Love’s Final Reveal

Chapter 9

“Layla, kill them!”

A chilling voice echoed in her mind, and Lola suddenly opened her eyes.

Who was it?‘

“Layla, look at them. They will snap your neck, drain your blood, eat your flesh, and crush your bones. You must kill them to survive. Be good, kill them, and you will see your Scott again.

“Kill them…”

The grave voice resounded in Lola’s mind, turning her despairing eyes into a chilling, bloodthirsty crimson.

The man on top of her was fervently kissing her neck while urgently pulling at her pants. But the moment his hand touched her waistband. Lola who had been pinned to the ground sprang up, her torn clothes instantly mended.

Lola landed on her feet, but due to the blow to her calf just now, she knelt on the ground with a thud.

“Kill them. It’s the only way to survive and escape!”

Lola repeated the voice in her mind.

She slowly stood up from the ground, her gaze cold as she stared at the men in front of her.

They hadn’t anticipated her breaking free from the grip of four burly men. Now, with her long hair flowing, her eyes a fiery red, and her stare chillingly cold, Lola looked like a specter from the depths

of hell, paralyzing them with fear.

The man who had been recording the video also froze for a moment, swallowing nervously before speaking urgently.

Just kill her. She can’t go back alive!”

Though gripped by fear, a few men gathered their courage to grab sticks from the ground and rush towards Lola.

As the sticks swung towards her, Lola almost instinctively fought back. Her movements were fierce and lethal, making it impossible for the attackers to get close. She looked down at her hands in surprise. These actions were unfamiliar, yet somehow etched in her muscle memory.

While Lola was still in a daze, a stick struck her hard on the back, forcing a gush of fresh blood from her mouth. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

She brushed the blood away from her lips.

Deep in her memory, a voice urged her to kill them, but her movements were still somewhat rigid. She realized she was no match for the men and that once her strength was exhausted, she would face the same fate as before.

Noticing a nearby window, Lola made a split–second decision and hurtled towards it. Her whole body slammed into the fragile pane. Weakened by years and battered by countless storms, the window gave way under Lola’s desperate force, and she cascaded outside.

It was dark outside. Lola found herself in a neighborhood, its quiet houses nestled among dense woods.

Hearing the stir of her pursuers, she darted into the woods.

That night, Lola never stopped. Dragging one leg, she limped through the pitch–dark forest, falling several times and getting back up each time. Her body ached all over, but she couldn’t pinpoint the pain. It was somewhere on her body.. yet also deep in her heart.

The pursuit behind her continued relentlessly, with occasional barks echoing through the night.

Only as dawn broke did Lola find a highway. Her clothes were stained with blood from cuts in her legs and arms likely caused by the glass as she escaped through the window the night before.

The sun rose, and Lola found herself fully exposed to the sunlight.

“There she is! Go get her!”

Voices of several men echoed from afar. Lola glanced back and immediately ran towards the mountain.

She instinctively chose the direction where the sun was rising. Perhaps she was chasing the light, or maybe she was longing for its warmth on this chilly morning, or even a new beginning

The people behind her trailed at a steady pace with their dog, neither too close nor too distant. Lola wondered if their night–long chase had drained their energy or if there was some other reason for their behavior. Something felt off. As the sun rose from the horizon, casting a soft morning light on the edge of a cliff, she stopped.

Lola looked down at the vast ocean beneath the cliff, then turned to confront the crowd closing in on her.

Seven or eight men, armed with sticks and rods, slowly closed in, seemingly already aware of the cliff ahead. One of them even had a wolf–dog on a leash.

“You surely can run. We’ve been chasing you all night!”

A few steps away from Lola, they stopped. One of them spat on the ground and cursed.

The man who had been recording with a camera the previous night checked his watch and suddenly smiled, turning to Lola. “Ms. Mitchell, we’ve got no beef with you. I’m okay to let you go. How about this? Give Dominick a call. If he’s willing to come get you, you’re free to go.”

With that, he nonchalantly tossed a cell phone at her feet.

Though not understanding their ploy, Lola still picked up the phone with fingers whose nails were already broken and bleeding. She winced in pain as she dialed a number deeply etched in her mind.

The monotonous ring soon gave way to a voice she knew too well.

“Hello.”

Lola’s eyes reddened as she spoke, her voice choked with emotion. “Dom, I’ve been abducted. They say they’ll release. me if you come

“I’m busy.”

Dominick’s indifferent and merciless words hit Lola hard. Before she could respond, Jessica’s voice came through the phone.

“Dominick, hurry up, the plane is about to take off!”

The call ended abruptly, leaving Lola in stunned silence. She stared blankly for a moment before redialing the number. He was her only hope of survival. If he agreed to come for her, she could live. But the first call was disconnected after two rings.

Lola tried again, only to be met with a cold message this time.

[Hello, the number you have dialed is now switched off.]

“Oh! I forgot to tell you, Ms. Moore is deeply depressed due to her tragic miscarriage, so Dominick is taking her abroad for a change of scene.”

The man’s voice drifted over from nearby.

The phone slipped from her grasp and crashed to the ground with a thud. Tears blurred her vision. Suddenly, Lola laughed, a wild, unrestrained laugh. She raised her head, her eyes sweeping over the group in front of her. Without waiting for their reactions, she dashed towards the edge of the cliff and leaped off!

‘Dominick, I hate you!

A gentle breeze stirred up dust and brought with it a bone–chilling coldness…
