Chapter 28 – Cayden’s anger

Cayden

I was feeling really frustrated and tired of all these. I just came here to do what I was supposed to do and now I’m facing this? Ugh.

Could this day get any worse? I looked at this guy named Jarod again and I started thinking about how to convince him that I really needed to see Lily now. A few seconds later, I said “fuck it”under my breath and I just decided to tell him straight up that I needed to see Lily and that was it. I am definitely not leaving his place until I see Lily. It’s really important.

“I really need to speak to Lily.” I said to him and I waited for a reply. Jarod hesitated before he answered me again. I was expecting him to tell me where to go, to meet Lily. I was really surprised when he told me a quick “no,” and he continued going to work. I wanted to snap my fingers at him and tell him that that’s not a proper way to answer a customer, but I settled for calling his name to get his attention.

“I really need to see her. It’s really important.” I said carefully and when he was about to protest again, I quickly added “it’s an emergency.” Even with that, he still shook his head at me and when he was about to go back to work, he turned towards me and he said to me,

“She isn’t available for customers right now. She isn’t around for.. anyone.” The look that he gave me when he ended his sentence was really weird and I was taken aback by that.

“I know she’s in there somewhere. I need to see her now.” My tone had suddenly changed and the fact that this guy is stopping me from seeing Lily, is making me angry.

“Sir, I told you several times that Lily isn’t in. I think you need to find your way out.” He said scornfully and he eyed me in a bad way. The anger that was surging through me now was really increasing and by the time I’m done with this guy, I can’t promise if he’s still going to be alive.

I wanted to jump over the counter and rip his throat out of his neck, but I controlled myself not wanting to draw unnecessary and very highly unpleasant attention to myself. I hit my fist on the counter and I asked for Lily for the last time. Seeing how angry I was, he also increased the tone of his voice.

“She isn’t in. I think you need the security to show you out, don’t you?” He said and turned away from me. I could swear that when he turned away from me, he called me a fucker.

I closed my eyes to calm myself down and I left the place instantly. I didn’t know if my anger was from the fact that I didn’t see Lily or the fact that that worker in there was being a total jerk.

I started fuming in anger and thinking about what I wanted to do. I can’t just leave this place and go home. No, I can’t. I need to see Lily and I need to see her now. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

I entered my car and I violently closed the door after I entered. I hit my fists against the steering wheel and I rested my head on it. I started trying to balance my breathing because I was too angry to even think. After a while, I was okay and I could finally think now.

Where could Lily possibly be? I was hitting my thumb against the steering wheel in frustration, when my brain finally unclosed something that I hadn’t even thought about. If I wanted to see Lily that bad, then I could have just gone to her house. It isn’t that bad.

How is it that I didn’t even think about that before exchanging words with that jerk? I hissed loudly and I started my car to go to Lily’s house.

Some minutes later, I was a few steps away from Lily’s apartment. I took a deep breath in before I got out of the car. I started walking towards the apartment and when I got to the entrance, I knocked softly on the door and I waited for an answer.

A minute later I was still outside, without anyone opening the door. I increased the intensity of my knock and the door finally opened a few seconds later.

Lily stood in front of me looking really confused.

“Wha-” she started saying, but I Interrupted her by going into her apartment without getting invited in. She let out a lid sigh before closing the door.

When she came inside to meet me, I was already making myself comfortable on a seat and she stood in front of me with her hands crossed against her chest.

“What are you doing here, Cayden?” She said and waited for a reply. I looked up and I didn’t say anything to her. I wanted to be completely calm before saying anything to her.

I loved how cosy her apartment was. It went perfectly with her personality.

“What?” She said and I looked at her to see that she was still staring at her.

“I don’t understand.” I answered her, while looking around the house.. again.

“Why are you looking around the house like that? What do you have to say about it?” She asked me and moved closer to me.

I shrugged before saying, “I don’t know. It’s cosy and it suits your personality perfectly.” Immediately I said that, a huge frown settled on her face and I saw that she was a little bit offended at that.

I quickly told her that I meant it as a compliment and that was when a small smile settled on her face. She was trying to make me really comfortable, so she offered me water. I didn’t know how to tell her that I was really starving and that was why I came to her. Of course, coupled with the fact that I came to ask her something.

I ignored my hunger and I asked her, “why didn’t you give me an update about the second date? No calls, text, nothing!” I could see how bad she felt about that and she looked so guilty.

“I’m really sorry. I just wanted to concentrate on the competition. If I don’t, I’d end up not getting a single prize and it’ll end up being a crash project.” She said and I could only stare at her. I was really stunned by what she said. Was that the reason why she didn’t get back to me about the second date?

Wow, Lily. Wow.
