Chapter 53 Retribution

Belle Ye was back at the underground city.

After so many things she had been through, she returned here once again. Echo Xu was surprised by her. She was so weak that Echo was worried she would fall down any second. And this time, Belle’s face was badly wounded, without a decent treat, it might leave scars.

Her heath condition could not get any worse.

But fortunately, she was still breathing after the whole Lewis Qiu thing. On the other hand, Echo was grateful to Barry Mo for bringing Belle back. If Barry should help her like that every time, she would be even more grateful.

But it was only a one-time thing.

That special treatment was for Belle, and Belle only. Echo knew exactly who gave Barry the order to do that, so she dropped her work and took Belle directly to the hospital without asking her questions. After her wounds were taken care of, Belle refused to do any further check, no matter what Echo said.

Belle sat on a chair in the lobby while Echo was fetching her medication. It looked like her soul had long gone and left a breathing corpse, and for that anyone passing her by could not help glancing at her, but she was just sitting there with glazed-eyes.

Then she found Lewis Qiu walking toward her.

Lewis came out of the exam room of psychiatry and seemed to be in a state of torpor. Yet still, he walked slowly to Belle. She was shaking. Her soul returned to the body and restarted her brain, trying to do something to save her life.

He stopped and stood in front of her but kept a distance of five steps.

“I’m sorry. But you should know that I would pick someone else if you had told me you got connected with Ethan Mo.”

He apologized to her and sounded very calm.

That was not what Belle expected.

Lewis gave her a wry look as she was a frightened puppy. Belle felt her heart pumping fiercely and was prepared for any emergency, but he stared at her for several seconds and walked away. Belle was scared, and so was Echo returning from the pharmacy.

“Did he hurt you?” Echo got to her side in a hurry, worrying.

“He apologized.” Belle shook her head and responded.

“What?” She was astonished.

But it did not take long before she recovered her wits. She sat beside Belle and explained.

“He does is an asshole, but at least his consciousness remains a bit. I’ve heard his wife cheated on him and murdered their son with her lover. They got caught and were sentenced to death, but the death of his son broke him entirely. After that, he picked up girls from our club and took them back home to for his creepy hobby from time to time. Our girls hate his gut but we can do nothing about it because he is our guest and he is smart enough to not cross the line and hurt our girls' lives.”

Hearing his story, Belle understood how serious his mental illness was. Luckily, she got out, or who knew what would happen to her.

“Don’t forget to use your medicine. We don’t want your face to gain more scars, right?” She was almost nagging her because Echo knew Belle did not care about her face, and that was not what she wanted.

“Thank you, Echo. I appreciate it. ” Belle said.

“It’s alright. ” Echo looked at her and smiled. “You get some rest. I’ll go back to work.”

To be honest, the reason why she gets into this mess in the first place was she knew Belle had a history with Ethan, but now, she really liked this girl.

Yet still, Echo was curious about her past. She wondered how could a celebrity ended up like this.

Weak and defenseless.

Thinking about that she got back to the club, while Barry sent her a message asking her to meet him in the office.

She had feeling it was Ethan that was waiting for her, and she was right.

“Sir, you want to see me?” She opened the door and saw Ethan sitting in a chair having his back on her.

Ethan Mo was a busy man, but he kept showing up lately. Echo knew it was because of Belle.

“Did you find out why Lewis Qiu picked up Belle Ye?” Ethan turned around and looked at her, seriously.

He sounded calm, and Echo did not saw any expression on his face, but Barry knew he was holding his temper.

“Yes, sir. ” She nodded. “Qiu was about to take Shan Ni home, but she was afraid of getting hurt, so she...”

“So she got herself a scapegoat to take risks. Is that what you want to tell me?”

His tone changed. Echo froze and did not even dare to move her fingers.

Belle Ye did was a scapegoat. Her face was ruined and her personality was weak, so without a doubt, She was at the bottom of the club.

And Echo knew that Shan Ni and Dora bullied her a lot but she never tried to stop them.

Bully was just too normal in their world.

“Sir, I’ll take care of Shan Ni. Please trust me.” She did not want to take his anger.

“What will you do?” He stared at her.
