Love At Last

Chapter 77 – Sad about Cayden’s drama.

Lily

As I was walking back home, I couldn’t just stop thinking about Cayden and the woman that was taking him site seeing.. for the second time.

Ugh. I really wanted to stop thinking about it, I really wanted to, but I just couldn’t do it. I tried shaking my head, hitting it with my hand, but it didn’t just work.

I was really tired of everything and very soon, I wouldn’t even care about anything he does because he doesn’t even notice my care sometimes.

He didn’t even notice that I was hurt when I was leaving and he didn’t do anything about it. I wondered why he was doing all that and if all his actions were all deliberate.

And the woman? She had a kind of vibe that I don’t like at all. I’m sure she doesn’t even like me either, so there was no need to ponder over her issue. I really don’t care about her.

After a very long hour of thinking about things that I’m not even meant to think about, I finally got home.

When I got home, I felt that the atmosphere was a little bit different and.. better. When Granny came towards me with a huge smile on her face, I realised that I was correct about the atmosphere being good.

I accepted her open hands and I hugged her tightly with a smile on my face. She was really being sweet.

I felt something nudging at me too and I looked down to see jacek. I smiled against Granny’s neck and I broke the hug off. I carried jacek and I planted a small kiss on his cheek.

All the pleasantries lasted for minutes and I was finally tired of standing at the door. I came in properly and I locked the door after I went in.

I told Jacek to help me with water, while I spoke to grandmother.

“What was that? You were being too sweet? Did we hit a jackpot?” I asked sarcastically and that earned a chuckle from her.

“You’re the jackpot, Lily. I’m so proud of you dear.” I could feel the warmth in her smile, she was too cute.

I covered my mouth with my palm and I knelt down to hug her because she was seated. The fact that she told me that she was proud of me, just made me feel better and I was no longer feeling frustrated.. or angry.

“Thank you so much, grandma. That’s really sweet. You’re so sweet and cute. I love you.” I said and I gave her a small kiss on her cheek too.Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

Jacek came, but I didn’t see any glass of water with him.

“I couldn’t do it, mummy.” He said and he pouted. I chuckled and I drew him into a hug. I pecked him again and he reciprocated the gesture.

“I have something for us to share. Just to celebrate.” Grandmother interrupted our mother and son moment and she got up to get something. I waited patiently for what she wanted to bring.

“Let’s wait for grandma. Yes baby.” I said in a baby-ish voice to Jacek, while I waited for her to come.

A few minutes later, we saw her coming with a medium sized tray filled with something that I couldn’t see. When she got to us, she placed the tray in front of us and opened it.

The things that were inside surprised me a little bit.

“You brought pastries?” I asked her with widened eyes. She could have just asked me to bring some pastries instead of going through the stress of making them.

“Yes. You should taste the cake, it’s really nice. I churned the butter myself, so it’s creamy.” She said and I could really hear the excitement in her voice.

“I still think you shouldn’t have gone through the stress of making them, I’m a baker for heaven’s sake, but thank you. I really appreciate this, Grandma.” I threw a smile at her and she returned the gesture.

She told you again and when she came back, I saw that she was with some drinks and out of excitement, Jacek stood up from my lap and he started jumping.

We celebrated with the pastries and drinks. I really appreciated her for being this nice and making my evening a lot better, so much better than I actually wanted it to be.

It was bedtime a few hours later and I carried Jacek from the living room to the bedroom. I tucked him to sleep carefully and when I was about to leave, I felt someone dragging me back.

I looked back and I saw Jacek dragging me back. I sat back on the bed and I asked him while he wasn’t sleeping again.

“You didn’t kiss me goodnight, mummy.” He said and I actually realised that I didn’t do that. I apologised to him and I kissed him goodnight.

I walked away from him and I switched the light off before going out to also get ready for bed.

When I got to the living room, I saw Granny sitting down there. It seemed like she was waiting for me.

I went to her and I asked her, “why are you still here, Grandma? Do you want me to follow you to your room? I could do that.”

She looked up to me and she patted the space beside her. I went in to sit there and I waited for her to speak.

“Tell me about the progress of the competition.” She said and as soon as the words registered in my head, I felt a sting in my heart.

“I don’t know what to say, Grandma.” I quietly said and she patted my back lovingly.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m just so overwhelmed. I don’t know.” I didn’t know how I was going to tell her that I was feeling really hurt because of Cayden and his whole drama. I am tired of everything.

“Come here.” She placed my head on her shoulder and I hugged her.

There was a brief silence observed by the both of us and I inwardly thanked her for that.

“I am hurt that Jarod left me like that and he sabotaged me like that with no remorse.” Granny comforted me and she told me that since we had known each other for a long time, she was sure Jarod would come to his senses.

I thanked Granny and we both went to bed. The next morning, I woke up to a call from Cayden.

I received it and I was told that he was standing outside my door.
