I Am Unstoppable

Chapter 260

Chapter 260

Briana was startled upon hearing that. What kind of weirdo is he? Did he just call us heartless? What an unscrupulous man!

Briana was already feeling frustrated.

All the while, Victor smiled in resignation after hearing that. Why did Divine Realm send such a clown over?

However, Victor was still feeling hopeful. Both the men dispatched by Divine Realm before that were too rigid and stern, so their attempts had failed. Jonathan seemed rather quirky, so he figured that there might be an unexpected outcome.

Thus, he said, “Pass the phone to Briana.”

“Oh, okay!” Jonathan handed the phone over to Briana after that.

“Dad, don't tell me I am actually in an arranged marriage with him,” Briana blurted out.

Victor ignored her and said, “Bring him upstairs.”

Although Briana had a bad premonition, she couldn't say anything to her father at that point, so she complied with him. “Okay.”

She glowered at Jonathan after hanging up.

Jonathan chuckled and quipped, “What is it, Briana? Do you see me in a new light now?”

Unlike Jessica, Briana wouldn't bicker with him flirtatiously. She merely glanced at him impassively before entering the building.

Jonathan followed behind her.

Just as the two security guards tried to stop him, he glared at them before declaring, “How dare you stop me? Don't you know I'm the future heir of Victory Enterprise?”

Both of the security guards were dumbfounded.

At the same time, Briana roared at Jonathan, “You are a madman!” With that, she covered her ears and ran inside.

Jonathan ran after her.

Seeing that Briana didn't order them to stop Jonathan, the two security guards let him pass.

Jonathan followed behind Briana, entering the elevator.

“Briana...” The moment Jonathan tried to strike up a conversation, Briana covered her ears.

He heaved a sigh. “Geez, young people nowadays are really impetuous.”

His sarcastic remark left Briana feeling conflicted.

Victor's office was located on the twenty-eighth floor.

Prominent people like him somehow had a preference to set up their offices on the highest floor of buildings.

Upon arriving at the twenty-eighth floor, Briana led Jonathan to Victor's office.

She entered the office upon opening the door, and Jonathan followed suit.

The office was magnificent, its interior decor giving off a quaint and elegant vibe.

There was a desk made of red sandalwood, and a couch made of real leather, among other furniture.

Although Victor was close to his sixties, he was still full of energy. He looked regal and refined in his black suit. One could tell that he was someone very successful.

Moreover, he was fit and had thick hair.

He wore golden-rimmed glasses, and he also wore a wristwatch.

When they arrived, he was going through the quarterly finance reports at his desk.

The instant Briana barged in and got beside him, she demanded, “Dad, this is the madman I'm talking about! Chase him away!” Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Jonathan couldn't help but feel annoyed. D*mn it. Isn't she a little too uncultured? She kept on calling

me a madman or a lunatic.

Despite his bizarre actions, Jonathan was actually incredibly perceptive.

He already had an idea as to the cause of Victor's predicament.

Victor had his daughter in his forties, so he doted on her.

Thus, Briana ended up becoming quite spoiled.

Victor smiled in resignation before chiding her, “Speak more kindly, Briana.” He then looked at Jonathan with joy. “You're here, young man. Please have a seat.” He stood as he spoke.

Jonathan chirped merrily, “Mr. Yarbrough, your office looks so grand. My dad used to brag to me about the time he spent flirting with girls in Yaleview with you.”

Victor was startled, and there was an awkward expression on his face. Unable to counter that, he laughed. “Have a seat!”

As they conversed, Victor and Briana sat down on the couch regarded as the main seat, whereas Jonathan sat on the guest's seat.

Victor had his secretary serve them some refreshments right away.

After that, he asked Jonathan, “How has your father been?” He cringed at his own words, for he didn't even know Jonathan's name.

Right away, Jonathan put on a melancholic expression as he lamented, “My father has passed away, Mr. Yarbrough.” He then tried to shed a few tears. Yet, he didn't have any, so he gave up on it eventually. He proceeded to bemoan, “My dad told me before he died that I must come to you. He described you as a just, honest, and true man. So, you will allow me to marry Briana, right?”

Initially, Briana was infuriated, but she felt like laughing when she heard Jonathan's words.

This guy is really something else.

Upon hearing, Victor felt slightly embarrassed.

“I will never marry someone like him.” Briana shot up from her seat and rejected the idea firmly. She then snarked at Jonathan, “The likes of you shouldn't even think about marrying me. You should go take a look at yourself in a mirror–”

“Been there, done that, and I think I look amazing!”

“You–” Briana almost vomited blood.

Victor smiled bitterly before smoothing things over. “Young man, both Briana and I need time to think about this, especially when you brought up the matter so abruptly.”

Jonathan replied, “Oh, I'm not in a hurry. Besides, I'm homeless and unemployed. Mr. Yarbrough, my dad said I should regard you as my own father and familiarize myself with you! Since you have such a large company and are so wealthy, you should hire me as a manager. I could use some fun.”

“You bloody leech!” cried Briana, no longer able to stand Jonathan and his shenanigans.

“I have teeth though!” Jonathan opened his mouth in all seriousness to reveal his two rows of healthy and normal-looking teeth.

“Dad, don't waste time on scum like him! Get the security guards to chase him out!” Briana demanded.

Victor cleared his throat, figuring that it was time he showed his dignified side in front of an outsider. Thus, he said, “Briana, no matter what, this young man is the son of an acquaintance of mine. How could you be so impolite to him? What might others think if they see you like this?”

“It'll reflect badly on your parents!” Jonathan added, always keen to add salt to injury.

“Shut up!” chided Briana at Jonathan.

Jonathan let out a chuckle.

Victor saw no point in continuing the conversation, so he ordered in a rather stern tone, “Briana, give us some space.”

Briana refused to comply. “I'm not leaving. You–”

“Leave now!” Victor sounded rather cold.

He rarely lost his temper with Briana like that.

It was also the first time Briana ever saw his stern side, so she was so shocked that her face was as pale as a sheet.

“Okay, okay, I'll leave,” she muttered and she really left.

After her departure, Victor smiled ruefully at Jonathan. “I've spoiled the kid. Please pay her no heed.”

Jonathan had also reverted to a brooding mood as he turned to face Victor. “I can understand that.” After a pause, he continued, “Of course, you're going to dote on your only daughter when you have amassed such wealth. However, you cannot protect her forever, and her personality poses a huge problem. The wealthier she is, the more dangerous a position she is in. After all, it never was about the person, but what was in their possession.”

Victor studied him in surprise, thinking that Jonathan seemed to have become an entirely different person.

“May I have your name, young man?” he inquired.

Jonathan supplied, “My name is Jonathan Lawson.”

“Ah, so you're Jon.”

He sounded courteous and was without arrogance.

After all, Jonathan was one of the inner disciples of Divine Realm, and no one was to give them an attitude of any sort.

“Let's talk!” Jonathan said.

Victor probed, “Jon, do you have any ways to go about this task that you're about to take on?”

Jonathan explained, “I've never met Sean, so I can only come up with a concrete plan once I've met him.” Then, he requested, “By the way, you have to insist that I am Briana's fiancé no matter how she retaliates. Don't you worry for I will reassure her safety. While Sean seemed to be the source of your troubles, you're actually the one causing them in the first place. I won't be able to do anything for you if you lack the resolve to maintain a firm stance on the matter.”

Victor hesitated for a moment before agreeing to it. “Sure, no problem!”

Jonathan consoled, “Things aren't as bad as it seems. At least the two of them have yet to make any substantial moves.”

Victor was startled, already catching on to what Jonathan was implying. That was something he had been worrying about, so Jonathan's reassurance offered him much solace. He inquired, “Are you sure?”

Jonathan chuckled. “Briana is still a virgin.” He paused for a bit before going on. “Okay, from now on, you will no longer arrange for Briana to be protected by bodyguards. I shall assume that position.”

Delighted, Victor gave his consent. “I have nothing to worry about with you acting as her bodyguard.”

Then, he summoned Briana back in.

In her presence, he announced formally, “Briana, I have to tell you something that I've been meaning to but unable to tell you. Jonathan's father, who is also an acquaintance of mine, has passed away, and his final wish is for Jonathan to marry you. While I can dote on you and spoil you when it comes to

other matters, you're still my daughter, and you have to obey me regarding this matter.”

When Briana noticed that her father wasn't joking around, she teared up and flew into a fit of rage. “That's a promise between you! What does it have to do with me? Why must I be sacrificed for this? Dad, have you ever put yourself in my shoes?”

Victor couldn't bear to see her cry, but he steeled himself. “This is already set in stone.”

“I will never agree to marry this guy. Over my dead body!” Briana yelled and ran away in tears.

“Briana!” Victor called out to her.

However, she ignored him and fled the place.

Jonathan reassured Victor, “Don't worry. I'll watch over her, Mr. Yarbrough.”

With that, he went after her.
