Love's Redemption

Redmption 252

Redmption 252

“Ms. Crown, please sign for your flowers,” the courier said as he handed me the flowers he was holding.

It was a bouquet of white roses. These were my favorite flowers, and only someone who knew me well

would know that.

The first person I thought was Chris. He always gave me white roses for my birthdays and white lilies on ordinary days. But today wasn’t my birthday, so I was confused about this sudden gift.

While I was still in a daze, the courier raised the bouquet in front of me again. I had no choice but to accept the flowers from him as he panted, eager to fulfill his next delivery.

“Who sent them? Your boyfriend?” Xander appeared behind me, as usual.

Just as I was about to deny it, a card that had been hidden in the flowers fell out. Xander was just like a model of kindness. He bent down to pick it up for me and handed it back.

The card read, “Madeline, I hope you have a great day.”

The word “Madeline” made my scalp tingle, and Yerick’s smirking face flashed before my eyes. I never expected it to be from him. I wondered how he knew I liked white roses.

After a brief moment of contemplation, I realized the answer. It must have been Jewel who told him

A surge of frustration welled up in my chest. So, this woman was so afraid that I would compete with her for a man that she sent her brother to pursue me.

I wondered if she didn’t worry that I might actually agree and make things more awkward for her.

“Who sent these?” Xander buzzed around like a curious bee.

Although I was sure Xander had no romantic intentions toward me, he was definitely interested in my personal life. So, I decided to play along and smiled mischievously.

“A young and attractive one.”

“Uh?” Xander was momentarily stunned.

I ignored his shocked expression and walked into my office.

“Wow! Ms. Crown, your boyfriend had great taste. The flowers are beautiful.”

“Ms. Crown, you really are different, liking white roses.”

The colleagues continued with their teasing, and I responded with a mild smile. “If I didn’t have good taste, I wouldn’t be working with you all.”

My diplomatic remark flattered them and quieted them down, sending them back to their tasks. Once inside my office, I set the bouquet on the couch. I held the card and glanced at the number deliberately included on it.

I thought this had to be an invitation to call and berate him. He was utterly audacious. He even left a phone number as if he was eager to be scolded.

But if he wanted to be scolded, I wasn’t going to waste my breath giving him that satisfaction.

1 tossed the card into the trash can. Then, I opened my computer to start working, and my phone buzzed. It was a message from Brandon.

“Busy?”

The text was as succinct as if he were speaking in person, not wasting a single word.

I leaned back in my chair and replied, “Not really.”

Brandon quickly responded, “What are you doing now?”

I replied, “Sending you a message.”

Brandon responded with an ellipsis. He was speechless. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

I asked, “Is something up?”

He replied, “Nothing.”

I was at a loss for how to respond. Receiving a message with no real reason behind it–this was something I understood well from past relationships. It meant he missed me.

The smell of romance was so strong and unmistakable. That was just the beginning of the relationship.

Brandon asked, “Is there anything happening at work today?”

I frowned. Just as I was about to reply with a “no“, my eyes fell on the roses on the sofa.

I snapped a photo and sent it. “Do they look nice?”

Brandon asked, “Where did they come from?”

I could almost picture him frowning as he typed those words. I couldn’t help but smile slightly as I replied, “Someone sent them.”
