Chapter 1090 Dislike (5)
Rose looked at Elliot’s smirk of triumph and felt her anger rising. She clenched her teeth, frustrated but forced herself to compromise. Her brother had just been released from prison, and she didn’t want him to end up back there again. So she had to attend this dinner party.
As Rose looked at the man in front of her again, there was no guilt in her eyes, only a cold determination to divorce this scumbag.
With narrowed eyes, she spoke with a clear voice, “Fine, I’ll go.”
Elliot was satisfied with the answer and turned away while raising an eyebrow. “I’ll be waiting for you in the living room thirty minutes from now,” he said as he walked off to change his clothes.
Rose pursed her lips and left the room directly.
Ten minutes later, Elliot emerged from his bedroom fully dressed and sat on the sofa in the living room. Half an hour later, a beautiful figure appeared at the top of stairs.
The woman’s figure was slender; hair tied behind her back; wearing a black dress that highlighted her noble elegance. Her face was cold as if she were looking down on everyone like a queen without any emotions visible in those dark eyes of hers.
When Elliot saw Rose’s appearance, his gaze deepened with affection.
The next moment, he gracefully rose from the couch and strolled towards the woman. Eventually, the two met in front of the staircase. A slight smile played on the man’s lips, and there was a hint of pleasure in his expression.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
He gently wrapped his arms around the woman before him, his voice deep as he spoke, “Mrs. Harper, welcome back.”
Half an hour later, the couple arrived at the venue of the dinner.
As soon as they stepped out of the car, journalists waiting outside the hotel swarmed around them, snapping photos and firing off questions.
“Mr. Harper, Mrs. Harper, is this a reconciliation for the two of you?”
“Mr. Harper, by bringing Mrs. Harper to this event, are you formalizing your relationship?”
“Mrs. Harper, you’ve been gone for so long; do you still love Mr. Harper?”
Before the reporters could continue their questioning, Elliot shot a cold, sidelong glance at them. “My wife and I have always had a deep relationship,” he stated with an icy demeanor. “If you continue to be disrespectful, I won’t hesitate to ensure you lose your job.”
The reporter trembled in fear upon hearing Elliot’s threatening words and immediately dared not say anything else.
Rose looked at the man beside her, who was pretending, and couldn’t help but find it ridiculous.
In the past, he never behaved like this. Why does he have to act like this now?
Elliot reached out and grabbed the woman’s slender waist, and the two of them looked like a loving couple.
Only he knew that Rose was struggling when he held onto her waist.
His eyes slightly narrowed, and when his gaze swept over the woman’s indifferent face, the color of his pupils deepened unconsciously.
This is the first time Rose has attended a public event with him after being missing for five years. He must declare that she belonged to him to everyone.
Elliot thought for a moment and then leaned down to whisper softly in Rose’s ear, “You should smile. You know what the consequences will be if you don’t.”
Rose was suddenly threatened once again, and her eyebrows furrowed slightly. Her hand, resting at her side, instinctively tightened.
For the sake of her brother, she endures.
A professional smile appeared on her lips, but it was never quite genuine.
Elliot held Rose’s waist and whispered a compliment, “You’re being good.”
The two of them were very close, and the reporters around immediately picked up their cameras and took pictures, sparking a wave of discussion.
