Chapter 31

Lottie’s POV

Thankful that Anna had suggested skipping school today so that we could sort out my increasingly growing situation, I was now sat on her sofa wrapped in a blanket with sore heavy eyes.

Alex was out in the back yard with Jace and Del who were trying to keep him as calm as possible…

I felt guilty for refusing to give up Jason, Tommy and Holdens names, but I didn’t want him to get involved.

The three of them could seriously hurt him… although I knew that Alex was twice their size and had seen him almost kill a man in the ring on Saturday night, those three were certified psychopaths who would no doubt make a plan to torture and kill us all!

I can’t underestimate them…

Alex however, after I didn’t give him their names, hasn’t stopped yelling and throwing things around in a total rage! I wish he wouldn’t waste his time caring about my problems so much…

“Lottie, my Dad said that you don’t have to panic! He said if we just give them a call, tell them that you’re safe and then give them an address then they will most likely just show up here to check that you’re ok! After that they should leave you alone.” Anna sits down beside me, handing me a hot chocolate as I thank her.

A–Are you sure? Is it going to be that easy?” I gulp, not fully trusting that this will be the end of it all… as I take a sip of the warm comforting drink she had made me.

“He said if we give them my aunts address, which is just Jaces house, and have her vouch for you and show them around to prove that you’re being taken care of then they can’t do anything about it. You’re technically old enough to live on your own anyway but they just have to do a welfare check because you aren’t eighteen yet – it’s unfortunately their job because the school have raised it as a concern.” Anna explains, as I listen to her intently – hoping that what she was saying was in fact true.

“B–But they can’t tell anyone where I am right? I don’t want anyone, even my Mom to know where I am after they do the check!” My anxiety rises at the thought of the officers passing over my new location to the wrong people after their visit…

“No I think you can request for them not to, you have a right to privacy if you don’t feel safe at home!” Anna comforts me, as I suddenly flinch hearing a loud crash coming from outside.

I turn to Anna, as she slaps a hand on her forehead and groans loudly.

“If he smashes anything of mine out there then I swear I’ll smack him so hard that the other two will feel it! I’ve put a lot of effort into that garden!” Anna complains, referring to Alex‘ tantrum, as I smile slightly at her humour.

“He seriously does care about you… although he has a f**ked up way of showing it!” Anna suddenly states, as I shake my head at the statement, unable to agree. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Somebody like Alex could never be with somebody as tainted as me, my life and my emotions are just too much for anyone to take on – Im forever going to be broken and weird compared to all of the other girls that he could have.

“I can’t thank you enough for sticking by me… even after what I told you…” I feel the need to tell Anna, as I keep my voice quiet.

push back my long hair, moving it out of my face, as Anna blinks at me a few times looking confused…

“Girl are you joking me right now? You should have stabbed that prick ten times more after what they did to you! He’s lucky to still be crawling around this earth the f**king pig that he is!” Anna’s next rant causes my jaw to drop in shock.

Did she just say that I should have stabbed and hurt him more? That is certainly not the reaction I had expected! To think I had been dreading telling her about my past for her to only blurt out that as a response!

“Seriously Lottie! They deserve every bit of pain they get as far as I’m concerned! They sound awful!” Anna adds, as I find myself nodding in agreement with her now.

True…

“They are as awful as any human could get… I just have this constant dread now that they will eventually find me… they won’t be able to get over the fact that I did that and got away with it! For a while I was terrified that they would tell the cops about what I did.” I whisper, afraid that anybody would hear me.

“Well you know, I actually asked Alex about that because I was sort of worried about the same thing after you told me what happened… and after all I figured he was the perfect person to help since he is the total master criminal of the group!” Anna laughs, causing my blood to run cold slightly.

What does she mean he’s the ‘master criminal‘ of the group… what did he do to earn that title? Maybe she’s referring to his illegal fights?

“But Alex said they wouldn’t have told the cops about you stabbing that guy… he said they’re smart enough to know that it would likely backfire on them in the long run!” Anna tells me, as I tilt my head and ponder on her words.

I turn when hearing the door open, seeing Alex, Del and Jace enter the living area all taking a seat on the large sofa chairs filling up the

room.

Done destroying my garden?” Anna instantly teases, as Alex just shoots her a glare and turns his attention to me.

“Those p*ssy f**king bastards wouldn’t have told the cops because the cops would have investigated it and would have found too much evidence leading back to them! They would’ve been the ones getting sentenced for the shit they did to you so you don’t need to worry about that!” Alex speaks directly to me, as I grow awkward in–front of the others.

I glance around at them all, feeling shameful that they had skipped school to help me out with this shit show of a situation…

“I’m really sorry everyone… you didn’t need to be dragged into all of this… I really did just want to start over and ignore my past.” I find myself apologising, as the four of them listen intently to me.

“F**k off with that shit Lottie! The minute this lunatic introduced you into the group we knew you where here for the long run! We stick together!” Del is the first to speak, as he waves me off and seems unbothered with the whole scenario which I find myself being grateful for.

“Yeah it’s not often that Anna makes a friend who can handle her for this long! I’m thankful you’re here to keep her from annoying the hell out of me!” Jace states next, as Anna scoffs and rolls her eyes which causes a smile to grow on my l*ps.

Their little cousinly fights always did make me laugh!

“You’re one of us now so like it or lump it doll, we don’t let bad shit happen to anybody in this group!” Alex is the last of the three boys to speak which surprises me, as he stares right through me – stern and straight to the point with his words.

“Yeah and you’ve officially been my best friend since we met on the street so I won’t let you leave here either!” Anna adds quickly, causing me to giggle as she throws her arms around me in a quick hug.

I really was overwhelmed and thankful to have fell into this group… just when I thought I was stuck living in hell, they came along and

saved me…

“I really am grateful… and again I’m sorry for any trouble that I’ve caused… and for also being weird when I first met you guys… I wasn’t really great around males, you know?” I admit awkwardly again and attempt to force a laugh, as they shrug and wave me off seeming understanding.

Now are you going to give us their names yet or what?” Alex deadpans, as my eyes widen…

Just when I thought he had gotten over it…
