Chapter 899: Not Only Enemies with Us, but Also with You
Listening to Felix's words, Mitch nodded and said, "Thanks for today."
Felix nodded in response but remained silent for a few seconds, looking at Mitch as if he had
something to say but hesitated.
"What do you want to say?" Mitch, seeing Felix struggling to speak up, took the initiative to ask.
Felix rubbed his hands together and stammered, "Um... I... What do you think of me?"
"Not much!" Allan's voice came from the entrance before Mitch could respond.
Mitch turned his head towards the voice, thinking that Allan's speed was incredibly fast, as if he had
taken a rocket here.
"Allan?" Felix was still somewhat surprised to see Allan. "What are you doing here?"
Allan took a few steps forward, squinting at Felix. "I haven't asked you yet. What are you doing here?"
Felix replied, "Why can't I be here? And what about you? Weren't you caught? How come you're back?
Did you escape from prison?"
When Felix mentioned the latter part, his expression was full of shock.
Allan cursed under his breath, "I didn't escape, you motherfucker!"
"Why are you swearing?" Felix stared at Allan with wide eyes.
Allan leaned closer to Felix, lowering his voice. "Did you really think back then that I didn't see you?"
Felix's expression instantly changed upon hearing Allan's words. He looked at Allan in astonishment
and stammered, "You... you..."
"What about me? Get the hell out of here before I kill you and bury you with Aunt Marnon!" Allan
pointed at Felix.
Mitch furrowed his brows as he watched Allan's actions. "Do you have a grudge against each other?"
Allan turned to Mitch and said, "It's not just me who has a grudge against him, you all have a grudge
against him!"
Felix's face turned slightly embarrassed. He was afraid that Allan would bring up the past in front of
Mitch, so he hurriedly said, "I just remembered that my mom asked me to do something. I have to go
back."
After saying that, Felix practically fled without even saying goodbye to Mitch, turning around and
rushing out of the Miller family's gate.
Just as Lachlan Russell parked his car and entered through the gate, he exclaimed, "Allan, isn't that
the thug who blocked Reed on the small road back then?"
Allan didn't even have a chance to stop him as Lachlan blurted out the whole story.
Upon hearing Lachlan's words, Mitch immediately turned to Allan. "Was Felix one of the people who
blocked Reed on the small road back then?"
Allan raised his hand to touch his nose. "I wouldn't mistake him."
Without further ado, Allan jumped down from a high step and quickly chased after Felix.
"Allan shouted at Lachlan, "Stop him!"
After speaking, Allan followed suit and jumped down.
Lachlan reacted quickly and stopped Mitch from rushing out. "What are you doing?"
Mitch tried to break free from Lachlan's hold with force but was held back by Allan, who caught up from
behind. "Stay calm!"
"How can I stay calm?" Mitch looked at Allan. "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?"
Lachlan continued, "We had dealt with those people back then, but Lachlan was scared after that
incident and claimed to have some strange illness, making it impossible for us to find him."
Allan held Mitch back and said, "If you really want to beat him up, wait until your mom's affairs are
settled. It's not appropriate to do it now. You know there are too many unwritten rules here. Don't let it
interfere with the main matter."
After listening to Allan, Mitch calmed down slightly. "Do you all know about this?"
Lachlan said, "Only I know. Allan hasn't told anyone else."
Mitch glanced at Allan, wanting to say something, when Reed heard the commotion and came out from
inside. When she saw Allan and the others, she was slightly taken aback. "Brother, what's going on?"
Mitch looked at Reed and said, "Nothing."
After responding, Mitch looked at Allan and said, "You guys go inside. I'll go set up the mourning hall."
Lachlan had sharp eyes and said, "I'll go with you."
It was too late last night, and Mitch hadn't had time to prepare anything.
So there was still no mourning tent set up temporarily.
Everything was ready now, and even if they stayed at home for one night, they had to set up the tent.
Tomorrow, people from the village would come to mourn Marnon.
Allan glanced towards Reed and said, "I'll be right there."
Mitch didn't pay attention to Allan and turned to walk in another direction.
Just as they started setting up the tent, the rain stopped.
With the help of Lachlan and Allan, the tent was quickly set up.
Mitch, along with Reed, Taylor Payne, Natasha, and Mia, performed the ritual and then knelt in front of
the mourning hall.
Allan and Lachlan, being outsiders, knelt at the far end.
They had expected heavy rain in the evening, but instead, the moon appeared.
Allan, Mitch, and Taylor Payne took turns keeping watch that night.
The next day, the sun was shining brightly, and many people from the village came to mourn.
Busy throughout the day, when it was evening, Yanis and Zane finally arrived to pay their respects to
Marnon.
After all, the burial was scheduled for the next day.
After paying their respects, Yanis looked at Mitch and asked, "Is the burial tomorrow morning?"
Mitch nodded. "Tomorrow, you and Mr. Lawrence don't need to come. Wait until we're done with
everything, and if you still want to come later, you can."
Yanis responded, "Okay."
The next morning, Yanis was awakened by the sounds of crying, shouting, and firecrackers outside.
Yanis got out of bed, put on a coat, and looked at the many people kneeling in the yard. There were
elderly people and even small children. They were all bidding their farewells according to their seniority. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
After each person finished paying their respects, they all stood up.
"Why didn't you dress properly?" Zane approached and handed Yanis another coat.
Yanis turned to look at Zane and said, "Zane, let's go over there later and take a look."
Zane nodded. "Okay."
At half-past seven, they started sealing the coffin, and Reed's crying became hysterical.
Yanis had never seen a burial before when Mia's father was buried.
Now, seeing Reed and the others crying their hearts out, Yanis couldn't help but tear up as well.
After the ceremony, the coffin was lifted and carried towards the cemetery.
In no time, only Yanis and Zane were left in the house.
Although Allan and Lachlan were outsiders, they were considered part of the mountain community, so
they also went to the cemetery to bid farewell.
By noon, Yanis and Zane went to the cemetery together to pay their respects.
After handling everything, it was already getting dark.
During dinner, Mitch and even Allan were nowhere to be found.
Their phones were called, but nobody answered.
Reed was absentminded and kept looking towards the door.
Yanis leaned against Zane and asked softly, "Do you know where Mitch and Allan went?"
