Love At Last

30

Chapter 30 – Jarod’s jealousy.

Lily’s POV

When I heard the growl from his stomach, I just couldn’t keep the laughter in and I started laughing. I was surprised when he joined me too. It felt good to laugh with him when we had a fight today.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

I tried offering him some food, but he refused, telling me that he wasn’t hungry even when he clearly was.

I wanted to force him to eat something at least, but I thought against it. You can’t possibly force someone like Cayden to do what he doesn’t want to do. I wanted us to go back to our agreement quickly before he leaves.

“So, is the agreement settled?” I said to him and he instantly became serious. We continued talking about it. It’s better for us to finalise it before taking the wrong steps. What he told me about needing a girlfriend or a wife really scared me, even though I didn’t show it.

The situation is more serious than I thought. That’s why he’s always taking it so seriously. I understand now. I’m making a promise to myself now to help him in any possible way that I can and I’m sure that I will be able to keep that promise.

We started talking about the payment and when I made a suggestion of the amount that he needs to pay me, u could see that he really wanted to protest against that, but he didn’t. He agreed without saying anything. Now, he’s paying me one fourth of the whole money and after that, we will both go our separate ways.

“Separate ways?” I asked him to confirm. When he said we were going to go our separate ways, something tingled inside me. I didn’t know the emotion that I was suddenly feeling. The thought of the both of us not seeing again after all these seemed.. not right. So, that means we wouldn’t even be friends after everything.

“Yes, is anything wrong with that?” He asked me. I could see that he had no idea of what I was thinking about. I gave him a small smile and I dismissed whatever weird thoughts I was having about it.

“Not at all.” I said and supported it with a smile.

“Yeah, great.”

Yeah, just great.

He stood up from the chair and he started getting ready to leave. When he stood up, I realised that he was right about my apartment being small and cosy. He seemed so big in the house and I chuckled lightly at it.

“Since it’s all settled, I guess I should leave now.” He said and he nodded at me.

“Yes, you should. I’ll give you updates about… everything.” I said as I trailed behind him to the door.

Before he left, he threw a smile at me before he got into his car to leave.

As his car sped off, I saw a figure coming towards me. I moved closer to see the person and I saw Jarod coming towards me. I was surprised as to why he was coming to meet me in my house.

I don’t remember telling him to come…

“Hey, Jarod.” I said when he got to where I was standing. He looked a little bit sad and… angry? I wasn’t sure. Before I could ask him the reason why he was here, he started speaking without returning my greeting.

“The supervisor for the competition is coming down to the bakery tomorrow, so… yeah. That’s all.” He said and ended it with a sad smile. He was about to turn around to leave, but I called him back.

“Are you okay, Jarod? You seem.. out of place. Do you want to come in and have something? We could hang out a little before you leave.” I was trying to make him feel better, but it seemed like it wasn’t working.

“Nah. I have to get back to the bakery. It seemed like you were having a whole lot of fun anyway.” He shrugged lightly before he turned around to leave.

I couldn’t help but to ponder on what he said before he left.

Why did he look jealous? Oh my God, was Jarod jealous? I smiled to myself as I thought of it.

What fun was I having though? I watched him as he walked down the road before I went back inside.

Pushing aside what Jarod said, I decided to start preparing everything for the second date. I have to make sure that there are no mistakes at all.

I started chatting with the second date to know what she likes and what she doesn’t, to make everything easier for Cayden.

The chat was going well, until we started talking about kids. When I made mention of kids and if she would like to have some, what she said really shocked me.

She said that she hated children and she doesn’t even want to have one in future. I was really surprised because everyone wants children, right?

Well, I know a good number of children, women especially, that love and want children. So, what was so different about this lady?

I wanted to change her mind about it and I texted back to her, telling her how much I love children and how I wanted some someday. I even added the fact that I would love to have some with her, to make her feel better about it.

Immediately I sent it, she sent a reply, telling him about how she doesn’t think the date can work and how she doesn’t want to go on a date with Cayden because she thinks I’m Cayden.

When she sent that reply, my heart skipped because I knew that I was in so much trouble.

If the second date doesn’t want to go on a date with Cayden, then so many things are going to happen. To me, especially.

God, what have I done? Why did I chat with her now? I should have just waited for Cayden to make his magic and now, I destroyed everything.

Oh Lord, Cayden is going to kill me. Yes, he is. I am so dead.

What am I going to tell him? That I tried making his date love kids and in the process she rejected him? That’s too ridiculous.

I started pacing around the room, while thinking about what to do and how to fix the mess that I made.

This is too bad. Too bad.
