I Love You, Miss Genius

CHAPTER 406

CHAPTER 406

“What a beauty,” Tanum said as he pulled out a chair for Bonnie, “Have a seat. Would you like something to drink? It’s pretty hot outside, huh? Do you want my seat instead? The air conditioner is right above it.”

“Ahem!” Aya cleared her throat and glanced at her son sidelong.

‘Jeez, Tanum wouldn’t help me with anything even if I asked. Look at him now. He’s already showering Bonnie with care. They’re not even married yet. Who’s to say she won’t disrespect me once they get married?‘

“Can I directly address you by your first name?”

Bonnie nodded. “Of course you can.

“Let’s not waste precious time and cut to the chase. You consider yourself lucky since my son likes you this much,” Aya said arrogantly.

Bonnie’s brow twitched a little as she looked at Lauren.

Lauren chuckled awkwardly. “That’s not the right way to put it, Aya.”

“What’s wrong with what I said? We own this cafe, and Tanum will inherit it. Do you know how much we make monthly? We rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars if you remove the

overhead cost.”

Lauren was so envious that she could just cry.

‘Aya earns hundreds of thousands monthly! My family only managed to get that much after working our butts off for decades. We still spend our money very carefully.‘

With that in mind, Lauren took a different approach and held Bonnie’s hands.

“Bonnie, we’re countryfolk who don’t have a surefire way to succeed. You only get an opportunity like this because you’re pretty. Once you marry Tanum, you must love your inlaws like your own and listen to everything Tanum says.”

Bonnie frowned and retorted, “I don’t intend on marrying him, Aunt Lauren.”

Aya was displeased, saying, “Are you worried we won’t give you a handsome wedding gift, or if the wedding won’t be luxurious enough? You don’t have to worry about such things. We’re loaded, after all. We’ll host the grandest wedding ceremony you’ve ever seen.

“We’ll give you what you want, but you can’t afford to be lazy once you marry into my family. You’ll wake up before five every morning and prepare breakfast for everyone. Oh,

that includes lunch and dinner.

“If there’s one thing good about us, we treat our daughters–in–law fairly and justly. That’s why you won’t need a job. All you have to do is be a housewife. Don’t forget to clean the garden and porch.

“We also have a vegetable patch in the backyard but never had time to plant anything. Since you’re a country girl, you’ll come in handy.”

Bonnie chuckled. “May I know how much you plan to pay me monthly?”

“What? Pay?” Aya grew exasperated. “Like I said, you won’t need a job. You’ll be eating our food, too. Are you seriously asking for wages?”

Bonnie retorted, “You intend on pushing me around and asking me to be a chef, servant, and gardener. Don’t forget that you even want me to manage your vegetable patch. So, I’ll be doing all that for free meals?

“Were you serious about not paying me? If that’s true, Your Highness, I don’t think anyone would want to marry your son.”

“How dare you speak to me that way? Also, what did you mean by that last part? I expect those things from you if you’re going to be my daughter–in–law! You’re obligated to do those things!” Aya was furious.

‘I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as her! She has a chance to marry into a wealthy family like mine, yet she dared to ask me to pay her for doing the chores!‘

Bonnie’s eyes were full of mockery as she said, “Honestly, I’m getting paid quite handsomely already. You can even say financial freedom is within my grasp. So, I don’t have to be your servant. Perhaps you should find someone else.”

As she got up to leave, Tanum hastily stopped her and said, “Come on, Bonnie! Don’t leave! Mom, what the hell are you doing? You don’t have to make her do so many things. You’re scaring her off.”

Aya was enraged when her son defended Bonnie. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
