CHAPTER 33
“Be safe. Take Micah and hide in the study. I’ll try and find out what’s happening” My husband, the king mumbled before quickly kissing me on the cheeks and leaving the room.
I quickly put on my clothes and rush to my sons room to see him awake and crying in his crib. I picked him up and pat him on the back and soon he stopped crying.
As I walk down the hall, I saw the massive green light that shinned and when I looked at it closely, it was being hit by very powerful balls. I could tell that it was the work of magic for no human weapon could do such a thing.
And this… This could expose us.
Shaking my head and continuing with the task at hand, I took out the keys from my pocket that Elijah gave me before departing from me, I pushed it into the keyhole unlocking the door and then locking both I and Micah in the room.
I placed him on the wooden floor and also the bag I took from his room. I took out a heavy blanket and folded it making it thicker and put it on the floor. When I looked to where my son was, I saw that he was already fast asleep on the floor with drool coming out of his mouth.
I chuckled and picked him up then wince at the loud sound of the magical wall behind hit. That was a very long one and I swear it probably woke the whole earth.
I couldn’t stay here though. I have to help out with what is happening. To my luck, when I pushed the door open I saw Ruth running with some other maids and I grabbed her by the arm, making her yelp and pulled her in the room then closed the door.
Ruth looked scared at first and when she noticed it was just me she released a sigh of relief.
“Your majesty, what’s happening?” She asked and I shook my head. “That’s what I’m going to find out” I mumbled.
“I need you to go find my parents and Josephine then bring them here okay” I said to her sternly and we both turned our head to my sleeping son on the ground. He made a cute sound clenching his blanket to his chest.
“Noted” she murmured hurryingly bowing before exist the room.
I sat on the chair for at least twenty minutes, staring at myself in the mirror while chewing at my nails before the door nob twisted alerting me that there was someone at the door.
“Mom?” I asked from the other side in a whisper and when I heard her say my name back, I released a sigh.
I pushed the door open welcoming them in and when I looked outside – there was no one.
“Thank Goodness you’re both okay” I mumbled hugging them.
“What’s happening?” Mom asked, repeating the same question Ruth had asked before. “I don’t know” I muttered.
I couldn’t help but think that this was the rogue king’s work.. But he has been imprisoned for more than two years and the only way to free him is by spilling Elijah’s blood on the lock and not just his blood, but also with the use of magic.
I made space next to Micah for Josephine’s son to lay in.
“Your majesty I have to go” Ruth’s voice called from behind and I turned around with a frown. “It would be safer here” I mumbled but she shook her head.
“I must go, I have to help out with any necessary work during the war” She insisted.
“If you must” I muttered before opening the door for her.
I closed it back and look towards my family. “I have to go to” I mumbled with a voice leaving no room for arguments.
Mom sighed and pats my shoulder. “I know I can’t stop you but be safe” She murmured with shakiness in her voice.
I took a pen and wrote down something on a paper before handling it to mom. “If anyone except I or the king tries to get in, I want you to recite this words to the mirror over there,” I said pointing to the mirror on the wall. “Then call whichever pack or state you want to be in and it will open a portal to that place” I finished.
I wasted no time in reaching the door but before opening it, I cast a quick glance to my sleeping son then left the study. I waited till I heard a ‘click’ sound from the door before making the journey to find the king.
‘Elijah?’ I called through the mind link but got no response. I tried multiple times and still no response and my heart started to beat fast.
Thoughts of what ifs came to my mind but I shook them off. The king is fine.
I pushed the door to the meeting room with much force not waiting for the guards to do so and it made a loud bang on the wall. All eyes snap to but I paid them no mind.
I moved with confidence standing next to the king, ignoring the glare he was sending my way.
“What’s happening?” I asked the four men in the room including Elijah.
“It seems like Derrick has escaped” The head of army said his eyes glancing towards Elijah’s arm for a split second and I followed it.
Elijah had a wound that was healing slowly on his arm. “What happened to you?” Taking his hand in mine and inspecting the wound.
“I was attacked” He sighed removing his hand from my mine and I frown at his odd behavior.
“Can we get any Alpha and their pack warriors here?” Elijah asked facing the Head of guard.
“No sire, most of the packs are under attack” He replied.
“How many rogue warriors have been spotted outside the wall by our spies?” Elijah asked commander Quill.
“About seven hundred with forty witches by his side” He reported and I frown… That was quite smaller than I expected.
“What is he trying to archive with this” He mumbled lowly.
“What if he’s just trying to expose the supernatural to the humans?” I said and all heads turned to me.
“Why would he do that?” Commander Quill asked and everyone nodded, some curious to what my response will be.
“He knows he can’t have the throne. Even if he does defeat the King Elijah, he knows that no one will bow to him,” I mumbled casting a glance to Elijah to see him tense. “So he is trying to expose us knowing the humans won’t feel safe with us and try to exterminate us” I finished and everyone agreed.
“That’s why he’s trying to bring down the wall. The humans can see it and they will be curious. The government will come and things will get ugly” Elijah murmured rubbing his chin in thought.
“But we can’t let that happen”
“Of course not!” Elijah sneered at who said that.
“Commander Quill,” The king called out to Quill making him straighten up. “I need you to gather one thousand of our men and take them to the wall. The wall weakens by the minute and soon it will be down. Make sure they are ready for battle”
“Yes Sire” He bowed before leaving the room.
“William, gather two hundred men and make sure they are stationed around the palace in case and enemy tries to come in”
“Yes Sire” The head of guard muttered before leaving.

“Your majesty, what about the witches?” A counselor asked worriedly.
“Do not worry about that- I’ll contact the high priestess”
Elijah ended the meeting and they all hurriedly leave the meeting room, probably to go hide somewhere. It was just I and Elijah now.
“What happened to your arm?” I asked.
“Cedric attacked me. I think he’s working with Derrick now” He muttered dryly.
“Are you okay?” I asked worriedly palming his cheeks in my hand. “I’m fine” He replied coldly walking towards the window.
The green light wouldn’t stop shining as they kept on attacking the wall. “Why are you like this towards me?” I asked him folding my arms across my chest.
“Fuck Celeste, I told you to stay in the study with our son but you still decide to leave him alone risking his life and yours.”
“He-” “-what if Cedric found you first huh? He would have hurt you” He continued cutting me off.
“First of all, you don’t expect me to leave my son all alone. He’s with my mom and Josephine in the study.” I said with gritted teeth while poking him in the chest with my finger.
“And secondly, I am the queen to this kingdom. I can’t just seat around hiding somewhere while a war goes on and my husband, the king fights all alone” I finished breathing heavily.
His eyes soften and he puts his hands on my shoulders giving it a light squeeze. “I’m sorry,” He mumbled kissing the side of my head. “I just couldn’t bare the thought of something bad happening to you” He added.
“As do I.” I said softly.
He sighed and cup my cheek, “I still need you safe” He muttered and I frown. “You have to think of Micah, think of our unborn child. I need you safe” He added placing his big palm on my stomach.
I sigh knowing he’s right but the thought of something bad happening to him makes me shudder. “Okay fine” I murmured in defeat. “But promise me you’ll be fine” I plead with my hands on his cheek.
“I will, I promise” He said before giving me a kiss.
“Now, I need to contact Hilda” He muttered after our kiss. “We need her coven.”
After that I felt the room and speed walk down the hall. I had a bad feeling and that makes me jog to the study room.
“Mom” I whispered and put my hand on the door ready to knock only for it to open at the contact of my hand.
Josephine, Jordan and Micah where no were to be found but on the floor was mom laying on the ground in the pool of her own blood and I screamed with tears streaming down my face.
