Redmption 207
Redmption 207
It was the perfect place for a destination holiday.
As I lost myself in a daydream, someone asked, “Who are you looking for, Miss?”
I turned, seeing a girl in a white dress. Her braided hair rested against her chest. Her eyes sparkled, as if they were made of the river.
“Are you Miss Howell?” I asked.
Surprise crossed her face. “Yes. Are you here for my brother?”
Once she said that, I knew for certain that she was Brandon’s sister. To be frank, they didn’t look anything. alike, but both of them were stunning. Brandon’s charm belonged to that of a masculine warrior, while his sister shared the soft ethereal features of a fairy.
“Yes. I’m his friend, Mae.” I extended my hand toward her.
She was stunned for a moment. Then, she shook it. “I’m Ellie.”
She looked pleasantly surprised and timid. I smiled. “May I come in?”
Ellie came to her senses and let go of my hand, ushering me in as she mumbled to herself, “He didn’t even give me a heads up. I haven’t cleaned up or anything.”
“He didn’t know I was coming. I came here behind his back.” My words took her by surprise, I winked at her. “Don’t tell him.”
Ellie froze for a moment, then nodded. I was looking around the yard, taking everything in greedily. My adoration for it grew by the second.
“Sit anywhere you like, Mae. I’ll make you a cup of tea. Ellie was a warm host.
I didn’t want to tire her out. “It’s alright. I’m not thirsty.”
She smiled sweetly, going into the house. Soon after, she took out a little teapot and a small tray of dried flowers.
The teapot she was using was a design that was released earlier this year. I smiled. “Did your brother buy that?”
“Yes. He really cares about me a lot. He’d give me all the best things that the world has to offer.” Ellie smiled proudly as she said that.
She sat down to make the tea, looking out the yard. “He built the yard for me. He said that it would be good for my condition.”
I was
was shocked. The yard definitely took considerable energy and care to make.
Brandon evidently loved his sister very much.
“The water in this tea is from the river. I froze it after collecting it. The tea tastes better when it’s made from the river’s water.” She handed me a glass jar.
I touched it. It was cold.

I knew it was hard for her to collect water from the river. But despite that, she was using it to make tea for me. I could tell that she liked me.

I liked her, too. It was an instantaneous thing.
Sometimes, you were able to tell within a glance if someone would get along with you. Ellie was someone
like that.
“You’re really pretty,” Ellie said. She was beautiful, inside and out.
“You’re prettier than I am. You’re like a fairy that lives in the woods,” I said, unable to stop myself from praising her.
She smiled shyly. She blinked, saying, “Are
you my brother’s girlfriend?”
Eager anticipation filled her eyes. She would be disappointed if I denied it.
As I was about to answer, she said, “You’re my brother’s first female friend. You must be his girlfriend. If not, he wouldn’t tell you where I lived.”
Ellie’s words made me stunned. Had Brandon anticipated that I’d come here? Had I walked right into another one of his traps?
But this trap didn’t make me feel annoyed at all. In fact, I felt rather happy.
I was happy to meet Ellie and see this beautiful oasis outside of the city.
“Yes, I am. Do you like your sister–in–law?” I answered her question unabashedly, looking at her eagerly.
