As I woke up that morning, Brandon was still lingering in my mind from the dream. It was the second time he had appeared in my dreams, making me wonder if our paths had crossed before.

“Sure, sure!” Kara replied unabashedly.

I left for the bathroom, with Kara sighing behind me. “Well, yeah. After all those years with Mr. Gildon, it’s not easy to move on, right?”

I let out a mocking chuckle without responding to her question.

After getting ready, Kara and I were about to get breakfast, only to bump into Brandon right outside.

He wore camo pants and a black t–shirt, looking ruggedly handsome.

Suddenly, I felt a bit flushed.

“Mr. Howell, why aren’t you at work early today?” Kara was always quick to speak her mind.

Brandon glanced at me and replied, “Just didn’t feel like it.”

Kara was taken aback but quickly chuckled. “Well, then, let’s grab breakfast together. Afterward, we can go to work together.”

Brandon remained silent, and I cringed inwardly on behalf of Kara.

She crossed my arms and suggested, “Maddie, you can drop us off at the amusement park later and go back to work.”
