Farewell and Teasing

As soon as Santiago finished speaking, he grabbed the staff from the ground
and, with a powerful “Dragon Splash,” pierced straight through the wall. The
force of his strike was so intense that it didn’t just break the wall of Peach
Blossom House–it also left gaping holes in the walls of several neighboring
houses.
“Oh, sh*t!” Santiago realized he’d gotten carried away and jumped up,
snatching the Silver Dragon Spear before making a run for it. As he dashed
off, he shouted, “Emmanuel, cover for me! Consider it a favor to your old
master! I’m out of here!”
Emmanuel stood speechless.
Sure enough, moments later, the angry voices of the village women could be
heard shouting from nearby.
“Santiago, was that you again?”

“Drunk and causing trouble again? Pay up!”
*D*mn it! You’ve damaged our houses again–I’m gonna kill you!”

Hearing the scolding, Emmanuel shook his head in speechlessness.
Fortunately, he wasn’t short on money. Sigh, I guess I’m paying my way out of
this.
After taking a verbal lashing from a few elderly women, Emmanuel returned
to the hillside, feeling rather defeated.
Mackenzie was still by Alessandra and Sarah’s graves, quietly speaking to the
departed. When she saw Emmanuel returning, she greeted him with a
radiant smile.
“Manny, I heard from Mackenzie that you’re heading to Eldoria. Mind taking
me with you?” Shane eagerly asked.
“What’s the matter? You’re not staying in Yeringham to chase after Ms. Beatrix
anymore?” Emmanuel teased with a knowing grin.

“Nah, Beatrix isn’t interested in me. Why stay dead set on a pool when there’s
a sea of fish out there? Who knows, maybe my true love’s waiting out there!”
Shane replied, ever the pragmatist.
He had read in a dating guide that if one couldn’t win a girl over in three
months, it was probably a lost cause. He’d been chasing Beatrix for much
longer than that, and with no sign of her reciprocating his feelings, it was time
to move on.
Emmanuel chuckled, then turned to Frederick. “What about you?”
“Me? I’ll stay in Yeringham. The Quillen family is rebuilding, and Ms. Quillen just
gave birth. I’m sure Ms. Beatrix has a lot of pressure at work, so I’ll do my best
to help,” Frederick replied.

Unlike Shane, Frederick wasn’t one to give up easily. Even though he was
already 30 and his family was pressuring him to settle down, he wasn’t willing
to abandon his feelings. For him, love wasn’t about tactics or compatibility–it

was about staying true to his heart. If he couldn’t win Beatrix’s affection, he
was content to remain single and enjoy his freedom.

Back at the base, Beatrix was surprised to hear that Shane was leaving with
Emmanuel to resoue Roselynn. After all, Shane had been persistently hanging
around her, and now that he was suddenly giving up, she couldn’t help but wonder if her charm had faded.
“Shane, are you really leaving me? Beatrix asked, wanting to hear it straight
from him.
“Yeah,” Shane responded, his spirits lifting when Beatrix addressed him
directly. With renewed boldness, he added, “Are you reluctant to see me go, Ms. Beatrix? If you agree to be my girlfriend, fll stay and protect your”

was walking right into embarrassment again. But then, Beatrix added, “Aren’t
you curious if the person I like is you?”
Shane’s head snapped back up in surprise. “Wait, are you saying… the person
you like is me?”
“Nope!” Beatrix shook her head again.
Shane stood there, speechless. The others could barely hold back their
laughter–Beatrix wasn’t just rejecting him, she was toying with him!
“Well… I guess I’ll be going now,” Shane sighed, turning to leave once more. But
Beatrix followed after him, teasing again. “Don’t you want to know if I was lying
to you just now?”
Shane spun around, his face lighting up with hope. “Were you lying earlier? I
knew it-”
“Nope!” Before he could finish, Beatrix shook her head yet again.
