ASSISTANT
It’s Saturday, and Samarra is deciding what to wear. She intends to attend the meeting. Today, Daddy Calvin will introduce him to the company’s executives and board members as CAO or chief administrative officer. She’d find something to wear so early in the morning. She has a lot of clothes, but she can’t figure out why she didn’t pick one.
Darn!
“Love, Mom invited us to her house for dinner.”
Samarra nodded in response to Zachary’s statement without looking back. Ezekiel told her yesterday that she was aware of the upcoming dinner.
“Are you leaving, Love?” Zachary’s tone conveyed disdain, prompting her to look in his direction. They were struck by the trace of impatience on his handsome face.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
She chuckled. “Yes, I have important obligations.”
Zachary nodded and leaned against their walk-in closet’s door jamb. His gaze appeared to pierce her soul.
“May I come with you?” Zachary asked while folding his arms and awaiting her response.
What? Come with her?
She could not resist sighing. She does not wish to agree but lacks time to refuse.
“OK.”
When Zachary kissed her cheek and walked toward the bathroom, she was stunned. None of her fingers rubbed her cheek, and none of her eyes followed Zachary’s. Her heartbeat increased abruptly.
Samarra! Come on, now. She told herself to stop thinking because she still had a meeting.
She shook her head before donning a three-piece gray suit and four-inch black stiletto heels. Samarra tied up her wavy hair and curled half of it. She put on some make-up.
Her cellphone rang just as she was about to finish. She noticed Jameson calling to her.
“Hello?” she said as she answered the phone.
“Good morning, Lady Summer. I’m outside.”
Even though Jameson couldn’t see her, she nodded. She was already prepared. She was waiting for Zachary to come out of the bathroom.
“OK, James, give me thirty minutes.”
She didn’t wait for an answer; she hung up the phone and went to the bathroom. Zachary spat as she was about to knock. Nothing in herself swallowed her up as she gazed at his body. Zachary was wrapped in a towel. From wet hair to a broad and complex chest. Samarra drew her attention to his V-line abs. She couldn’t look up again.
“Are you done checking me out? Do you like what you see?”
Her eye was the traitor that betrayed her to Zachary. She shook her head and inhaled deeply.
“Please hurry! I’m going to be late for you.” She immediately turned away from Zachary.
“You had ten minutes to get ready and wear clothes formally. I’ll meet you downstairs.”
Samarra didn’t turn around as she turned the doorknob. As she walked out the door, she heard Zachary’s mocking laugh.
Samarra was halfway up the stairs when she remembered her bag and cellphone were still in the room. She didn’t want to go back inside, but she couldn’t help herself.
Why have you left your bag and phone behind? She claimed Zachary would tease her if she returned inside.
She sighed as she decided to make her way up the stairs.
“Here are your bag and phone. I answered your call as well.” Samarra looked up and observed Zachary’s expressionless face.
She raised her eyebrows.
What is his problem? She shook her head before grabbing her bag and phone.
“My number is already saved on your phone,” Zachary continued as he touched her waist. As Zachary escorted her down the stairs, she held her breath. Samarra detected his rapid breathing. This time, she was unable to speak due to her anger.
She sighed as Zachary grabbed her arm and led her away from the gate where Jameson was waiting.
What is your purpose here? She could not see Zachary’s face because he had placed her on his back, but he was angry based on the tone of his voice.
Jameson replied, “I’m here for Samarra,” as if nothing had occurred. So, she could see Jameson’s face, which seemed unconcerned by Zachary’s tone of voice.
“What?” As Zachary prepared to punch Jameson, she quickly acted as a mediator between them.
“Leave.”
Zachary regarded Jameson with a sharp gaze while clenching his hand.
“Oh, gosh! Zachary! Stop that! It is too early. And can you stop acting like a child?” Samarra could not help but be irritated by Zachary’s treatment of his assistant.
What? Childish?
Zachary is off guard. Fuck! What the f*ck? Is he still acting like a child? He wiped his face. Zachary covered his face in irritability. He thought he was going to burst. He could still control himself when he answered Samarra’s phone call earlier. But it hurts more when she’s defending other men in front of him.
“Please, Cadden… don’t be a child. Jameson is both my bodyguard and my assistant.” When he looked up into the sky, the wind blew him away.
“What?”
“Cadden, Jameson is my bodyguard and assistant, and I don’t want any trouble.”
“How long ago?”
“It’s been a long time, so stop. If you want to come in, please do so; I don’t want to be late because of you.” Samarra entered the car.
He was left stunned outside the car. He wasn’t sure whether he should enter the vehicle or remain outside. He had his mouth blown out before being forced to ride alongside Samarra.
“It’s good you thought about coming in,” Samarra said.
He averted his gaze after looking at Samarra intently. He realized he was mistaken. He should not misbehave, especially when others are watching.
He was disgusted that the two had known each other for a long time.
Damn! He wishes to beat Jameson.
Jameson occasionally glances at the two passengers in the back of the road. Both individuals remained silent as they gazed out the window. Despite Samara’s denial, Jameson shook his head and was happy for Samarra. He knew an enormous transformation had occurred in Samarra due to Zachary’s influence. Recognizing that Samarra is aloof and maintains a distance from others, she holds length from them.
Jameson said, “Lady Summer, we have arrived.”
Samarra quickly moved and patted Zachary on the leg. She met Zachary’s gaze as though he were asking what they were doing with the Buenavista Corporation. She lacked time to elaborate on why and what they would do.
“Let’s go.” She then grabbed his hand as they exited the car. Simultaneously, Jameson gave the key to the valet, who was standing opposite the entrance.
