Love's Redemption

Redmption 248

Redmption 248

Eden tossed the question back at me. “What do you think?”

I smiled faintly and said, “Then I’ll take my leave.” With that, I returned the bouquet to him.

Eden raised his hand, but he didn’t take the flowers. Instead, he plucked a petal and smelled it. “So, what exactly do you need to see my dad for?”

His question made me frown slightly, I wondered if he was changing his mind.

Previously, when I mentioned needing to see his father for an appraisal, he seemed to think it was a treasure. Now, it seemed he understood I had other reasons.

Since I was already here, there was no point in hiding anything. I decided to be honest and recount everything.

Eden listened, then said with a serious tone, “In that case, you should leave.”

I felt something was off, “Why?”

“If you’re here to see my dad about this matter, it will be pointless. You won’t get any answers from him. He won’t tell you anything.” Eden said as if he knew his father well.

If everything was normal and there was nothing to hide, then there shouldn’t be anything that couldn’t be said.

But if he refused to talk, it meant that there was something wrong. That only made me more determined to meet him and get to the bottom of it.

“What if I insist? Maybe Mr. Arthur has nothing to hide?” I persisted.

Eden shook his head slightly. He looked at me with a sense of helplessness. “You’re really stubborn. Alright. I’ll call my dad first. If he agrees to meet you, I’ll take you in.”

With that, Eden took out his phone. Then, he dialed a number and set it to speakerphone.

“What’s up?” Arthur’s gruff voice came from the other end.

“It’s nothing. I just wanted to bring someone, a woman, to see you,” Eden said. He avoided mentioning my identity directly.

“Don’t bring any random women to upset me.” Arthur’s voice grew harsh.

Eden looked at me with a smirk and said, “I wouldn’t bring anyone who would offend you. She’s a very good girl.”

Arthur fell silent on the phone, and my breath tightened.

Just as I hoped he might agree, he said, “Let’s do it another day. I have important guests today.”

“Then we’ll go in and wait for you. We can see you once you’re done,” Eden said. Although his manner was

a bit off, his words were quite touching me. He was really trying his best to help me.

“Do

you not understand what I’m saying?” Arthur snapped before abruptly ending the call.

Eden shrugged at me with a “don’t blame me look.

1 looked at the gate barred by a railing. I wondered what kind of important guests could be so significant

that Arthur wouldn’t even see his own son.

As I was lost in thought, something flashed before my eyes. I realized it was Eden’s hand waving in front

of me.

“Are you plarining to climb over the fence or something?”

I pursed my lips. “Do you know who Mr. Arthur is meeting today?”

They were father and son, the closest of relationships in the world. From what Eden had previously said, it was clear he knew some things about Arthur.

“Ha ha.” Eden chuckled. “I don’t know about that. My dad’s life revolves around money and friends.”

His humblebrag was quite something, but I could tell Eden didn’t want to share more.

Just then, his phone rang. After glancing at the caller ID, Eden looked at me and said, “Derick knows you’re here to see me?”

It seemed the call was from Derick. Since Eden hadn’t answered it, I wondered how he knew Derick’s call was related to me..

I forced a smile and remained silent. In response, Eden’s eyes darkened. He didn’t answer Derick’s call and hung up immediately.

My heart skipped a beat. This action would definitely made Derick think something was wrong and prompt him to call me. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
