Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Faye panicked at the gesture. Her body froze as if she had been cursed. She stayed prone, not daring to move at all.
All of that happened in a flash. What should she do?
Turn him down politely? Give in, but only halfway? Or take the high road and tell him off?
All at once, a myriad of possibilities flashed through Faye’s mind.
Wilbur’s hand had already landed at her chest, picking off something by the neckline of her nightgown with a smile. “One of your hairs almost fell on the plate.”
Faye heaved a long sigh internally, relaxing at last.
She stuttered, “Sorry, Boss. M- My hair has been falling lately.”
“That’s alright,” Wilbur responded, then turned back to enjoy his plate of carbonara.
Faye stood up straight with her heart racing wildly. She did not know what to say or do next.
After taking two bites, Wilbur looked up and said, “This is pretty good. Have you eaten?”
“I… I haven’t,” Faye replied.
“Make some for yourself too. You’re a pretty good cook,” Wilbur praised again.
Faye nodded in a hurry and rushed off to the kitchen. Wilbur smiled at her retreating figure.
Very soon, Faye had made herself a plate of pasta as well. The pair sat and ate their food in silence.
After doing the dishes, Faye sat down next to Wilbur with her nightgown lifted up slightly, revealing her pale, slender thighs.
Wilbur sipped his tea. “How are things going with Woods Corporate?”
“They signed the deal earlier this afternoon.”
Faye seemed to turn into a different person when work was involved. Her tone was straightforward and blunt.
“We’ve sent them the five billion dollars, but we also sent over our people to take over most of their board of directors. We’re also a majority shareholder now. We’ll be in control of Woods Corporate in just a few days.”
Wilbur nodded. “Well done.”
“I’ve told the people we’re sending to the Woods Corporate’s board of directors to look through their accounts and taxes under the pretense of financial supervision to gather evidence. Based on their current situation, something’s got to be off,” Faye said.
Wilbur glanced at Faye, surprised.
This girl had not only made an accurate conclusion of Wilbur’s true intentions but had even planned ahead around them. What a rare talented individual.
At that moment, Faye was seated on the couch, looking calm and collected, the complete opposite of the stuttering mess that she was from half an hour ago.
Wilbur fell silent for a while before asking slowly, “If you knew there was something wrong with Woods Corporate, why are you still investing in them?”
“Boss, every company has problems like these. It’s an industry secret, and everyone in the field knows it,” Faye replied vaguely.
“However, Cape Consortium’s financial power can support Woods Corporate sufficiently to get them out of this tough time and even expand the company in time. Those problems I mentioned earlier can be fixed after we’ve taken over. But of course, I’ve changed the plan based on what you wanted.”
Wilbur nodded with a smile. “You’ve done an excellent job.”
“Thank you, Boss,” Faye responded, bowing her head humbly.
“Get me a car tomorrow at eight o’clock in the morning.” Seeing that there was nothing else to ask about the fine job Faye had done, Wilbur quickly changed the subject.
Faye responded immediately, “Do you have any requirements for the car?”
“Keep it lowkey. I don’t want people to figure out my identity. Oh, and please don’t call me Boss anymore,” Wilbur said.
Faye glanced at Wilbur, her expression flashing uncomfortably. “What should I call you, then?”
“Willy, Sir, or whatever you deem fit. Just don’t make it seem like you work for me.”
Faye was at a loss for words. She must be out of her mind if she dared to call him Willy.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Faye probed cautiously, “How about this? I’ll call you Boss when no one’s around, but call you Sir we’re in public. Is that alright?”
“That’s fine. Where am I going to live?” Wilbur responded.
Faye bit her lip upon hearing those words. “There are plenty of guest rooms upstairs, and it’s nicer up there. I’m staying upstairs too.
Wilbur smiled. “I’ll stay in a guest room, then. I’m single, anyways.”
Faye blushed. “I’ll take you there.”
Wilbur got up and followed Faye to a guest room.
After looking around, he turned to her and said, “Alright, you can go get some rest. Don’t worry about me in the future. Just focus on your job.”
“Got it, Boss. Goodnight.” Faye bowed and left.
Wilbur toured around the guest room before going downstairs to meditate in the living room.
Wilbur woke up on time, around seven o’clock in the morning. He had spent the night meditating and felt absolutely refreshed.
He got ready and went to the living room, just to see Faye already waiting for him.
“Hello, Boss.” Faye got up and bowed. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Wilbur waved a hand. “Please don’t be so courteous around me. It’s really awkward.”
Faye did not react much to that. Instead, she took out a car key. “Boss, your car’s at the door.”
“Simple. Not a bad choice,” Wilbur said with a nod as he took the key.
Faye said in a low voice, “It’s a Corvette.”
“A Corvette? Isn’t that a luxury car brand?” Wilbur was shocked.
“Yes… This car costs two million and five hundred thousand dollars,” Faye said.
Wilbur frowned. “Didn’t I tell you to keep it lowkey?”
Faye was speechless. Did this guy even understand how big the company that he owned was?
Of course, she did not dare to say any of that. “Boss, this is the most lowkey car the company has.”
Wilbur exhaled and said, “Fine. Go do your thing. Don’t worry about me.”
Faye nodded. “Alright, Boss. Goodbye.”
After saying that, Faye left with her handbag over her shoulder.
From the back, her tight blue formal suit hugged her curves, and her heels accentuated her silhouette even more. She radiated the air of a flawless, successful, mature working lady.
Wilbur smiled to himself and followed her out, driving his Corvette toward the city.
Just as he arrived at the Department of Marital Affairs at eight o’clock sharp, he received a call from Yvonne.
“Are you here yet? Don’t you dare be a coward. I’m warning you,” Yvonne’s voice could be heard through the phone.
Wilbur locked his car and replied in a calm voice, “I’m at the entrance.”
He ended the call and went to the entrance. Upon arrival, he could see that Yvonne and Blake were already there, waiting for him.
The pair seemed to heave a sigh of relief when they saw him.
Wilbur smiled. “Let’s go.”
Yvonne scoffed coldly and went in first.
With no custody battle for children and no division of assets to take care of, it was a rather speedy procedure.
Half an hour later, the pair walked out holding their divorce certificates.
Yvonne ran toward Blake at top speed as she waved the certificate. “Blake, I’m free.”
Blake wrapped Yvonne in his arms, and the two of them shared a passionate kiss.
Wilbur’s stomach almost turned at the sight, but he still forced out a smile at them. “You’re finally free. The two of you can get married now.”
Yvonne glowered at Wilbur out of annoyance and said, “That’s none of your business! Blake and I are going to have the grandest of weddings and invite all the members of Seechertown’s elite. Get lost, you idiot.”
“Is that so? Don’t regret it when the time comes,” Wilbur responded and chuckled.
Blake flared up in anger. He marched up to Wilbur and shouted, “Are you looking to get beaten up?”
At the same time, two of Blake’s bodyguards rushed over as well to surround Wilbur.
