Alea tried to calm her throbbing headache as she slowly opened her eyes. “Where am I?” she mumbled as she found herself in an unfamiliar room, mostly decorated in shades of brown. Her attention was immediately drawn to the man sleeping on the other side of the bed. “Darian?” she whispered, gazing at the lion head tattoo on his shoulder. But a sudden uneasiness washed over her when she noticed that the man’s hair was jet black, unlike Darian’s dark brown hair. Even his skin tone appeared slightly lighter.
Suppressing the pain that surged through her body, Alea attempted to sit up. However, her surprise grew when she realized that the blanket slipped, leaving her completely exposed.
“No, this can’t be!” she said with tears welling up, quickly covering herself with the blanket.
The man stirred and turned to face her, his voice hoarse from sleep. “Awake already?”
“You, you scoundrel! What did you do to me?” Alea shouted, her tears streaming down as she held onto the blanket to shield herself.
“Hey, you’re the one who forced me! Well, I couldn’t resist your tempting body!” David smirked as he picked up his clothes from the floor and put them on casually.
“You scum! You stole my most precious possession, the one thing I’ve protected for 23 years!” Alea cried, her heartache filling the room. David fell silent, looking at Alea without expression. He didn’t intend for things to turn out like this. His initial attraction to Alea during their first encounter, when he accompanied Darian to meet her, had left him curious to conquer her.
David had been drawn to Alea’s beauty and sensuality, assuming she was just like any other girl he had encountered before. But he was genuinely surprised when he realized that Alea was still a virgin. Although David was known for one-night stands, he had never encountered a virgin before. His curiosity got the best of him, leading him to commit this heinous act. David was used to mutual consent, not forcing anyone.
David sighed deeply, approaching the bed. “I’m sorry, I really lost control last night. It was a terrible mistake,” he said truthfully, feeling guilty for his actions.
“I will take responsibility if you get pregnant!” David said firmly as he tried to touch Alea’s hand, but she immediately blocked his attempt.
“Don’t touch me! I feel disgusted!” Alea cried, her tears flowing even more. Her feelings were shattered. The purity she had preserved for her future husband was now tainted.
“You should take a shower first!” David took a towel from the wardrobe and placed it on the edge of the bed, looking at Alea with an inscrutable expression.
“Oh God!” David groaned, running his fingers through his hair in frustration when he realized he was late for work. The round clock on the wall stopped at 8, and he received a series of unanswered calls from his boss on his phone. Moreover, Fahira was also absent from work as she was still being treated in the hospital. Still in frustration, David glanced at his bedroom door, torn between going to the office or calming the girl inside.
“Shit!” he cursed again when his mind suddenly went blank. His IQ, usually above average, seemed empty.
David appeared to be contemplating something as he paced back and forth in front of the room, trying to find a way out as quickly as possible. Suddenly, the bedroom door swung open wide, revealing Alea standing there, glaring at him with hatred. Her wet hair fell loosely, and her face was pale with swollen eyes.
“I’ll take you home!” David approached Alea, but she immediately prevented him. There was no way he would let Alea go home alone in this condition. Everyone else who saw them would automatically realize that she had been a victim of assault.
“You idiot, David! You’re supposed to be a law enforcer, yet instead of protecting, you took advantage of a drunk girl. Idiot!” David cursed himself inwardly.
“Forget everything that happened. No matter what, I’ll still marry Darian. And in my eyes, you’re just trash, so don’t touch me again!” Alea lashed out.
Without saying much, David pulled Alea’s hand and locked her inside the room with him. “Wait for me to shower. I’ll take you home,” David said firmly before entering the bathroom to clean up quickly.
David prepared himself swiftly, occasionally glancing at Alea, who stood still by the window with a vacant stare.
After dropping Alea off at her apartment, David quickly drove to the office.
Upon arriving at the office, David immediately faced the wrath of his boss. Darian was furious, and Mira and others also felt the impact. Suddenly, Darian noticed something strange about his personal assistant. Instead of being afraid or remorseful for his actions, David seemed lost in thought, deep in contemplation.
Brak… Darian roughly threw a stack of papers onto the table and stared sharply at David. He already knew David’s habits. Surely last night, he was drunk and slept with some random woman as usual. “David, do whatever you want with anyone, I don’t care, but please don’t let it affect your performance in this company. You know Fahira is sick, and I won’t let you in until she fully recovers,” Darian explained informally.
His mind was also in turmoil because he was worried about Fahira’s condition. He felt helpless. Darian didn’t want to hurt Fahira even more with excessive attention, so he always tried to act naturally behind his vulnerability. He didn’t want to give false hope, even though he secretly hoped for a miracle that could change his mother’s mind and grant her blessing.
Darian sighed heavily and approached David. “You didn’t cause any trouble with Alea, did you?” Darian probed, instantly making David’s face pale. He suddenly felt guilty, avoiding eye contact with Darian.
“Why would I cause trouble with that girl?” David replied, pretending to be nonchalant. Darian seemed to look at David suspiciously, but he quickly dismissed his negative assumptions about his good friend.
“Remember, David. I did ask you to ruin my marriage with Alea, but do it in a respectful manner. Don’t embarrass my family!” Darian warned with a tone of intimidation.
David dared to meet Darian’s sharp gaze and replied, “You know me well, right?” David grinned, trying to reassure Darian. There was no way he would admit that he had slept with his best friend’s future wife.
“Alright. I always trust you!” Darian warned, still with a threatening tone. Darian knew there was something David was hiding from him. His best friend couldn’t possibly lie to him for too long. It was only a matter of time before everything would be revealed.

In the hospital, Fahira looked restless and anxious. Every time there was a knock on her room door, she would be enthusiastic, but disappointment filled her as soon as she saw who it was.
During her two-day stay in the hospital, Fahira’s condition improved. She could now get up and go to the bathroom on her own. For those two days, Gavin was always by her side whenever he had free time. Like this morning, Fahira was alone with Gavin as Ariel had to go to school for the first day of the final semester exams. While Fahira was in the hospital, Ariel brought changes of clothes, school uniforms, and textbooks. Of course, Ariel would never leave her alone at the hospital as long as Gavin was there.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“Sorry, Gavin, I must have been bothering you. I’m better now, so you can leave if it’s inconvenient. I can manage on my own!” Fahira said with a hint of embarrassment. Gavin, who was sitting in a chair beside her bed, stopped peeling an apple.
“Why would you say that, Fahira? I never felt bothered by you. In fact, I’m happy to always be by your side!” Gavin replied, placing the plate of sliced apples and the knife on the table.
“Listen, Fahira! Whenever you need someone to talk to, I’m always here. If you feel uncomfortable about my feelings, just think of me as a friend,” Gavin explained, looking deeply into Fahira’s beautiful eyes. He reached for Fahira’s hand and held it tightly.
“Isn’t it true that friends are always there when another friend needs them? My shoulder is always here for you to lean on! Anytime!” Gavin continued, flashing a smile. He picked up a small piece of apple and brought it to Fahira’s lips, but she refused.
Gavin chuckled when Fahira shook her head, her lips tightly closed as she resisted his attempt to feed her the apple. “If you don’t want to eat, I’m actually glad because it means you’ll stay in the hospital, and I can see you every day!” Gavin teased, making Fahira’s eyes widen. She quickly took the plate from Gavin’s hand and started eating the apple, leaving half of it behind.
“You’re so funny!” Gavin ruffled Fahira’s hair playfully.
“Ew, Gavin, it’s all messy now! And I haven’t showered for two days! Your hands are dirty and smelly!” Fahira protested while fixing her hair.
“I wouldn’t mind even if you hadn’t showered for a week! Especially if I was the one asked to help you shower!” Gavin teased, causing Fahira’s face to blush.
“Thank goodness it’s you!” Fahira replied playfully and then playfully hit Gavin with the pillow she was holding.
Their laughter filled the room, but their playfulness was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Good morning, Miss Fahira!” Dr. Rahmat greeted, accompanied by a nurse holding a large book in her hands.
“Good morning, doctor!” Fahira and Gavin replied simultaneously.
“Oh, is this Dr. Gavin’s girlfriend?” Dr. Rahmat teased while checking on Fahira’s condition.
“She’s not my girlfriend, Doctor, she’s my fiancée!” Gavin quickly retorted when he saw Fahira was about to say something.
“That’s good, because if not, I was planning to match Miss Fahira with my son!” The senior doctor, in his fifties, continued to tease Gavin. Gavin, nonchalantly, even admitted that Fahira rejected him, much to Fahira’s disbelief. How could a handsome, famous, specialist doctor like Gavin proudly admit that he was rejected?
Finally, Fahira chose to be a listener and occasionally joined in their laughter as they exchanged jokes. And Fahira realized that Gavin was actually a fun and humorous person.
