Chapter 83

Alex’s POV

“They are all in the lounge Alex dear! I’ll call you through once the table is set!” Rinna chirps, as I nod and head in the direction to find my Lottie.

The garden was pretty much almost done back home… another day or two and we can finally have the guys over to see the final result!

I approach the door, slowing in my steps slightly when studying the tone of Anna’s voice as she speaks out loudly – evidently pissed off about something.

What the fuck have I missed?

“She’s a fucking bitch!” I hear Anna yell out, as my brows pull together in concern.

Is she talking about Lottie? She wouldn’t dare…

“Quit it Anna I’m serious!” I hear Del warn her next, as my mind pieces together what must be going on…

Anna is talking about Clara, she must be here too! That explains why Del would be pissed…

“Yeah quit it hun or we will have a serious problem!” Clara’s high pitched tone comes next, confirming my thoughts as I slowly make my way towards the room.

“Sure thing Del! Defend her even after she’s just called Lottie a lazy fucking freeloader!” Anna’s statement causes my body to stiffen, a sudden rush of anger filling me at the thought of Clara insulting her like that.

Lottie has enough going on in her mind today, without that stupid girl calling her names!

With that thought, I enter the room fully, my eyes scanning them before landing on Clara herself…

“She called Lottie WHAT?!” The whole rooms attention turns towards me, as my tone rips through them – making my presence known.

Clara’s eyes widen ever so slightly, before she turns to face Del – seeming to whine and whisper to him.

Del can’t fucking help you out of this one…

My eyes find Lottie’s next, as her mouth opens and closes – scrambling for words that never seem to come. She looks startled, whilst Anna looks furious beside her – having clearly stepped up to defend her best–friend.

Jace avoids all eye contact with anyone, keeping his eyes down in an attempt to stay out of the situation completely…

“Someone better tell me what the fuck is going on!” I boom, as Anna opens her mouth to be the first to proudly speak up-

“Her! She’s just so rude all of the damn time! Why, in the name of hell, do you even want to hang around with us when you very clearly don’t like us?!” Anna rants, her hands following her tone as she points accusingly towards Clara who only glares.

“Who said I ever wanted to hang around with the both of you?! I’m hanging around with my boyfriend and his two best–friends! You two just so happen to always fucking be here!” Clara complains loudly, causing every last inch of me to hate her more if at all possible.

The girl was unbearable… at first, I had hoped that Del would just fuck and dump her… but she’s been around for a couple of months now and it’s becoming suffocating!

“We just so happen to be here? Yeah maybe because Alex is Lottie’s boyfriend and Jace is my cousin you dumb clown! This is my aunts house, if you can’t be fucking nice, then you can leave! Don’t say shit about Lottie for no reason either – how about you mind your own damn business?!” Anna continues to argue with her, seeming to have bottled up a lot of rage until this very moment.

Anna seems to have things under control here.

“What did she say about Lottie?” I question, eyes on Anna expecting for her to speak up, however she is quickly interrupted…

*I didn’t say anything bad Alex believe me! I was just expressing how it was so kind of you to buy Lottie that house and to buy her all of her things.” Clara’s voice comes out in a whine, causing me to cringe and for Anna to scoff.

The bitch was deliberately making snarky comments about how nothing will ever really belong to Lottie because you pay for it all… and that you could chuck her out whenever you feel like it… and

the icing on the cake was how Clara could never be like that with Del because it would make her feel like a lazy freeloader!” Anna rages, as I grow angrier by the minute…

*She is just totally insulting Lottie without actually directly saying it to her! You’re a twisted piece of work Clara and you better stop making my friend feel like shit – I mean it!” Anna completely goes off, as I feel my own temper bubbling when hearing what the girl had actually said.

I just know that Lottie will no doubt think into her words too much… I’ll have to talk to her to give her some reassurance.

“Anna fucking let it go! You’re saying that Clara twisted it when that’s exactly what you just did! Clara was talking about how she would feel in that situation! She didn’t directly call Lottie a damn freeloader!” Del steps in next, causing my brows to pull together at his sudden involvement.

He’s walking on thin ice here…

“Exactly Del! She didn’t directly say it because she knows she can get away with it that way! Stop defending her!” Anna continues to shout, as Jace eyes me now for a reaction…

“Listen up bitch! You really want to test me?” Clara suddenly comes at her next, a sudden confidence boost now knowing that she has Del by her side.

“Yeah, actually, I do! I would love nothing more than to seriously rip those awful straw extensions right off of your scalp!” Anna stands, as Lottie gasps loudly – thinking that she was going to fight.

“Bring it whore! You and your little weird ass friend! From rags to riches that one – thanks to Alex of course! Don’t think Del hasn’t told me about her! About how she got three young men a prison sentence and had to flee from her old town! Now she’s here, living the life of luxury thanks to you lot! Embarrassing!” Clara stands next, spitting the words out like venom as Lottie’s eyes water slightly.

“ENOUGH!” I demand their attention, earning shock and silence from how loud I had yelled.

‘Del, I am giving you all of five seconds, to get that fucking whore out of this house before I end her myself.” I warn him, my eyes holding a promise as Del watches me steadily.

After a brief moment of thought, he seems to understand just how pissed off I am, before he grabs Clara’s forearm and drags her towards the door – passing us on the way out and seeming somewhat pissed off himself at what Clara had just said.

Anna breathes heavily, an attempt to calm herself, as Lottie’s eyes hold water in them – refusing to spill just yet.

‘I was only trying to chill out and watch the damn game!” Jace suddenly fills the silence, as I roll my eyes at his statement.

“She was seriously being so snide! Jace you heard her too!” Anna complains, taking a seat beside Lottie again as she scoots closer in comfort.

“Yeah I’ll admit it, I did think she was trying to push Lottie’s buttons. The comments were uncalled for!” Jace adds, as I nod at the unnecessary situation Clara had caused.

“You’re definitely not a freeloader Lottie! You’d still be here, hanging around with us, even if we all lived on the streets!” Anna turns to her and tells her firmly.

It was true… Lottie was the most humble girl I think I’ve ever met… it wasn’t her fault that she ended up with a rich group of friends who wanted to help make her life a whole lot better.

After all, she deserves it more than anyone else I know considering what she’s gone through!

“Why does she honestly hate us so much?!” Lottie groans and leans back on the sofa, closing her eyes briefly.

“She’s a jealous bitch! She doesn’t like that we hang around with Del and that Del has close relationships with other females besides her! She wants him all to herself!” Anna complains, hitting the nail on the head with her statement.

She’s right… Clara doesn’t have a problem with myself or Jace… just the girls!

“Exactly! I’ll have a word with Del about this because it won’t continue! Not after what I just witnessed!” I announce firmly, meaning my words, as the three of them nod in agreement with me.

I won’t let this happen to Lottie again… not on top of the other shit she’s dealing with now…
