Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Lenny's and Scarlet's eyes met. He gazed at her for a while, as if he was searching for something in
the depths of her soul.
Imposing and domineering aura emanated from him, suppressing the people around him.
As for Scarlet, Lenny was the last person she expected to bump into in this restaurant. Her first
reaction when she saw him was to quickly lower her head. She was unwilling to look at him.
Lenny didn't want anyone here to know that they had a past, either.
"Mr. Foster, is everything all right?"
The man beside Lenny noticed his strange behavior.
"Yes, everything's fine," Lenny replied, snapping back to his senses. He kept watching Scarlet out of
the corner of his eye.
Carey continued scolding Scarlet in front of all the customers of the restaurant.
Her voice was loud, and Lenny heard it clearly. He couldn't help frowning. He wanted to stand up for
Scarlet, but after hesitating for a while, he still didn't make a move.
He had nothing to do with Scarlet now. It was obvious that she made a mistake in her work. She had to
take responsibility. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Everyone should experience an irate client at least once in their career. That was the most effective
way to learn how to handle difficult customer care situations. There were no shortcuts.
"How do you find the food, Mr. Foster?" Lenny's business partner asked courteously.
Lenny took a bite and found the food tasteless.
He didn't understand why. Maybe it was because Scarlet was standing just a few tables away.
Carey had been reprimanding Scarlet for half an hour. Scarlet had been standing there for so long that
she had stopped feeling her legs.
At last, Carey took a sip of coffee to moisten her throat. She didn't stand up until it was almost time for
her party.
"Bring me the silk scarf later. And I want you to apologize to me sincerely. I will go to your studio so that
you can tell me how sorry you are in front of your boss."
After saying that, Carey grabbed her purse and left the restaurant with her head held high.
With her head down, Scarlet went to the ladies' room. She needed to splash some water on her face to
calm herself down.
Standing in front of the mirror, she touched her belly. She felt guilty that her baby had suffered with her.
That wasn't a good situation to expose her unborn child to. Scarlet hoped that her baby wouldn't be
affected.
She took a deep breath and then made her way out of the ladies' room. Outside the ladies' room, she
bumped into a man who just exited the men's room. The man was drunk out of his skull.
Scarlet quickened her pace, but the drunken man grabbed her by the hand and pulled her forcefully.
"Tell me, why did you betray me? Why? Because you think I'm poor and ugly? How could you? You
bitch!"
The man and Scarlet didn't know each other. He just happened to be drinking at the restaurant
because he and his girlfriend broke up.
He mistook Scarlet for his ex because their figures were similar and because the alcohol had already
blurred his vision.
Scarlet wanted to leave, but the drunken man wouldn't let her. He even shoved her to the floor.
She quickly lost balance and fell on her knees. She screamed in pain.
"Help! Help me!" Scarlet shouted.
The restrooms were in the innermost part of the restaurant. She could only call for help. The drunken
man was too strong for her. She couldn't run away even if she wanted to.
"Shut up!"
The drunken man covered her mouth in panic.
The moment his palm touched her lips, she bit on his hand hard.
"You whore! I'll beat you to death!"
After saying that, he clenched his fist and raised it high, ready to throw a punch at Scarlet.
She was so terrified that all she could do was close her eyes and wait for the strike.
However, it never came. She just heard the drunken man scream.
"Ouch! Ouch!"
She fluttered her eyelids and slowly opened her eyes. When she saw Lenny, her heart broke into a full
gallop.
He came to her aid faster than any of the restaurant staff.
Lenny felt restless the whole lunchtime. Even he didn't know what was wrong with him.
Suddenly, he heard a faint cry for help, and the voice registered to him as Scarlet's. Not wasting time to
think this time, he rose from his seat and went straight to the restrooms.
Seeing a drunkard about to hit the helpless and defenseless Scarlet, Lenny immediately burned with
white-hot rage.
Without hesitation, he grabbed the drunken man's fist and squeezed it with all his might. The drunken
man screamed in agony.
Lenny's eyes were cold and full of cruelty.
"Are you sober now?" he asked gloomily.
"Who the hell are you?"
Instead of answering the drunken man's question, Lenny raised his leg and gave him a swift kick in the
spine. The drunken man fell face-first to the floor.
The sharp pain sobered him up in an instant.
"Again, are you sober now?" Lenny snarled.
His deep growl sent shivers down the man's spine.
