  1. 1.

With William’s forces now deeply entrenched in Yeringham, Emmanuel’s

martial skills seemed unlikely to tip the scales. If everything went according

to plan, taking out Emmanuel today would pave the way for him to

effortlessly assume the position of president of the Nuthana Chamber of

Commerce.

As Emmanuel made his way to the third floor, he was accompanied only by

Sage and Angela, who remained to observe the unfolding drama. The

unfamiliar faces around him were a sign that William had been working

behind the scenes, meticulously establishing connections that couldn’t have

been built in just a few months without effort.

“Here comes the Grandmaster of Nuthana!” The shout echoed through the

room, drawing the attention of nearly everyone on the third floor. Their

expressions were anything but welcoming, with sinister smiles that spoke of

ill intentions. Clearly, they believed that Emmanuel had walked straight into a

trap of his own making.

Unperturbed by their menacing stares, Emmanuel’s gaze swept the room

until it settled on William. He approached William with steady, unhurried

strides. William, who seemed brimming with confidence earlier, now showed

visible signs of anxiety, gulping with unease.

One must pass through Orchard Road in order to travel from Yeringham

Police Station to the Yeringham Prestige Hotel. The new Chief of Police, Reed Walters, had been promoted recently following Sage’s departure. He was tasked by the Cadigan Family to apprehend Emmanuel and Eve long ago. Today, he had been assigned to the Yeringham Prestige Hotel with a dual mission: to apprehend the offenders and ensure Mr. Verkade’s safety.

While Reed might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, he was no fool. The

hotel was hosting the most prestigious business gala in Nuthana, with top–notch security and a squad of armed bodyguards ensuring everything

went smoothly. Anyone daring enough to cause trouble at such a

high–profile event would need to possess an extraordinary level of

confidence in their position. Adding to the intrigue, it seemed that only two

people were responsible for the disturbance.

Reed, bound by duty to follow his orders was determined to uncover the

identities and motives of these audacious intruders. Yet, just as they got

close to the hotel, their path was abruptly blocked by three imposing black

SUVS, their menacing presence unmistakable.

The wail of sirens sliced through the air, causing an uproar among the

surrounding crowd. Panic spread among the onlookers–Who on earth has the gall to block a police car?

Inside the car, Reed was jolted by the sudden brake, causing him to lurch

forward. Frowning in confusion, he demanded, “What’s going on?”

*Captain, someone’s blocking our way!” the deputy quickly reported.

Reed had initially thought that the obstruction might be a ploy to hinder their mission to the Yeringham Prestige Hotel Yet upon seeing the three

military–grade vehicles, his heart skipped a beat. Whoever was behind this

had to hold significant power within the military.

Who goes there?” Reed demanded, stepping out of the car with his

subordinates. “We’re on a mission. Clear the way immediately!”

The moment he finished speaking, an armored vehicle’s door swung open to

reveal a statuesque woman clad in a red trench coat and sunglasses. Reed

felt a shiver run down his spine as a sense of familiarity washed over him.

“Well, well, if it isn’t Mr. Walters!” The woman remarked, her voice carrying a

blend of surprise and dominance.

“Ms. Thompson, right?” he asked with a hint of awe.

“You’ve got it,” Eve confirmed with an assertive tone. “We’re in the middle of a

critical task at the Yeringham Prestige Hotel. Stay away for your own sake.”

“You’ve got to be joking!” Reed and his subordinates were stunned.

What sort of mission calls for military support? And how did they manage to

gain such high–level authorization?

The fact that she was here signaled that this was no ordinary mission.

Ms. Thompson, I’m afraid I can’t follow your instructions.” he quickly

responded. While I respect your status as a former commander of the Wolf

Before he could finish, Eve unveiled a gleaming insignia and a green

identification badge. His eyes grew wide with disbelief, and he trembled from

head to toe, overwhelmed by the weight of the credentials.

Hove you taken a good look?” she asked, her tone icy.

V–tes, I’ve seen it cleaty,” he answered, barely containing his fear.

“So, will you clear the road now, or do you wish to challenge us?” she pressed.

As they settled back into the car, the deputy turned to him with a puzzled sigression and asked, “Captain, what was that about? We’re retreating
