As those words echoed through the air, Abbey snapped back to reality.

She was still giving Cordelia puzzled looks. Why had her brother given that gem to this girl?

While she pondered, Joy was already flapping her hands in a panic. It had been ages since she spoke, and managing anything beyond a few words was a stretch for her.

Mrs. Collins noticed Joy's demeanor and realized Abbey wasn't fond of Cordelia. She frowned deeply. The Robinsons were not a family to be trifled with, nor could she afford to offend them. Yet Abbey was Bill's beloved sister, and she couldn't let a guest, especially Cordelia, who had once helped Joy, be insulted under her roof!

Before Abbey could respond, Mrs. Collins, fearing Abbey might say something harsh, quickly intervened, "Enough, let's not make a big deal out of a little argument..." She shot Abbey a look, hoping she'd spare Cordelia for her sake.

But Abbey suddenly spoke up, "I saw what happened clearly!"

Mrs. Collins frowned, her heart sinking at Abbey's stubbornness!

Hayley, on the other hand, felt relieved, "Yes, it's her fault. People like her shouldn't even be at gatherings like this!"

Abbey scowled, "I can't believe Greenmeadow still harbors such people. Gossipy, ruining first impressions, and their flattery is almost written all over their face. Absolutely unbearable!"

Hayley continued, "So, let's kick her out!"

Abbey turned to Mrs. Collins, "Yes, Auntie, let's have her leave!"

Hayley, basking in her supposed victory over Cordelia, saw Mrs. Brown's face turn beet red. She nodded, "Yes, I brought her, and I'll take her away. This is too embarrassing. Mrs. Collins, we'll catch up another time!"

Abbey scoffed, "Did you think I couldn't recognize one?"

Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Brown exchanged glances, then both stared at Cordelia's wrist, Mrs. Brown stepping forward in astonishment, "Could it be, the Blazing Heart?"

Cordelia was confused, not knowing what that meant, and looked at Abbey with equal confusion. Why was Ms. Robinson suddenly defending her? Hadn't she been against her just moments ago?

Seeing Cordelia's gaze, Abbey flashed a conciliatory smile, ditching her earlier pride as she confirmed to Mrs. Brown, "Yes, that's the Blazing Heart."

Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Collins looked

at each other, then at Mrs. Delaney, in utter shock. What had Mrs. Delaney said? That their family didn't possess any gems, that she didn't understand much about them?

And yet, in a blink of an eye, here was Cordelia, casually wearing a bracelet of priceless gems?

Both were utterly flabbergasted.

Lorna was also stunned, looking at Cordelia's wrist, "This... this isn't just a stone?"

Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Brown shared a look of disbelief.

Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Brown exchanged another look, suddenly realizing that the Delaneys might just be modest folks, choosing to downplay their wealth by referring to precious gems as mere stones...

Mrs. Brown turned to Hayley, "When we took you out, I said you could do anything but become a gossip. Seems like you've forgotten the Lewis family motto!"
