish enough to ask Gordon to find me so soon.
Soon enough, Gordon arrived with a thermos for me. “Ms. Crown, this is from Mrs. Gildon. It’s some anti–inflammatory tea.”
Bree?
We were no longer in contact, so there was no way she would have known that I was dehydrated unless Chris had told her.
If Chris was the one who had it sent to me, I would have asked Gordon to take it away, but I couldn’t do that since Bree was the one who had made it.
“Alright, thank you!” I said as I took it from him.
Gordon didn’t leave immediately. He seemed to have something to say. I knew he felt bad about bringing me to Dazzle Residences, so I said, “Don’t think too much about things, Mr. Yates.”
“Ms. Crown, 1-”
“It has nothing to do with you. If you keep making more problems for yourself, I won’t be able to help you.”
I believed that I had made myself clear enough, so all Gordon could say in reply was, “Please make sure you drink the tea Ms. Crown. It’s particularly effective.”
As he walked away, Kara cockily said, “Maddie, I bet Mr. Gildon was the one who wanted to send it.”
I knew that well enough.
“He’s clearly not ready to let you go. I bet he wants to keep you on his roster,” Kara said cleverly.
I smiled bitterly. He couldn’t always get what he wanted.
Our lunch still wasn’t here yet, so I decided to have some tea. I called out to Brandon, “Do you want some?”
“No, thank you.” His reply was firm.
I didn’t press any further. I shared some with Kara, but before we were done with our mugs of tea, Kara elbowed me again. “Maddie! Here comes another fine specimen!”
I was no longer surprised by her little outbursts, but I still looked at where she was pointing.
I was taken aback by who I was. It was Conrad.
He smiled at me brightly. His smile was as bright as the warm afternoon sun. Are you really okay with just having tea for lunch?”
As he spoke, I noticed that he was holding a lunchbox. “My mom made some
ravioli. It has your favorite filling.”
“Why did Mrs. Gildon have to have the tea and ravioli sent separately?” Not only was Kara not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes, but she spoke faster than her mind could keep up.
Conrad didn’t understand. “What?”
I finally understood that the tea wasn’t from Bree at all. Chris had made Gordon
lie to me.
He was probably afraid that I would throw it away if I knew that it was from him. “Nothing. I was craving some ravioli, actually,” I said as I took the lunchbox from him and opened it. Immediately, the savory smell of ravioli entered my
nose.
Even though my mouth was still aching, I really craved it. I picked one up and put it into my mouth. The filling made my ulcers smart painfully, and the grease from the ravioli leaked out from the side of my mouth.
Conrad reached out and wiped the corner of my mouth with his thumb.
Brandon’s cold and deep voice suddenly rang out, “Your ulcers haven’t healed yet, and you didn’t even wash your hands. Do you want your ulcers to stay forever?”
