“Robin! How’s the situation with the Police Chief?” he asked through a phone call to check the status of the staged accident case involving Mahya.

“Negative, Boss! The Police Chief cut off communication with us. The higher-ups have intervened!”

“W-what?!” Seno became even more enraged and slammed his phone. How could this case be brushed aside just like that? If the Police Chief’s superiors had intervened, it meant… the accident case could turn into a case of assault from Seno’s side.

At the hospital, Lara was trying to make peace with herself before heading to the rooftop, as requested by her mother. Andre remained faithfully by her side, trying to provide the support and protection Lara needed.

After a few minutes in the elevator heading to the top floor, Andre and Lara finally arrived at the rooftop of the hospital, which functioned as a helipad.

“Phew…” Lara took a deep breath. Her heart was pounding fast. She couldn’t have imagined that her meeting with the mysterious woman claiming to be her mother would be so nerve-wracking.

“Relax, Ra. I’m here,” Andre said assuredly. Lara briefly turned to the man who had kissed her tenderly. The reassuring gaze from her friend became her strength. She would surely be able to overcome all her fears.

Lara stood on the helipad, her gaze sweeping in all directions, searching for the presence of the woman who claimed to be her mother. The gentle breeze brushed against her face. Lara was truly afraid yet… excited, imagining that she would see her mother’s face again!

“No one’s here, Ndre. Could it be that I was deceived?” Lara asked, her voice trembling. Her hope of reuniting with her mother had vanished. It seemed that Lara had truly been deceived by an irresponsible person pretending to be her mother.

Andre answered calmly, “Let’s just wait, Ra. If she’s really your mother, she’ll definitely look for you.”

Lara nodded slowly, although doubt still dominated her heart and mind. Lara didn’t know whether she should be happy or angry at the presence of her mother who was supposed to have died years ago. The woman nodded, “Yes, dear. I am your mother, although maybe not as you imagined. Mama had plastic surgery.”

Andre looked at the woman suspiciously, trying to assess whether she was truly Lara’s mother or not. The woman approached them with elegant steps.

“W-why?” Lara asked confusedly. “Why is mother alive again? How?”

“Lynn, I came here not to hurt you. On the contrary, Mama wants to offer help,” the woman said, reaching out to Lara’s hand gently.

However, Lara pushed her away. Her body trembled violently, her breath was racing. Lara really couldn’t control her body’s response to the resurrection of her mother from the grave.

“How dare you… fake your death and… accuse my family of being behind it!” Andre suddenly spoke up. The woman stared sharply at him.

“Oh, so this is the bastard Ramsey? Like mother, like son!” she snapped.

“Y-you!” Andre clenched his fists tightly. Meanwhile, Lara was still trying to breathe normally.

“Mother… how could you…,” she whispered.

“Lynn… forgive me,” the woman pleaded, trying to hug Lara. But Lara pushed hard to avoid any contact with her.

“How could you deceive us all these years, Ma? What was you thinking?” Tears immediately flowed down Lara’s face. She truly couldn’t accept being deceived since childhood until now. “You don’t know, right? How Lynn lived without you?” Lara’s cry grew louder.

The woman also shed tears. “I’m sorry, Lynn. Many things have happened, and only through that, so I could get revenge on your father and his mistress,” Madam said with regret.

Andre couldn’t say anything. Lara’s mother’s plan had truly succeeded without fail. The Ramsey family became the target of investigations and condemnation. Andre, his brother, and their grandmother couldn’t live in peace.

“You say it so lightly. Don’t you know the effect on all of us?” Andre growled. He also felt like a victim of this cruel charade.

But Lara remained unmoved. She ignored the desperate plea from her mother.

“I know Seno’s weakness, Lynn! And… the existence of your child!”

The last shout succeeded in stopping Lara’s steps. “M-my child?” she repeated, turning back. “Speak! Where is he?!”
