Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed

Chapter 237

Owen adjusted his glasses, his expression unreadable.

The next moment, Corley crossed the street, heading towards Roseanne. "Was about to head up to see you, didn't expect to bump into you here." "Something up?"

"Yeah," he nodded, his face somewhat serious. "Can we talk somewhere else? Is that okay?"

Roseanne glanced at Owen, and Corley's gaze naturally followed.

"Fancy seeing you again, Mr. Reynolds."

Owen replied, "Not so fancy, considering you're here for Roseanne. It's easy to run into me."

Corley paused, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Owen met his gaze squarely, calm and unflinching.

"Half an hour, will that do?" Roseanne checked her watch.

"That's fine."

"Let's sit down at that coffee shop across the street."

Around here, there were mostly coffee shops and restaurants, and it was still quiet before the evening classes ended and students started pouring out.

So, it was relatively peaceful.

Roseanne got straight to the point as she sat down. "What's going on? Talk to me."

Corley started, "While investigating those incidents in the Maldives, our legal team gathered some evidence. But since we couldn't directly link it to the case at hand, it wasn't included in the report."

"I stumbled upon something new while going through it recently, something you might find interesting."Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

"What's that?" Roseanne was puzzled.

"Take a look at this..."

Corley passed her a report, highlighting certain sections with a red pen, "Pay attention to the marked areas."

As Roseanne flipped through it, her expression grew more serious.

Corley continued, "See? Whether it was the leaking oxygen tanks or the venomous snake popping out of a gift box, according to the feasibility analysis here, it's unlikely Millie could have pulled this off alone. The timeline from the surveillance also supports this."

Roseanne frowned. "You're saying Millie had an accomplice?"

"It seems highly likely, given the investigation."

"Of course," Corley gathered his thoughts, "pursuing this further might not hold much legal weight now."

After all, the local police had officially declared they wouldn't proceed with the case.

Corley added, "But I choose to tell you because you deserve to know the full story. Plus, it's a heads-up, Millie is not as simple as she seems. There could be others behind her."

"If possible, it's best to avoid contact with her. Also, be wary of your surroundings and stay vigilant."

"Call me anytime if something comes up. I'm always available, not like I'm worth much anyway."

He spread his hands and shrugged, adopting a carefree demeanor.

Roseanne couldn't help but laugh.

"Mr. Sullivan, you're too busy for me to bother."

"I am busy, but your bothering is always welcome. And..." Corley

her smile, "only yours.net

Roseanne's laughter faded, and she became serious. "Thank you for telling me all this, I appreciate it."

Corley smiled slightly. "It's no trouble because "

He paused for emphasis: "I'm happy to."

Meeting his intense gaze, Roseanne looked away, "It's getting late, I should head back."

"Alright," he stood, picking up his jacket. "Let me walk you."

As they crossed the street, Corley's gaze suddenly fixed on a spot.

Owen was still there, in the same place, having not moved an inch...
