Chapter 224
Mother and Wife
Lily immediately understood what Benjamin meant.
She smiled and said, "Of course, will you buy it for me?"
Benjamin smiled and said, "It will depend on your performance."
Lily glanced at him, then turned around and hooked her arm around Harper's, complaining, "Harper, he can't even satisfy me with such a small hobby. You are his wife, and you have to help me."
Harper was stunned, especially when the words "you are his wife" made Harper's cheeks blush.
Harper said softly, "He didn't mean it. Benjamin was just joking with you."
"Was he really just joking?"
"Yeah."
"Then you ask him if he will buy the bracelet for me? He will listen to what you say. I can't control him anymore, now he is your husband, you take care of him."
Lily, like a child, said it and then pushed Harper in front of Benjamin.
Lily wanted Harper and Benjamin to interact with each other, and they knew it. Harper didn't want to make Lily unhappy, so she had no choice but to do as she said.
She looked up at Benjamin and asked, "You will buy the bracelet for Lily, right?"
Benjamin, with no change in expression, asked, "What do you think?"
"I think you should buy it."
"Um."
Harper thought, "Is he agreeing or refusing?"
Harper was still stunned, and Lily clapped happily. "See, I knew it. Harper is still more powerful. Benjamin doesn't listen to me anymore. When a son gets married, the mother has to stand behind the wife." Harper awkwardly lowered her head.
The atmosphere quieted down.
Lily winked at Benjamin to signal him to take over the conversation, but Benjamin didn't react at all.
Lily couldn't help but ask, "How did you come?"
"We drove here separately."
"Benjamin, give me your car keys. I'll drive your car home. I can't drive your dad's car. Aren't you going to see Harper's grandmother? Then you guys can share a car. Harper, what do you think?"
"Okay."
Harper couldn't refuse at all.
After Lily drove away from the parking lot, they got into Harper's car.
The limited space inside the car made it impossible for Harper to ignore Benjamin's dominant aura. Harper remained calm and pressed on the gas pedal.
They drove in silence the whole way without any conversation.
After a while, the car smoothly stopped in front of the apartment building. They took the elevator to Harper's floor, and Harper knocked on the door opposite her own. Benjamin thought she lived in the same apartment as Eleanor, but he didn't expect her to rent the apartment across the hall as well.
He was slightly surprised but quickly gained his composure.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Eleanor looked up. Despite being in her seventies, Eleanor was very neat and cultured. She smiled and asked, "Is this Benjamin?"
Eleanor recognized Benjamin. EverAll text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
since she found out that Harper was
getting married, she had specifically asked Henry to show her Benjamin's photo and tell her his name. Eleanor had a good memory, so sheo immediately recognized him.
Benjamin also smiled. His smile was warm, his demeanor was proper and his voice was very gentle. "Yes, it's me. Grandma, I apologize for taking so long to visit you. You're not angry, are you?"
"Of course not. Come and sit down." Eleanor smiled warmly and then said to Harper, "Harper, bring some water for Benjamin."
