20 minutes later, she was about to head back with her hands full of groceries. It was then that she saw Paul walking toward her amid the glow of the setting

The sky was slightly darker now, but he was enshrouded in an orange glow. It made him seem even taller than he already wa

He stared right ahead as he walked, as though he was wholly focused even when he was walking.

“What a coincidence! We meet again.” Miranda greeted him.

Paul looked up and adjusted his glasses. “A coincidence, indeed.”

Have you had dinner? I bought some groceries. Do you want to have dinner together?”

Paul instinctively wanted to decline her offer. But upon recalling what a good cook she was, he inexplicably nodded instead.

It was his first time in Miranda’s apartment.

On the balcony right across the room, the tulips were in full bloom. Behind it was a cubic fish tank, in which two goldfish were swimming

In the golden rays of the setting sun, the white curtains billowed as the breeze blew. The cherry wood furniture gave the room a warm atmosphere. It was homely, serene, and blissful.

On the glass coffee table were a few books and exercises used to prepare for the postgraduate exams. With a quick glance, he knew the answers written in black on the papers were nearly perfect.

“What would you like to drink?

“A glass of water would do.”

Miranda poured him a glass of warm water.

“Thanks.”

“I bought too many vegetables today. Having a fondue would be just right.”

She opened her grocery bags to reveal a wide variety of vegetables. There was also some beef and a packet of handmade beef balls. She still had some cow bone leftover from before. She was all set to prepare a light beef broth fondue.

“One of your answers to the multiple–choice questions is wrong,” Paul said suddenly.

Miranda followed his gaze and saw the exercises she’d just completed that morning. She obviously knew which question he was talking about.

“That’s so embarrassing. That question is an interdisciplinary one that involves both biology and physics. I still don’t understand much about the dynamics.”

“The choice of potential is closely related to the computation of dynamics. Choosing different potentials will result in different potential energy surfaces in the system.

“The physical movement of molecules and the trajectory of atoms within molecules obtained in dynamics computation will also be affected,” Paul said.

Miranda was stunned. She fell into deep thought. A couple of seconds later, her eyes lit up. “So that’s how it is!”

Paul was surprised to see her grasping the concept so quickly. “Did you understand what I said?”

“Most of it,” Miranda replied honestly. “I read your research notes in the library and have a basic understanding of molecular dynamics.”

“You understood what I wrote?”

Miranda hummed in acknowledgment.

Paul looked bashful, which was rare. “That was a note I wrote during my undergraduate years.” He cleared his throat and continued, “There are many misspelled words in it.”

Miranda couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Truth be told, there were

indeed quite a number of misspelled words.

“You’re smart and adept at this. The postgraduate exams won’t be much of a problem for you.”

Miranda’s smile widened. “Really? I’ll take your word for that.”

Calvin glanced at the bag in Hansel’s hands. He was walking around with an accessory worth nearly a million dollars; it swung back and forth with hist every move.

Calvin clicked his tongue. Who was he putting on that show for? The store offered delivery service, but Hansel had refused it.

But alas, they didn’t meet Miranda on their way out.

Calvin suggested, “It’s late. Should we have dinner first?”

Disinterested, Hansel hummed in agreement. “You choose the place.”

Calvin chose a well–known family restaurant nearby. They requested a private room on the second floor where they would get a good view and a serene environment.

The waiter gave them the menu. There was an extensive list of dishes in Yvonnian cuisine, with a wide variety of broths. Calvin almost went cross- eyed trying to choose what he wanted to eat.
