Love Redux: Fated to the Handsome Doctor

Part 48 # The Interview

The day awaited by Mahya finally arrived. She managed to meet face to face with the legendary Dr. Andre. Of course, that title was exaggerated because Dr. Andre’s popularity was still far behind Jaka Tarub, who became the partner of fairies in ancient times.

Legendary? Well, not quite.

“Nice to meet you, Dr. Andre,” Mahya said with a cheerful face.

“Nice to meet you too, Mahya Grace,” Andre replied calmly. He seemed difficult to express emotions, very different from Mahya who was explosive like easily combustible material.

“All right. I’m very lucky to be able to meet you here. My visit is certainly to interview you,” Mahya started the conversation.

Andre nodded and cleared his throat, ready to answer every question from the reporter. The girl’s appearance was quite eccentric with a leather jacket snug on her body. Andre even thought she was a musician, not a reporter as introduced.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

“Can you tell me a little about yourself?” Mahya asked for the initial question.

“Well, what do you want to know?” Andre replied. He didn’t feel he could talk about himself without some prompting that might make his story easier.

“Ah, well… like, your name, occupation, then… a flashback about your journey in the past until you could become a doctor like this.”

“Ah, like that. Well then. Ahem… I’ll start with my name first,” Andre replied with a smile.

“Please,” Mahya said, preparing her recorder.

“All right. My name is Andre Setiawan Ramsey. This strange name is because my mother is Indonesian and my father is from Canada. I am 30 years old. My job, as you can see, is a surgeon,” Andre began introducing himself.

“Interesting. Please continue.”

“Since I was a child, I lived in Canada, studied there, and then… suddenly, I had to move to Indonesia, to my mother’s home country because of an incident that happened in the family. Sorry, I can’t talk about it. It’s a family secret,” he said.

“Okay. No problem. Then, how was your journey to becoming a surgeon like this?” Mahya asked next.

Andre smiled, recalling the bitter incident of the past that had completely changed his life. “Well, I was interested in learning about the human body, and… because of the incident that happened in my past. And also, my father is actually the owner of this Andromeda hospital. However, it almost collapsed due to sloppy management…”

Mahya widened her eyes. This fact was so interesting to her. “Oh, it’s not Dr. Miriam’s family who owns it then?” Mahya finally asked.

Andre nodded immediately. “Yes, I am grateful to meet Dr. Miriam’s family. M Group is the one that saved this hospital from the brink of destruction,” he continued.

“Ah, so that’s the story,” Mahya nodded. She could now draw a common thread between them. “So… this engagement can be called an alliance, right? Haha!” Mahya was only joking when she made that statement.

But who would have thought? Andre’s face turned tense, not expecting that… Mahya actually knew the fact he was hiding. “Y-You, know about the engagement alliance? Did… Dr. Miriam tell you?” Andre asked seriously.

Mahya’s face changed. She was no longer laughing and smiling. “Eh?” The girl was just as surprised. She didn’t expect her random guess to actually… be true? “Is that true?”

This time, it was Andre who was at a loss for words. He didn’t know that the reporter was just making empty talk unrelated to Miriam. “Ah! HAHAHA! Joking… just joking… HAHA!”

The interview continued awkwardly. Dr. Andre also became strange, unlike his usual demeanor. What’s going on here? Mahya smelled something suspicious about their relationship.

“HAHA! The doctor really likes jokes, huh! Haha!” Mahya tried to respond to the unfunny joke as expected by her source, although… Mahya knew that the doctor was just trying to cover up the corpse of his secrets.

“Well, then… what about your family? Do you have siblings, brothers or anyone?”

“I have an older sister. She lives in Canada with her husband. My grandmother is also in Canada. I’m here by myself,” he replied calmly.

“Ah, I see….” Mahya suspiciously observed the doctor’s behavior. How could he talk like that? Alone? Wasn’t his fiancee with him?

“Then, what about your fiancee?”

“Yeah?”

“Dr. Miriam.”

“Ah. She….”

Andre fell silent for a moment. He thought about the words that might satisfy the curiosity of the reporter who was asking him. “My fiancee, right? She is beautiful, smart, and independent. Very suitable as a busy person’s partner like me,” he replied afterwards.

Mahya nodded understandingly. From the doctor’s face, there was no aura of love radiating there. Perhaps… the engagement alliance was indeed true! Mahya needed to find out more details about it.

The interview continued, Mahya tried to dig deeper into Andre’s life journey and thoughts. However, the deeper Mahya dug, the more complex and mysterious Dr. Andre’s life unfolded before her. The past full of twists and mysteries made Mahya even more curious.

As the interview was almost over, Mahya tried to tease Andre with more personal questions. “So, Dr. Andre, between the two of us, who do you find more interesting, Dr. Miriam or Mahya Grace?”

Andre smiled thinly. Dimples adorned his handsome face. “In my opinion, Mahya Grace is clearly more interesting.”

Mahya chuckled satisfactorily. At least, even though she couldn’t have him, she was still free to daydream.

“Ah, of course! I think the same way too.”

They both laughed.

The interview ended in a relaxed atmosphere. Mahya was satisfied with the result of her interview, although the mysteries surrounding Dr. Andre were not fully solved yet. She left the room with a sense of satisfaction and growing curiosity.

“I’ll definitely be back!” she muttered, clenching her fist.

Mahya stepped out of the doctor’s room, heading towards the hospital’s main entrance. Yes. Mahya conducted the interview in this building because Dr. Andre’s schedule was very tight. Mahya didn’t mind having to go to his office rather than risking her exclusive news to fail.

Outside the hospital building, Mahya was about to flag down a taxi to return to the office. However, a black sedan suddenly approached her. The car stopped right next to Mahya. The passenger window rolled down.

“Are you done?” the man driving the car asked Mahya.

“James, what are you doing here?” Mahya asked, surprised.

James smiled broadly, “I was just taking a stroll. Luckily, I saw your ugly hair shining, so… I thought… that must be Mahya, the wild horse.”

“W-what?!” Mahya growled. How dare he mock the ponytail she was so proud of.

James laughed, “Get in!”

Mahya frowned. Although she still felt that James was hiding something. However, Mahya chose to follow him rather than wait for a taxi that had not yet appeared around her.

“Thank you, Boss. I appreciate it,” Mahya said as she got into the car.

James drove slowly, leaving the hospital building behind. “No problem. I’m always happy to help,” said James with a smile. He then looked straight ahead, occasionally stealing glances at the passenger seat.

Mahya apparently fell asleep unknowingly.

James sighed and chuckled at the behavior of the young woman with him. Really! What was she really thinking?
