Clarissa continued washing her clothes. She did not want to bother about those things. It was too tiring.

“Clarissa, people are trampling on you. Aren’t you going to counterattack?”

“Forget it. There’s no need. This kind of post will naturally lose popularity after some time.”

“Could it be…” Lily tilted her head and looked at Clarissa. “Is there really something between you and

the assistant director?”

Clarissa stared at Lily.

“I’m too lazy to talk to you.”

After saying that, Clarissa brought her laundry to the balcony and hung them so they could dry.

She was only worried about one thing, and that was if Damien would blame her for this matter. After all,

this topic made it to the gossip forum.

Once Clarissa had hung all her clothes, she took out her laptop and sat on the bed, Then, she

continued typing her valedictorian speech. Lily wanted to say something else, but she closed her mouth

upon seeing Clarissa was silent. In the end, Lily only said, “Don’t forget about the health check for new

employees tomorrow.”

Clarissa replied, “Okay.”

Since Clarissa had become a target of everyone’s attention, she was not looking forward to tomorrow’s

group health check. Moreover, there was a particular sentence in the health check email.

[ Employees who have been promoted to a permanent position are to gather at the parking lot on

Monday morning. All of you have to board the company’s bus to New East Hospital. ]

If it were not for the gossip post, Clarissa could stay unnoticeable. Unfortunately, the entire company

probably recognized her already.

The next day, things turned out as Clarissa had predicted. Over thirty interns were on the bus, but it

had not moved yet and was still in the parking lot.

Clarissa tried to keep a low profile and sat in the last row. However, she could still hear people asking,

“Who’s Clarissa Johnson?”

“Who was the person that picked her up?”

“I heard she’s actually struggling financially. She probably has a sugar daddy.”

Many people turned their heads to look at Clarissa.

Suddenly, someone said, “Look outside.”

Everyone looked out the window, including Clarissa. It was a good way to divert the attention away

from her.

After turning a huge curve easily, a Mercedes-Benz parked beside the bus. It was the same one as

posted in the gossip forum. A few busybodies even took their phones to check.

Everybody held their breaths. They wanted to know who would get out of the car. Clarissa could

basically hear their nervousness.

The car’s door opened. Damien got down and subsequently locked it. Then, he put his hands in his

pockets and walked toward the office building calmly.

Everyone on the bus was silent.

Lily turned her head toward Clarissa. She asked in a surprised tone, “The one involved in your rumor is

President Damien?”

“I happened to bump into him when I went to the hospital that day. He gave me a ride.”

Clarissa tried to cover up the incident, but Lily was not convinced.

The post had been secretly deleted at some point too. No one dared to gossip about the president.

Damien could have interfered. Intentional or not, it warmed Clarissa’s heart. She felt they had gotten

closer because of him. Hence, she wanted to meet him again badly.

It was the first time she could not wait for Saturday’s arrival.

After working overtime on Thursday, Clarissa packed her things and was about to return to her dorm.

At that moment, she received a message from Damien.

[ Stranger: Tell me your height, weight, and measurements. ]

She walked into the elevator while feeling puzzled. Once again, Damien was coincidentally in the

elevator. Since that was the case, she did not have to reply with a text.

Clarissa waved her phone and asked, “What’s the meaning of this, Director Lawrence?”

“I have to order a bridal dress so we can take wedding pictures.”

“Is there a need for such an extravagant arrangement?” Clarissa was taken aback. She thought they

would only get a marriage license and visit Damien’s grandfather.

For a moment, she was hesitant. Would the whole city find out if they held a wedding? When their

agreement came to an end, she might become an abandoned woman since everyone recognized her.

“What are your measurements?” Damien ignored Clarissa’s feelings and continued asking.

“I’ve never measured them, so I don’t know,” Clarissa replied honestly. All this while, she simply bought

small-sized clothes. Besides, she was not going to join a pageant or anything.

Damien stared at her from head to toe.

His gaze was intense, which intimidated Clarissa.

“Ding!”

They had reached the first floor. Damien got off without saying another word.

Clarissa was in a daze. For a moment, she stood still in the lobby. Damien never spoke or asked her

anything unnecessary.

When she reached home, she received another message from him.

[ We’re taking wedding photos on Saturday. ]

Clarissa replied immediately.

[ Aren’t we going to visit your grandfather? Are we having a wedding? ]

[ What are you thinking? ]

That one sentence halted Clarissa’s thoughts.
