I Want A Lifetime With You Chapter 538
Chapter 538
Chapter 538 Dream
Shen Qianan did not sleep well that night. Her head felt heavy, and her mind was confused as if someone had replaced her brain with something. She kept thinking about her identity and relationship with Shi Nuan and Su Huaibei.
The connection between everyone in her dream was not clear, nor did she know what she wanted to do, but she could picture their faces vividly. She saw Shi Nuan, Shen Shixiu, Su Huaibei, and Shu Qing. Many people flashed across her mind in her dream and disappeared without a trace after a split second.
She wanted to chase after them, but they were moving too fast. She failed to catch up to them even as she sprinted. Shen Qianan felt as if she was shrouded in a thick tog, staring at their figures getting further away.
Then, she ran faster and saw Yu. Yu smiled sheepishly at her amidst the dense fog, waving her over. She could hear him calling her “Mommy” in his sweet voice. She jogged toward him in exhilaration but noticed that Yu was gone when she got closer. Instead, a tall and muscular man appeared before her.
She could not discern that man’s face even though he was not wearing a mask. Shen Qianan thought she was standing too far, so she went a little closer. However, regardless of her attempt to get nearer to him, that man would always take a few steps back, keeping a distance from her.
She stretched out her hand and lurched forward to grab him, but her effort was for naught.
Shen Qianan lay on the bed with her eyes shut. She felt as if she was undulating on the surface of the sea. That sensation gave her the false impression that she was floating on clouds. She went after that man, desperate to move forward, but merely felt herself landing heavily on the ground as if she was free-falling while taking an elevator.
Finally, she was able to see that man’s face clearly. He had a chiseled jawline and distinctive facial features. She walked up to him, wearing a dazzling smile. “Jue,” she called him by his name. The word slipped out of her mouth naturally in her dream.
When that man heard her voice, he stopped abruptly and stood rooted to his spot, fixating his eyes on her. “Qian!”
Shen Qianan shuddered. Before she could say another word, the scenes around her suddenly changed. A woman who looked exactly like her stood in front of her. A man was restraining that woman. Shen Qianan instinctively stepped forward to separate them. She saw that man taking out a gun and pointing the muzzle at the woman who shared her appearance. Without a second thought, she rushed ahead hysterically and stood in front of the woman. “Shi Nuan!”
She was taken aback when the bullet went through her body. Subsequently, that man came running in her direction and called her, “Qian.” His voice rang distinctly beside her ears. She fell into his arms, grinning. “Fu Sijue.”
Blood gushed out from the wound on her chest, staining her entire body and his torso. He held her tightly in his arms. Then, a knife materialized in her hand. She stabbed the knife right into his heart. It was a gory sight.
“Ahh!”
Shen Qianan sat up on her bed all of a sudden. She gazed ahead of her in a daze.
Sunlight was already pouring in through the window. She was shivering, and her hands were trembling.
Shen Qianan finally accustomed her eyes to the brightly-lit room before shifting her gaze to look at her hands.
Her hands were still shaking. That response seemed to be her body’s reflexes of telling her that what she imagined in her head earlier was not just a dream.
Shen Qianan stared dumbfoundedly at her hands. Although she knew that it was a dream, the scenes were simply too realistic, to the extent that she could not erase those images from her mind, nor could she convince herself that it was merely a dream.
That man who had appeared in her dream had seemed so real. He had called her Qian.
Qian!
A grin spread across Shen Qianan’s face.
Her whole life, people had referred to her as Ms. Qianan, Shen Qianan, or Qianan. Even during that period when she was closest to Fu Cheng Yan, the latter had at most addressed her as Qianan. Qian was the name used only by that man.
She placed a hand over her forehead and shut her eyes.
In fact, Shen Qianan had not thought about her kidnapping incident four years ago after so many years had passed. She was reluctant to recall how she had survived those few months. Still, the memories inexplicably resurfaced within her mind after she met with Shi Nuan yesterday and was informed of all those things, including the news that he had been secretly keeping an eye on her while she was at C Country in the past few years.
Shen Qianan did not know the proper way to handle those emotions. She felt at a loss for having to face all these issues all of a sudden.
“Mommy!”
Yu held Shen Qianan’s finger with one hand while rubbing his groggy eyes with the others. Evidently, he had just woken up.
Shen Qianan was pulled back to reality. Warmth filled her chest at the sight of Yu’s adorable demeanor. She had temporarily tossed her dream to the back of her mind. “You’re awake, Yu?” She reached out to pinch his nose. He clicked his tongue in response and stretched his arms wide. “Mommy, hug me.”
Shen Qianan agreed to hug him. She held Yu in her embrace, and the latter wriggled mischievously in her arms. “Mommy, I’m hungry.”
“Get up then. I’ll bring you to meet someone today.”
“Who’s that?” Yu blinked his eyes at her. Shen Qianan’s heart softened at that sight. She thought he was the cutest boy ever. She patted his head and said, “Your aunt. I’m bringing you to meet your aunt!”
“Aunt? What is an aunt?” Yu was very young and had been living with Shen Qianan since he was little. He was not familiar with the word “aunt” because he did not grow up with any other relatives.
She was momentarily dazed before she let out a chuckle and pinched his nose. “My younger sister is your aunt. She’s your biological aunt.”
“Mommy’s younger sister?” Yu blinked at her. “When did you get a younger sister?”
“Yes, that’s right. I reunited with her yesterday. Are you happy, Yu? Your aunt is my younger sister, and she’s related to me by blood. However, we’ve never known or met one another before. I’ll bring you to see her today. What do you say, Yu?” Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“All right. Sure. I like Mommy, and I’ll like my aunt too!” Naturally, Yu was delighted upon hearing that.
Yu did not have many friends since he was small, so he was thrilled to learn that he had an aunt now.
Shen Qianan helped Yu get washed up and brought him to have his meal at a breakfast shop outside. Then, the two of them went to the hospital leisurely.
She was able to locate Shi Nuan’s ward very quickly because she had visited that place yesterday.
Before going to the hospital, Shen Qianan deliberately brought Yu to a flower shop and purchased a bouquet of baby’s breath. The flower had a faint fragrance and was not overly striking in appearance.
Shen Qianan held Yu with one hand while holding the bouquet of flowers in the other hand. Yu wanted to have his own flowers, too, when he saw his mother having one. Therefore, she purchased a small bouquet for him to hold too. The two of them walked on the corridors inside the hospital, turning heads in their direction on their way to the ward.
Fu Cheng Yan knew Shen Qianan was coming that day. He instructed his bodyguards to stay hidden nearby, so the room was no different from an ordinary ward.
Shen Qianan chatted casually with Yu along the way. He wore a coy and shy expression, holding his mother’s hand as they strolled. “Mommy, will my aunt like me?”
“She will. You’re so adorable, so she will definitely like you.” Shen Qianan crouched down and punched Yu’s nose. “Remember to greet your aunt when you meet her later, all right?”
“Okay. Since my aunt likes me, I like her very much too!”
“You’re so cheeky!” She could not help but smile in response. She hesitated briefly before she knocked on the door when they arrived in front of Shi Nuan’s ward. Still, she pushed open the door and walked inside.
Shi Nuan was awake at that moment. She was reading a book in silence while Fu Chengyan was staring at his laptop, handling work-related matters on a couch placed in the corner of the room. Shen
Qianan felt a pang of envy, taking in that scene although the couple was not engaged in a conversation.
They appeared harmonious together. Even though Fu Chengyan was absorbed in his work, his demeanor was gentle and relaxed. He did not seem cold and distant, as he usually did whenever he was with Shen Qianan.
Shen Qianan slightly pursed her lips and entered the ward while holding Yu’s hand.
Shi Nuan placed the book in her hands down. She was slightly astounded to see Shen Qianan and Yu’s arrival. “You’re early?”
“I know, but Yu has been pestering me to bring him to meet with you.” Shen Qianan lowered herself into a half-squat and tugged her son’s hand. “This is your aunt. Did you not promise me that you would greet your aunt when you meet her? Why are you being so quiet now?”
Her voice was soft. She caressed Yu’s head and said, “You can move closer to your aunt.”
Yu had seen Shi Nuan before, but they were at the Fu residence. Moreover, Shen Qianan had not specifically reminded him to greet Shi Nuan. Children tended to be forgetful. When Yu saw Shi Nuan’s face, he blinked his eyes and cocked his head in perplexity. “Mommy, why does my aunt look exactly like you?”
Shi Nuan giggled upon hearing his question. She waved at him. “Come over here, Yu.”
Yu hesitated. He gazed at Shen Qianan as if to seek his mother’s assurance.
Shen Qianan beamed at him. “Go ahead.”
Yu stepped forward and handed the tiny bouquet of baby’s breath to Shi Nuan in embarrassment. “Aunt Nuan, this is a present from me. Do you like it?”
“Of course. You’re such a good boy, Yu.” Shi Nuan bent down, picked Yu up, and placed him at her bedside.
Fu Chengyan was silent all along. However, he furrowed his brows when he saw Shi Nuan holding Yu up.
Shi Nuan sensed the changes in Fu Chengyan’s expression. She was bewildered for a split second before shifting her gaze onto her stomach. “I’m fine. Yu is very light.”
Fu Chengyan was unconvinced. He continued to wear the frown, seemingly in displeasure. Nonetheless, he did not blatantly express his dissatisfaction.
Shen Qianan felt a little awkward. At that moment, Shi Nuan piped up, “Don’t just stand there. Take a seat.” Then, she looked at Fu Chengyan. “Yan, pour a cup of water for my sister.”
After the words left Shi Nuan’s mouth, she felt as if the air had gone completely still inside the ward. Shen Qianan stood rooted to her spot in silence. She did not expect Shi Nuan to address her in that manner. Fu Chengyan fell into a daze after listening to Shi Nuan too, but he swiftly recollected himself and nodded. “Please take a seat. I’ll pour you a glass of water.”
He really stopped focusing on his work while uttering those words and got up to pour Shen Qianan a glass of water. After that, he gazed at Yu, who was standing next to Shi Nuan, and asked, “Have you had your breakfast?”
