Chapter 2 Tryouts pt. 1
Chapter 2 Tryouts pt. 1
Vincent's POV
The next morning I grabbed a pop tart and ran to school. Once I got there I was out of breath.
"Hey." a voice said.
I looked up and it was Mason. I stood up instantly.
"Hey." I breathed out.
"Next time you could ride in my car to school," he said.
"Huh?" I said, still trying to catch my breath.
He smiled then started writing on a piece of paper. "Here's my number, see ya," he said and walked off.
OMG, I just got a hot boy's number. And it's not just any boys but Mason's. I danced around. And when
I jumped-
"Ahhhh!" I yelled when I came face to face with Sammie.
"Why are you acting like a lunatic," he asked, shaking his head.
"Don't be jealous," I smirked.
"Jealous of what?" he asked, taking the paper from me.
"Hey?!" I said snatching it back after he looked at it.
"What is so special about him?" he asked, looking a bit annoyed.
"What's your problem?" I asked.
"Oh nothing," he said walking ahead.
"Wait you want some of me too," I said hugging him from behind.
"Get off," he said, struggling to get out of my grasp.
"What are you two doing?" someone asked.
I looked to my right and it was Derrick.
"Flirting," I said with a smirk and pulling Sammie closer.
"Stop I need air!" he gasps.
I let him go and he gasps more. "You're a big baby," I said and he stuck his tongue out.
"No one wants to see you flirting," Veronica said, coming out of nowhere.
"And no one wants to see your ugly face," I said rolling my eyes.
"Poor new kid," she said and walked over to Sammie.
"Your not gay are you?" she asked, getting all in his space.
"That's none of your business," I said pulling Sammie behind me.
"Is he your new boy toy?" she asked, smirking.
"Uh huh," I said and Sammie looked up at me.
"Oh really?" she asked walking closer. "Prove it," she said.
"I don't have to prove anything to you," I said.
"Right," Sammie said, nodding his head.
"Well then I can take him," she said.
"He's a person, not a toy," Derrick said rolling his eyes.
"Well if you insist on me proving," I said and nibbled on Sammie's ear.
"Wha-What are you doing," Sammie said with his face completely red and pushing me off.
"See he doesn't like it," she said.
"Fine, but he doesn't belong to you. Now let's go, Sammie." I said grabbing his arm and pulling him into
the building.
During gym
"Alright, football tryouts will be going on." Coach Kal said while both gym classes sat on the floor.
"Ugh, football," I said.
"What, do you not like football?" Sammie asked.
"Not really, why?" I said.
"Well, I was thinking of trying out," Sammie said looking at shoes.
"There's no way a shorty like you would survive." I laughed.
"I'm gonna try out too," Derrick said.
"Good luck," I said to Derrick.
"Oh, so you tell him good luck but tell me I can't," Sammie said, seeming pissed.
"You can try and I'll be at your funeral," I said smirking.
"Ha ha ha very funny," he said.
"So are you trying out?" a voice said.
I looked up and it was Mason. "Um, I wasn't planning on to. Are you?" I said.
"Yeah," he said smiling. "I think it'll be fun," he said.
"Well, maybe I'll try out," I said and Derrick's eyes widened and Sammie looked annoyed.
"I thought you hated football," Sammie said with slanted eyes.
"Shut up. I never said I hated it." I said through clenched teeth.
Mason laughed. "So you don't like football?" he asked.
"Well um not really," I said looking down.
"Well if you change your mind....you know we could practice together.
Derrick's eyes widened more and Sammie's and my jaw dropped.
"I'll give it a try I guess," I said smiling a bit.
"Cool," he said and walked off.
He wants me. I can feel it.
"I got him begging for me," I said as we talked at lunch.
"Maybe," Derrick said.
"And to think that hot body will be mine," I said, eating a fry.
Sammie looked up from his tray. "Shut up Vincent, nobody wants to hear that when they're eating," he
said glaring at me.
"When you're annoyed it's cute," I said smirking and eating another fry.
His face heated up. "Eat your food and shut it," he said, throwing a fry at me.
"Awww he's mad," I said.
Derrick laughed and shook his head. After school, I went to Derrick's house.
"So when are you going on your little date with April?" I asked flipping the channels on his TV.
"April and I are just friends," he said, taking off his shirt.
"Derrick I don't want to see that from you," I said scratching up my nose.
"My bad you want to see Mason doing that," he said laughing.
"Yeah, I do," I said grinning.
Then I remembered I had Mason's number. I decided to text him.
Hey, I sent.
He didn't respond. I sighed.
"Are you texting your mom?" he asked.
"Are you saying I don't have friends?" I said offended.
"Besides me and Sammie....yeah," he said and grinned.
"Jerk," I said.
My phone started to vibrate. I picked it up and smiled.
Hey Vin
Is that a nickname? I sent while smirking.
Maybe...do you like it?
Yeah, I sent.
So are you trying out?
Maybe I sent while biting my lip.
"Who are you texting?" Derrick asked, flopping down next to me on his bed.
"Mason," I said with a smirk coming onto my face.
"Ohhh really?" he said trying to peek on my phone but I made sure it was out of view.
"Stop being noisy," I said playfully, shoving him.
"Whatever even though you're in my room," he said rolling his eyes.
I stuck my tongue out and I got another message.
Hey, are you free this Saturday?
I don't know probably...why? I sent while smiling.
You wanna see a movie later?
Are you asking me on a date? I sent while smirking.
"You're weird," Derrick said.
"Shut up," I said glaring up at him.
That depends on your answer
I smiled. Yes I'll go I sent.
It's a date! I'll pick you up at 7
Great I sent.
Can't wait bye ;)
Me too :) I sent.
I exhaled and fell back on the bed. "I got a date," I said amazed.
"What?" Darrick said, coughing his water.
"I have a date!" I said sitting up. "I got a date with Mason!" I said jumping on his bed.
Darrick smiled and watched me jump up and down. "I'm happy for you," he said, kicking me, making
me fall face first on his bed.
"Why you gotta be so rude." I tried to sing but it was muffled. I sat up and glared at him. "Don't try to
ruin my spirit," I said.
"Yeah my bad." he laughed.
Next day while going to lunch
"What's the big news?" Sammie keeps asking as we walk to our table.
"Just tell him so he'll shut up," Derrick said rolling his eyes.
We sat down at the table. Derrick sat in front of Sammie and I sat next to Sammie.
"Okay, now I'll tell you," I said.
"Well, what is it?" Sammie asked while opening his milk.
"Okay, are you ready?" I asked and Sammie just drank his milk. "Okay, I have a date with Mason," I
said excitedly.
Sammie spits out his milk onto Derrick. He started coughing. I pushed the napkins toward Derrick. He
glared at him then me.
"Are you serious?" Sammie asked after wiping his mouth with his sleeve.
"I'm going to the nurse's office," Derrick said, glaring at us before he left.
"Yeah, why?" I said.
"I mean you barely know him," he said.
"I can get to know him on the date," I said smiling.
"Whatever," he said rolling his eyes. "Just don't come crying to me," he said before drinking his milk.
I slanted my eyes and crossed my arms. "And what is that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"I just don't feel something right about him," he said after slamming his milk on the tray.
"And why is that?" I said getting a bit aggravated.
"I'm not trying to offend you," he said.
"Well, you are," I said standing up.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"To the bathroom," I said brushing past him.
I pushed my way out the cafeteria to the bathroom. I stared at the mirror.
"What's his problem? Can't he be happy for me?" I said.
The door opened. It was Sammie.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked as he turned on the sink.
"Washing my hands," he said, scrubbing the soap in both of his hands.
He turned off the sink and started to dry his hands. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt your feelings," he
said.
"It's fine," I said not really meaning it.
"No I'm serious," he said and he grabbed a paper towel and opened the door. "Are you coming?" he
asked, throwing away the paper towel and keeping the door open with his back.
I smirked. "Thanks for coming to see if I was alright," I whispered as I walked past him.
"I came to wash my hands!" he yelled as we walked to the cafeteria.
"Yeah, sure you did," I said, opening the doors.
I looked over to the table. Derrick was wearing a different shirt. I looked at Sammie's tray and he had
an orange on it. Liar. We sat down and Derrick glared at us.
"You make him spit milk on me, then when I come back you're both not here," Derrick said.
"Sorry," we said.
After school, we went to the gym to try out.
"Do you think I'll get in?" Sammie asked, grabbing his shirt and tugging at it nervously.
"Nah," I said and he glared at me. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Thanks for the support friend," he said.
"Anytime," I said smiling with a thumbs up. Derrick laughed as Sammie glared more.
Mason came out of the gym grinning and hi-fiving friends. I breathed his scent as he walked past.
"Creepy," Sammie said.
"That's only one of the things he does," Derrick said, shaking his head.
Eventually, it was Sammie's turn. "Wish me good luck," he said, opening the door to the gymnasium.
"Break a leg," I said. He glared at me then walked in. After a while, he came out and stood on the other
wall.
"How did it go?" Derrick asked.
"Did you fall?" I asked.
"Don't want to talk about it and shut up Vincent," he said, glaring at me at the last part.
"Well don't jinx us," Derrick said going into the gym. He came out two seconds later.
"That was fast," I said.
Derrick smirked. "He said I'll be perfect," he said.
"Lucky bastard," I said.
"How?" Sammie said, shaking his head not believing this.
