But Curtis, as always, had a warm expression and a respectful attitude. "Ms. Davis, thank you for your reminder. It's just that I really can't disclose the company's matters to you, and I'm currently in charge of handling your mom's surgery at the hospital. Mr. Martin has already left the company matters to others to take care of, so I may just have to waste your kindness."
Lauren was visibly displeased but ultimately didn't say anything else.
Curtis came out of the ward. The nurse happened to come over with the test results, handed them to Curtis, and then instructed a few more precautions. Because Wanda's situation was unique, it would not have been life-threatening if there had been no problems for the time being, but it would have been more complicated if there had been an accident.
Then Curtis was going to go back to the ward for more instructions. Despite Lauren's bad attitude, the incident wasn't a minor one, and he didn't want to take it personally.
Curtis was just about to knock on the door when he heard Wanda's voice from inside. "Lauren, thank you. We don't know what we would have done if it wasn't for you." "Alright, you don't need to say those words. Recuperate your body well."
Lauren said indifferently.
Wanda, however, had no intention of stopping and continued, "Lauren, anyway, I'd like to thank you. You're not our biological child, but we're really happy to have you as our daughter."
"Don't mention it again." Lauren became stern and somewhat disgruntled, and Wanda hurriedly shut up and didn't continue.
Curtis, outside the door, heard it clearly and frowned slightly with a hint of indifference in his expression. He then didn't continue knocking on the door to enter but turned around and walked out of the hospital with the test results.
Driving back to the Martin Group, Curtis went into Benjamin's office as soon as he could.
After reporting on the work schedule of the Martin Group, he then brought up what he had just heard at the hospital. He said, "Mr. Martin, Ms. Davis was not born by her parents."
Benjamin looked up at Curtis, his expression revealing a question. "What does that mean?"
Curtis truthfully told Benjamin what he had just heard outside the ward and added, "This is something Ms. Davis seems to have known about for a long time. When Wanda mentioned it, Ms. Davis seemed a little repulsed to let her talk about it and reminded her not to say anything about it anymore."
"Are you sure you heard right?"
Benjamin glanced at Curtis, little emotion in his eyes.
Curtis nodded. "Mr. Martin, I'm pretty sure those words came from Ms. Davis' mother herself."
Benjamin didn't say another word but just narrowed his eyes slightly, some chill in them.
The news that Lauren wasn't Wanda and Sean's biological child certainly had Benjamin in deep thought.
He gestured Curtis out by waving his
hand. He sat alone at his desk and lit a cigarette. The smoke covered his deep blue eyes, and it was impossible to see the emotions in his eyes.
Benjamin didn't ask Lauren about it, though, and acted as if he didn't know anything about it.
But that didn't mean he wouldn't do anything.
Benjamin had Curtis arrange for someone to find out when Lauren's relationship with Wanda and Sean began, including who her birth parents were.
He thought, "Since Lauren is now a public figure, it would be easy for her to search for her birth parents.ds she unable to find them or doesn't really intend to?"
Benjamin's profound eyes grew gloomy, to the point where all that could be seen at the end was a heavy haze.
Benjamin and Harper hadn't contacted each other in two days, ever since that day in the car.
Actually, Benjamin had sent her a message, but Harper just deleted it after reading it.
Annie thought it was kind of funny. "Harper, what happened to you? What did Mr. Martin do to you in the car the other day? Why are you so angry?"
