Redmption 215
Redmption 215
During my visit to Brandon’s house, I knew Ellie had probably told him everything,
“If you like it there, maybe in the future…” Brandon paused and left the sentence unfinished.
I smiled. “What’s with the future?”
Brandon’s Adam’s apple bobbed again. “You could retire there in the future.”
“Just me?” The words slipped out before I could stop them.
“I could join you if you’d like.” Brandon didn’t beat around the bush.
However, I hesitated. The future was so uncertain, and growing old together felt so far away.
“I’ve found a specialist for Ellie. Can you give me her medical records?” I shifted the topic.
Last night, I criticized Lisa for being a coward, but wasn’t I the same? I am acting a little cowardly, but I had another motive too. I wanted to keep Brandon on his toes.
Lisa once said that Chris treated me indifferently and never took me seriously because he had gotten me too easily. People have always undervalued what comes too easily.
It was like a piece of fruit. If it was gifted by someone, people might toss it aside without a second thought. However, if it was bought by them, they would likely eat it, even if it didn’t taste quite right.
Brandon remained silent. I remembered what Ellie said and knew he was probably worried..
“I’ll have someone look at her records first to assess the surgical risks. Then, you can decide whether or not to proceed.” I left the decision up to him.
“I had already consulted someone. Ellie’s surgical risk is high. Her surgery is far riskier than typical heart surgeries because of her rare blood type. Plus…” Brandon paused. “She has other health issues too.”
I was taken aback. Ellie only mentioned her blood type, not any other conditions.
“What other issues?” I asked.
I needed to know everything in order to make sure the doctors could properly assess her situation.
Brandon had taken a few steps to the side and gripped the ralling. I followed him and noticed the heavy expression on his face. My heart tightened. “Brandon…
“She had a brainstem glioma,” Brandon said in a low voice. “And it was inoperable.”
Although I wasn’t well–versed in medical terms, I knew that having something in her brain wasn’t a good sign.
? Or was it.” NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
I looked at Brandon’s stern face and struggled to find the right words. “When did you find out? Or
“She was born with it,” Brandon said.
Ellie was born with a heart condition and brainstem glioma. It seemed like this angelic girl’s fate had been sealed from the moment she was born.
“The doctors say she won’t live past 20, Brandon said with a voice so low it made it hard to breathe.
suddenly remembered that I didn’t ask Ellie about her age during the past few days. I looked at Brandon’s side profile. “How old is she now?”
“19,” Brandon replied..
That meant Ellie only had one year left. I was shocked.) couldn’t fathom how such a vibrant and energetic girl had such little time left in this world.
“It can’t be true. Ellie looks healthier than any of us.” I refused to accept the harsh truth.
Brandon’s expression turned grim. “No one wishes more than I do for her to live a long life. If I could, I would give her my own life to extend hers.”
My heart ached at his words. I stepped closer, reaching out to his wrist. I wanted to say something but the words wouldn’t come.
Finally, I tugged at him gently. When he turned to face me, I wrapped my arms around him to hug him.
