I Am Unstoppable

Chapter 252

Chapter 252

Jonathan stopped his Cadillac in front of the police station in Lingston District.

He did not want to go in, so he rang Amber up to ask her to come out.

“Wait a minute!” Amber said after picking up the call.

Soon, she walked out of the station.

With her attractive facial features, she looked even more stunning in her dashing police uniform.

Jonathan's heart thumped faster at the sight of her charming appearance.

Amber paid no mind to her attire as she sat directly in the passenger seat.

The moment she got in, a wave of pleasant smell wafted to his nose.

Smiling, Jonathan asked, “After leaving Horington, you still chose to serve the people in Yaleview?”

“It's not easy for the junior police. Now that I'm here, I can speak up for them whenever necessary. I'm also trying to make myself useful while I'm still able to.”

“Not bad, not bad indeed,” he commented.

Sparing him a side glance, Amber uttered, “What's with the elderly vibes, though? It's as if you're my superior.”

Jonathan laughed out loud and started the car. “Let me treat you to a meal. Go ahead and choose whatever you want. Don't mind the price.”

“Anything would do.” She did not have much interest in food.

With that, he did not ask anything more and straightaway drove her to Irellura Café.

The desserts and coffees in the café were up to standard, especially the Irellura Coffee. It was extremely authentic.

Jonathan and Amber chose a seat next to the window.

Melodious music was played in the background, and rays of the bright sunny sun streamed through, brightening the shop.

Amber took a sip of her coffee. Though she was quiet that day, she seemed to be in a good mood.

Jonathan chose to gift her the magical, colorful lamp first. “This is for you.”

A hint of delight fleeted across her eyes as she took it over. Judging from the packaging, she could roughly guess what it was.

Jonathan had neglected the packaging. It was not prepared exquisitely.

Then, a trace of disappointment flashed across Amber's eyes. I don't even know what I was expecting.

“Thanks. I like it a lot,” she said in the end, chuckling.

“That's great to hear.” Jonathan laughed.

“How's the trip this time?” she asked.

“Not bad,” he replied, not intending to talk about the dangerous moments in the past.

Just like that, the duo spent their time chatting as though they were old friends of one another.

When it was two o'clock in the afternoon, Amber said, “I need to get back to work.”

Truth be told, she was not expecting to get anything from Jonathan. To catch up once in a while with him was good enough.

I'll just be his friend! Nothing more. That was what she had in mind.

“Sure, I'll send you over,” Jonathan offered, to which she replied with a joyful hum.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the police station in his Cadillac.

“How long will you be staying here?” Amber asked before she got out of the car.

Jonathan was slightly taken aback by her question but soon answered, “I'll leave after a few days.”

“Okay,” was what she said. There was not much of a reaction from her. A few seconds later, she uttered, “Goodbye, then.”

“Hold on.” Jonathan stopped her just as she moved to get out of the car.

Amber turned her head and shot him a quizzical look.

There was a slight hesitation on his face as he took out something from his left. “I prepared another gift for you, but I was afraid it'd be too presumptuous of me. If you don't like it or feel that it doesn't suit you, just throw it away.” He handed over the box as soon as he finished speaking.

Amber was slightly stunned. Her eyes roamed over the packaging of the box in his hands, and she reckoned that the content within was along the lines of a necklace.

Her cheeks turned pink in an instant.

For a man to gift a woman necklace, it usually had a special meaning.

If they were mere acquaintances, such an act was not needed.

That was also the reason that Jonathan hesitated earlier.

At that instant, a wave of indescribable joy washed over Amber. After taking the box, she turned around and hurriedly walked away.

Jonathan let out a sigh of relief.

At that moment, he felt at ease.

All the while, his relationship with Amber had been ambiguous. It was holding her up, too, for he had never clearly expressed his feelings to her.

As of then, he had taken a step further in their relationship.

He felt that he liked Amber. At the same time, he could not accept seeing her falling in love with another man or getting married to someone else.

Soon, Jonathan turned his car around and left.

Amber's face was crimson. My face must be burning up now.

When she entered the police station, she could not hear any of the greetings from the junior police officers. It was because she was in a hurry to return to her office.

As soon as she shut the door, her heart thumped at a rapid pace.

Then, she tore open the packaging.

At that moment, her breaths turned even heavier.

An exquisite ruby necklace was sitting in the box.

It was not cheap. The price was at least more than six hundred thousand.

Jonathan had bought two, costing him one million and five hundred thousand in total.

He gave the blue one to Catherine and the red one to Amber.

Their prices were about the same—seven hundred and fifty thousand each.

Amber knew the implication of receiving such an expensive gift from Jonathan. It meant that she had a place in his heart, and he was not running away from his feelings.

She was also aware that accepting the necklace would be equivalent to giving him a sign that she was willing to be with him.

Her feelings were so conflicted. On the one hand, she did not want to be a despicable paramour. On the other hand, she could not stop herself from loving him.

After mulling it over, she finally decided to give Jonathan a call.

The call went through quickly.

Jonathan was not saying anything, and Amber did not know what to say either.

A long moment had passed by the time she asked, “What do you mean by this?”

“You should understand what I'm trying to convey,” he replied solemnly. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“You want me to be your lover?”

“No.”

“Then?”

Jonathan uttered, “There are a lot of things that I don't know how to say, but I know I have to talk about them today. I don't lead an ordinary life. After parting ways with you for over a month, I almost lost my life twice. I have no idea what the future holds for me.”

Amber fell silent.

“I don't want to suppress my feelings. I'm afraid I won't have the chance to express them if I die. You know me well. I'm not making any excuses about this,” he continued.

Of course, she knew what kind of person Jonathan was. Otherwise, she would not have loved him that much.

However, she was afraid of what society would think of her.

Jonathan voiced, “To be honest, you lead a life that's worlds apart from mine. I practice Destino Art and chase after longevity that ordinary people dare not dream of. My path is different from theirs. You aren't able to understand me on this, unlike Catherine.”

“I can!” Amber said suddenly. “You refused Jennifer back then because she couldn't see the world through your eyes. You married Catherine because she's someone like you. She doesn't shackle you. Having a happy life with a family of three is not what she wishes for. I can understand all of these.”

“It's good that you do,” Jonathan said.

“But I'd still be the one receiving the criticism from society,” she replied.

“I won't ask you to do anything. Just do whatever it is that makes you happy. I'm also just following my heart in doing things. I admit that I'm selfish.”

Amber did not know what to say. “We'll talk about it in the future, then. Thanks for your necklace. I like it a lot.”

With that, she ended the call.

As Jonathan put his phone away, a wistful smile touched his lips.

Perhaps the best solution for his predicament was to stop messing with women.

Otherwise, the other party would still be troubled even though he could remain calm about it.

After Jonathan returned to the Harrington mansion, he was back to living his peaceful days.

He spent his time on cultivation and logging into Divine Realm's website to check if any missions were available.

Following a period of observation, he set his mind on a few.

He planned to meet up with Simon first before carrying out the missions.

At first, he thought of giving Simon a great gift, but it seemed like he was not going to make it.

The whole time, Jonathan felt that he owed Simon and his sworn siblings a lot.

Seven days later, Simon phoned Jonathan and told him to head to Lostaria directly, instructing him to bring Catherine along to complete the mission.

Since everyone was preparing to be Richard's disciples, it did not matter who would be completing the mission.

However, Simon had said before that they wanted to help Catherine, and he had no reason to go back on his word then.

On the same day, Jonathan and Catherine boarded the plane to Lostaria.

Before leaving, Jonathan rang Amber up, but she did not pick up his call.

That discovery placed a bitter smile on his face. He knew he had given her a hard time.

A person's mind is the most complicated, after all.

Initially, Amber hoped that Jonathan would do something to express his affection toward her. When he did not, she was down in the dumps. Yet, when he did, a great sense of hesitation flooded her soul instead.

The truth was Jonathan did not think too much about it. He was not born a sentimental man.

Ten hours later, Jonathan and Catherine came out of Lostaria International Airport.

It was three o'clock in the afternoon in Lostaria. The sun was bright, and the air was laced with the presence of the sea.

He was wearing a black leather jacket, while she was sporting a white coat.

They looked wonderfully stunning as they walked together.

There were quite a lot of the Anglandurns who could not help but take pictures of them.

It was mainly because Catherine was too pretty.

Elijah waited outside the airport to pick them up.

As soon as he got out of his car, he waved his hand at Jonathan and Catherine. When the duo approached him, he smiled and remarked, “Jonathan, Catherine, you two can go and shoot a movie. You'll outshine those male and female leads for sure.”

Chuckling, Jonathan draped his arm around his shoulders and asked, “Are you doing well these days?”

Elijah said sullenly, “Not really. Simon brings us to the snow mountain every day. We've been living our days like uncultured savages. Look, even my face has gotten thinner.”

“No worries. I'll treat you to a feast,” Jonathan said.

“That sounds perfect.” Elijah chuckled.

Afterward, Jonathan and Catherine got into the car. He sat in the passenger seat while she went to the

back seat.

In such circumstances, he could not possibly sit with her in the back as it would seem like they treated Elijah as their driver.

Even though Elijah was his sworn brother, Jonathan still had to be careful when dealing with certain things.
