Redmption 308

What a silly question! Who in their right mind would tolerate being lied to? I stared at Brandon and probed, "Why do you ask? Are you planning to lie to before saying slowly, "No."

I couldn't tell if he meant it, but I made my stance on lying very clear. "Brandon, I don't tolerate lies."

He swallowed. "Got it."

Now that I had drawn the line, he could not blame me for any ultimatum I might throw if I caught him lying to me one day.

At

that moment, an announcement came on at the boarding hall, reporting that one of the international flights was ready for boarding. I immediately thougFrom NôvelDrama.Org.

Why would he go abroad? Was it a business trip or something else?

"Mae, we have to go," Brandon prompted, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, right," I said, snapping back to reality as I glanced at him.

I couldn't help feeling uneasy. The last thing I wanted was for Brandon to accuse me of stealing glances at Chris, even if my concern for the latter was not out of love but curiosity.

However, if Brandon had caught me looking at Chris, he did not comment. That made me feel even more uneasy, and guilt made me reach for his han We went through security and boarded the plane without a hitch. Before turning off my phone for the flight, I saw a new text that went unread. It was fr

I remembered how I used to send him the same text every time he went on a business trip, though I stopped after he

came home one day and disparaged me for it. "Can't you switch up the way you text every once in a while?

"Safe flight seems a little lazy and tacky after a while. Don't bother texting if you can't think of something clever or creative."

I hadn't sent him anything since.

Safe flight. The words sprang up from the screen at me. Granted, it was one of the most common well wishes one could offer a traveling loved one, but it contained my greatest wish.

Since my parents' accident, I had feared saying goodbye to the people around me. I didn't want to say goodbye to them, believing that if I did, I might never see them again.

And yet, Chris had dismissed my messages with outright contempt. So, I stopped sending him the text before his trips.

Who would've thought he would throw the same words back at me after so long?

It was so ironic that I ignored it and turned off my phone. Brandon followed suit, so solemn and quiet that I wondered what was on his mind.

I leaned my head against his shoulder and murmured, "Safe flight, Brandon."

He beamed and rubbed his cheek against the top of my head. "Safe flight."

"There's something I haven't told you, Brandon," I began carefully. I could never keep a secret, and there were a few things I figured I ought to I I talk to him about. I couldn't expect him to be honest with me if didn't do the same.

"All right. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," Brandon said to keep me from feeling uneasy or jittery.

I huffed. "But I want to tell you now."

"Then I'm all ears," he declared.

I could have laughed at him. “Do you know what you're like, Brandon?"

"What?"

"You're like a solid rock. Nothing ever fazes you or knocks you down," I said, my words making his lips curl in amusement.

"You know, if you wanted to knock

me down, I'd happily stay beneath you," Brandon teased, fixing his gaze on me. I did not miss the wicked humorin his eyes and found myself thinking about the unspeakable things we did the other night.
