Chapter 1221: Chris Shelby Jumps Into The Abyss
Chapter 1221: Chris Shelby Jumps into the Abyss
Tiger asked, puzzled, "Boss, what is this place?"
Chris Shelby shook his head with a bitter smile. "I don't know either!"
After arriving at this tomb, Chris Shelby found many things that defied his previous understanding.
Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy whispered to each other.
After a while, Peterson Abernathy coughed and said, "Chris Shelby, we just checked, and it seems this palace is another formation."
"A formation?"
Hearing this, Chris Shelby frowned. The previous chain trap formation in the tomb was still fresh in his memory. He didn't expect another formation this time.
Daniel Williams added, "Chris Shelby, we know you understand formations, but breaking this one might come at a cost. Whether we can enter the sixth palace depends on our luck!"
With that, Daniel Williams took the lead and walked forward. The others followed without hesitation.
After walking about a few hundred meters, the environment suddenly changed before their eyes. A massive volcano appeared in front of Chris Shelby and the others. The scorching heat made everyone's faces change drastically.
Chris Shelby frowned and said, "Don't be afraid; this should be an illusion formation. The volcano in front of us is just an illusion."
"An illusion formation?"
Hearing this, Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy looked at Chris Shelby with puzzled expressions.
Chris Shelby explained, "An illusion formation is similar to a trap formation. A trap formation traps people, while an illusion formation creates various illusions that can make people lose themselves without realizing it."
Meanwhile, Chris Shelby's face turned unusually grim because an illusion formation was even more terrifying than a trap formation. A trap formation might only trap someone, but an illusion formation could potentially kill them. Especially such a realistic illusion could drive someone mad.
Listening to Chris Shelby's explanation, Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy both looked serious.
Peterson Abernathy asked solemnly, "Chris Shelby, do you have any way to break this illusion formation?"
Chris Shelby shook his head. "This illusion formation is very intricate. We need to find the core points and break them all to dismantle the formation."
Hearing this, Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy wasted no time and immediately started searching for the core points.
As time passed, everyone was drenched in sweat. This formation was evidently left by master formation creators from the Terracotta period; it was not simple at all.
After half a day of searching, they finally found the core points. Once they broke them, the massive volcano vanished!
However, they had only advanced about a hundred meters and still had a long way to go before reaching the end of the palace.
Not long after Chris Shelby and the others left the volcano area, the environment changed again. This time, everyone's faces grew even more serious because this illusion was even more realistic than the last one. It was hard to tell if it was real or fake.
Everyone remained silent as they continued following Chris Shelby.
Soon, they encountered a massive abyss. Instantly, everyone stopped in their tracks. The bottom of the abyss was not visible; falling into it would surely result in death.
Moreover, the abyss seemed so real that it was hard to discern whether it was an illusion or reality. No one dared to proceed because falling into the abyss would mean certain death.
Chris Shelby gritted his teeth and said, "This is an illusion formation; we just need to walk across!"
No one spoke or moved. Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy both looked at Chris Shelby, clearly expecting him to go first.
Chris Shelby snorted coldly and stepped forward.
"Boss, don't!" Tiger exclaimed immediately upon seeing this.
Chris Shelby turned around and asked Tiger, "Kiddo, what are you afraid of? Don't you trust me?"
Tiger sweated profusely and said, "Boss, this is too dangerous. If it's not an illusion formation and you fall down there, you'll die for sure!"
"Don't worry; I won't die!" Chris Shelby smiled confidently and then walked forward.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
But Chris Shelby stepped into thin air and fell straight down. Everyone gasped in shock and retreated from the edge of the abyss.
"Boss!" Tiger screamed as he watched Chris Shelby fall into the abyss.
Meanwhile, Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy showed a hint of satisfaction on their faces. They both had grudges against Chris Shelby. If he died like this, it would be good news for them.
"Boss, I'm coming to save you!" Tiger shouted as he rushed forward without hesitation and also fell into the abyss.
"Boss! I'm coming!"
"Boss! I'm coming!"
"Boss! I'm coming!"
Knowing it meant certain death, over a thousand royal guards still resolutely followed Chris Shelby into the abyss! To these royal guards, Chris Shelby was like a god in their hearts. If he died, they would follow him without hesitation.
Seeing this display of loyalty shocked Daniel Williams and Peterson Abernathy. They hadn't
expected Chris Shelby's influencet
over these royal guards to be so profound that they would willingly die for him.
Daniel Williams's eyes darkened with jealousy. Chris Shelby's military prestige was too high; unless he killed Chris Shelby, he could never ascend to Master William's throne. Seeing everyone jump into the abyss after Chris Shelby, Peterson Abernathy asked Daniel Williams nervously,
"Daniel Williams, what do we do now? Should we jump too?"
Daniel Williams glared at Peterson Abernathy,
"What else can we do? Do we have any other way back? And if it's really just an illusion, won't we be letting Chris Shelby get ahead?"
Peterson Abernathy stayed silent because Daniel Williams made sense; they had no retreat now, and with Dragon Emblem remnants so close, they couldn't give up easily.
Peterson Abernathy nodded, "You're right! Since Chris Shelby dared to jump, it means it's an illusion; he wouldn't jump if it were real."
With that, Peterson Abernathy gestured for Daniel Williams to go first, revealing his cunning nature by letting Daniel take the risk first.
Daniel cursed inwardly but wasn't overly worried; he knew Chris Shelby wouldn't seek death knowingly; if it were truly bottomless, Chris wouldn't have jumped.
With that thought, Daniel approached the edge;
seeing the abyss below made him nervous despite his belief in its illusory nature.
