Chapter 18 Promise to be Chasel's Girlfriend
"Oh, right." Chasel suddenly realized.
He took off his coat and his sunglasses and adjusted his short hair in the rearview mirror to make him
look more ordinary. Then he raised his eyebrows and looked at Eudora. "How about now?"
"Not bad," said Eudora.
"Okay, let's go." Chasel opened the door while talking and took four nutritional supplements from
inside.
"Why did you bring that?"
Eudora was about to take Chasel to the supermarket to buy a fruit basket. She didn't expect he would
prepare gifts.
"As your boyfriend, how could I not bring anything when I visit my future mother-in-law?"
Chasel raised his eyebrows at her and smiled.
"Okay. Then I'll pay you back later."
"Never mind."
The two entered Steele Hospital together. On the way, Chasel asked about the situation of Eudora's
adoptive parents.
He also took the opportunity to ask about Eudora's birthday, saying it was in case of a giveaway. But
actually, he just wanted to know more about Eudora.
Although everyone thought Eudora was ugly, Chasel felt she was real, frank, and not flattering to him.
Plus, she was different.
On the 21st floor of the inpatient department, Eudora brought Chasel into the ward. "Mom, I'm here
with the food."
Chasel followed Eudora into the ward. When he saw Mildred, he restrained his playful look and smiled
politely at Mildred. "Mrs. Stanford, my name is Chasel Burke, and I'm Eudora's boyfriend. Sorry, I
haven't visited you before. I just came back from a business trip. Please don't be angry."
Mildred looked at Chasel, a very capable and clean boy in a white shirt, suit pants, short black hair, and
handsome facial features.
"So glad you could come. You don't have to bring all these things. Put them here, and have a seat."
Mildred pointed to the sofa and asked Chasel to sit while she sat beside Chasel. "Chasel, right?"
"Yes, Mrs. Stanford."
On a typical day, Chasel always acted rowdy. He would sit on the sofa, habitually crossing his legs and
resting his hands on the back of the sofa like a big boss.
But now, in front of Mildred, he sat upright and put away the unruliness on his face, as if he had
changed into a different person.
"You are handsome and elegant. How could you like Eudora? Are you a fake boyfriend invited by
Eudora?"
Mildred knew Eudora well and saw things through at a glance.
Eudora's heart skipped a beat. She was nervous for Chasel, for fear that he would ruin the act.
"Mr. Stanford, you couldn't say that. I never judge people by their appearance. Although Eudora looks
average, she has a good soul, and I like her very much."
"Really?"
"Of course." From NôvelDrama.Org.
"Have you thought about marriage?"
Mildred suddenly changed the topic. Eudora didn't know if Mildred was really worried that Eudora
couldn't get married or because she was trying to find out Chasel's true identity by surprise.
"Mom, it's the first time you saw Chasel. How could you ask him about that?" Eudora was speechless.
"Shut up. I'm talking to Chasel," Mildred scolded.
Chasel glanced at Eudora and rubbed his hands involuntarily, feeling slightly nervous.
He hadn't felt that way for many years.
Chasel smiled politely and said, "Mrs. Stanford, I need to discuss with Eudora about that. There is no
rush for such a thing."
"Drop the act," Mildred patted Chasel's shoulder and said, "I know what is going on. My daughter is
'ugly'. You deserve better."
Chasel was handsome. Although he was dressed in ordinary clothes, he got a quality that made him
different from ordinary people.
"Mom..."
Eudora was sad. She didn't expect Mildred to see through the truth.
Chasel shrugged, sighed, and said, "Okay, then. I won't do this anymore."
He stood up and walked towards Eudora.
Just when Eudora was about to scold Chasel, he suddenly stopped in front of her and said, "Since Mrs.
Stanford is here today, I'd like to make a confession again. Eudora, I have liked you for a long time.
Can you be my girlfriend? Although I look unreliable, I will prove to you with actions that I am worthy of
your entrustment."
With her eyes widened, Eudora was stunned by the sudden reversal.
What the hell was Chasel doing?
Just as she was in a daze, Chasel suddenly winked at her.
Eudora realized he was acting!
"I... I..." Eudora tactfully cooperated, "I just asked you to pretend to be a boyfriend. Chasel, please don't
do this. We're really not right for each other."
"We don't know if things work out until we spend some time together. I really don't judge people by their
appearance. Mrs. Stanford is watching, and I hope you will give me a chance."
"I don't think so. We can only be friends. You deserve better."
Chasel grabbed her hand, knelt down on one knee suddenly, and took out a square brocade box from
his trousers pocket. "There are too many good faces in the world. I've seen enough. But you are
different. Although you are not pretty, you are kind-hearted, hardworking, and progressive. You are a
rare good girl. Eudora, will you be my girlfriend?"
There was a beautiful, delicate four-leaf clover pendant in the brocade box.
His every word seemed to come from the heart, and even his eyes were so sincere.
If Chasel hadn't winked at her just now, Eudora almost thought Chasel was really confessing his love to
her.
He got excellent acting skills.
"Wow, there is a handsome guy confessing."
"So gorgeous. But the girl is mediocre. That must be true love."
"I'm so envious. I want such a boyfriend."
The door of the ward was open, so a few nurses coming back from lunch happened to see this scene.
They stopped and even recorded video with their mobile phones.
They met Eudora every day, so they were familiar with her.
"Eudora, say yes."
"He is so sweet. Come on. Say yes."
"Yeah. You won't get this chance again."
The few nurses jumped up excitedly, looking more excited than Eudora.
Sitting on the sofa, Mildred smiled and said, "Eudora, Chasel seems really mean that. Why don't you
go out with him?"
Chasel was okay with Eudora's "ugly" face, which made Mildred feel he was a good person.
Maybe they could spend some time together.
When the time was right, and he wanted to take Eudora to see his parents, Mildred and Ansel should
have already been discharged.
At that time, Eudora would no longer have to pretend to be ugly in front of the Baldwin family, and she
could visit Chasel's parents with her real face.
In this case, their marriage could be settled.
"Mom, I..."
Eudora finally understood that Mildred was really afraid that she would not find a boyfriend with an ugly
face, so she was anxious to push her out.
She curled her lips, looked helplessly at Chasel, and asked, "Then we spend some time together?"
