Chapter 1255: The Real and Fake Aunt

Julia's face turned pale, still shaken by what had just happened. She couldn't help but glance at Chris Shelby, surprised by his formidable strength. The waiter was clearly no ordinary assassin, yet Chris Shelby had scared him off with a single move.

Chris Shelby looked at Julia and asked with a smile, "Auntie, were you scared?"

Julia quickly shook her head. "No!"

For some reason, Julia always felt a chill down her spine when she met Chris Shelby's sharp gaze.

Chris Shelby smiled faintly. "It's good that you're okay! Luckily, nothing serious happened today. Otherwise, it would have been bad if you got scared. But lately, assassins have become more rampant. Several have tried to kill Esther before!"

"Boss, I haven't received any news about the International Assassins' Guild sending assassins to East Coast. Based on your description, this assassin seems quite skilled! If the guild sent another assassin, they wouldn't dare send such a strong one because it would be a suicide mission! So I haven't figured out where this assassin came from."

Later on, Chris Shelby drove Esther to a café where they saw Julia waiting for them.

Seeing them arrive together made Julia smile and ask: "What would you like to drink?"

Chris Shelby replied indifferently: "A latte for me."

Esther looked at Julia and asked: "Auntie why did you want to meet me?"

Julia smiled: "Esther I need to use the restroom can you come with me?"

Shaking her head she replied: "No thanks-you can go alone."

"Alright," Julia said before getting up and leaving for the restroom.

Watching her leave made Chris Shelby turn towards Esther saying: "Dear your aunt seems odd."

Esther nodded in agreement: "I feel so too-she's acting strangely unlike herself."

Hearing this made Chris narrow his eyes: "Dear it's possible she's not really your aunt!"

"What?" Esther exclaimed in disbelief: "How could that be?"

Chris smiled: "We'll find out soon enough."

Moments later Julia returned from the restroom apologizing for keeping them waiting.

Julia hesitated asking: "Wouldn't that be inconvenient?"

Chris reassured her smilingly: "Not at all, we're family!"

Esther agreed nodding along saying: "Auntie Chris is right, we're family!"

After thinking for a moment Julia agreed saying she'd stay over tonight.
