Love Redux: Fated to the Handsome Doctor

Lara was startled by the voice. It seemed familiar, but who was it?

“I’ll open the door,” Andre said, walking swiftly towards the living room and opening it immediately.

Lara hid behind the partition wall, trying to avoid being seen by the mysterious woman.

She didn’t even get a chance to see her face. Or rather, she didn’t dare. Somehow, she suddenly felt afraid. The events of last night were still vivid in her memory. She didn’t want Seno to come back here with another henchman.

“What are you doing here?” Andre asked curtly to the woman in front of him. It seemed like he knew her.

“Andre! Where have you been?”

Lara heard them arguing. It seemed like she wasn’t one of Seno’s henchmen. She was someone Andre knew. Lara became curious … who was that woman?

“We’ve been looking everywhere for you, Ndre! After the charity event yesterday, you suddenly disappeared! I was worried… luckily, the forensic doctor at the police station told me that he saw my fiance at Cipto Hospital. What actually happened?”

“What? You’re the one out of line, Mrs. Lara! How dare you seduce someone else’s fiance! Isn’t your husband satisfying enough?” Dr. Miriam shouted in front of Lara. She clenched her fists, annoyed. How could she think that they were having an affair?

Suddenly, Andre forcefully pulled Miriam to leave Bi Yani’s house. “Leave or I’ll report you to the police for trespassing!”

“But! Andre! You can’t just kick me out like this!”

“Go!”

Andre’s shout seemed to make Miriam realize that her behavior was completely unreasonable. Lara understood her feelings as a woman who might have prejudices. But with her blind accusations without presenting facts… it only embarrassed her dignity.

“Fine, if that’s what you want. But, I assure you… you’ll regret it, Andre!”

Dr. Miriam finally left Bi Yani’s house with a face full of anger and disappointment. Andre closed the door tightly, ending the unwanted incident. Lara felt a little relieved, but also sad to be involved in someone else’s love drama.

“Andre, forgive me. I didn’t mean to cause trouble,” Lara said softly, trying to calm the situation.

Andre shook his head, “You’re not at fault, Lara. I should apologize. She shouldn’t have accused you like that.”

Bi Yani, who witnessed everything, also commented, “Don’t think too much about what she said, Mrs. Lara. We all know what really happened.”

Lara smiled at her, appreciating her support. Then, Andre looked at Lara with a serious expression, as if wanting to say something.

“Lara, forgive me if this makes you uncomfortable, but we need to talk,” Andre said cautiously.

Lara nodded, giving him permission to continue the conversation. The two of them decided to sit in the living room, leaving Bi Yani busy in the kitchen.

“Lara, I should have told you from the beginning. Miriam is my fiancee,” Andre revealed, unraveling the puzzle that had made Lara’s heart beat faster.

Lara tried to understand, although she still felt disappointed by this lack of clarity. “But why is she so sure that we have a relationship more than just … friends?”

Andre shook his head with a deep sigh, “She’s too emotional. Miriam might have misunderstood.”

“I don’t want to meddle in your personal affairs, Andre. I just need your help as a doctor.”

Andre looked at her with regretful eyes, “I understand, Lara. And I promise, I will resolve this issue with Miriam. There’s no romantic relationship between us, just professional cooperation.”

Lara nodded, trying to accept his explanation. There was still disappointment in her heart, but she knew this situation was complicated, and she shouldn’t be an additional burden to Andre.

“Forgive me, Lara. I don’t want to add to your troubles.”

Lara smiled gently, “No, Andre. We all have our own problems. I hope you both can resolve yours. I also apologize for everything.”

After Andre left, Lara could finally enter the house peacefully. There was no trace of Seno there, only Melati who was cleaning the yard.

Lara went inside and rested for a while on the front sofa, trying to digest all the events that had just happened. Life is indeed full of surprises and obstacles. She promised herself that she would remain strong and face whatever comes next.
