Chapter 108
Chapter 108
I paced back and forth my room with my phone in my hands and looked at the time.
Would it really be okay to call him? Was he even waiting for my call? Of course, he was. He was the one who cheated.
I took a deep breath and searched for his number. It was too late, so I expected him to sleep, but he picked up. just like Carmen told me. He shouldn’t be up that late. Christian needed his rest.
Why was he up so late, and why did I care?
“Serena? Is there something with Siena?” He asked in a hurry. I could hear he was wide awake and figured he had probably not closed a single eye.
“No, Siena is fine,” I spoke. His voice used to cheer me up and had slowly become like medicine to me, but all I could think of this time was the fact that he was a cheater. “How about you? Are you okay, Serena?”
I took a deep breath and asked myself the same question. I was a mess, and I probably looked like one too. “I’m fine.” I lied not to worry him. I was supposed to be mad at him, but even until now, I was still thinking about his feelings. What was wrong with me?
“Oh,” Christian replied. It went silent for a few seconds, and I didn’t know what to say. I had hoped for him. to say something, but he didn’t. I was clear with my words and told him I needed my space-and he probably worked along for Siena.
“Christian, I need to talk to you.” I finally found the courage to let out. “I have a lot of things to say to you-and I’m sure you miss Siena. We need to talk about what you did.”
“I know.” Christian sighed. “I wanted to give you your space, but I agree-and I know it’s going to be hard for the both of us, but we have to talk about this.”
Hard for the both of us? That was funny because I was the one living with the actual damage. “Serena, I still love you, and I never stopped loving you-
“That’s cute-but we’re not getting back together.” I immediately cut him off. I did not want any misunderstandings as to why I was ready to meet up with him. I loved him so much, I hated him-and I was still confused about whether I wanted to see him or not. The only reason why I was willing to meet up was for Siena and closure.
“Can I at least see Siena?” Christian asked. “I’m okay with whatever you want to make out of me-but please let me see my daughter.”
Christian asking for Siena made me feel like a terrible person. He lived for Siena, and I took her away from him because I was pissed, but what else could I do? Siena needed her mom. “We can meet up, and I’l take her with me.” Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“Really?” He sighed, relieved. “Is there anything she needs?”
“I need her stroller, some clothes-her teddy bear, stuff like that.” I told him. It didn’t felt good, and it felt as if she was moving out, but just like Christian, I could not live without Siena and did not want to be spend at single day without her. “Yes, of course.”
“We should meet up somewhere. I don’t feel like going back there-and I’m meeting Dario after.” I spoke. All I could
hear was a deep breath, but there was nothing he could say. We were not together anymore.
“I have some work to do in the morning. I’ll send you the address” Christian said. “Please get some sleep You shouldn’t be up this late.”
“Neither should yon.”I sighed. It was not my job to worry anymore, but I couldn’t stop thinking about him. “I was worried about you and Siena, but I can go to sleep now.” He spoke
Of course, he was worried. I left in a rush and told him not to contact Siena or me. “Goodnight. I love you. “I suddenly spoke without realizing my words, but it was too late to turn back. I was surprised by my own words and immediately hung up the phone.
I love you?
What was I even thinking? He did not deserve to hear those words, not after his actions.
After the phone call with Christian, I felt more at ease and could easily sleep through the night. Siena did the same and slept like a rose until I woke her up in the morning.
“Siena,” I whispered as I picked her up and stared into her brown eyes. “Do you want to see daddy today?” I asked her. Siena yawned and leaned her head against my shoulder.
“I feel the same way, I mumbled before I made my way downstairs. “Good morning” Lita greeted me and held Siena’s bottle in her hands. “I was not going to starve her.” I rolled my eyes at her.
The help was nice, but I was sick and tired of her pretending like I wasn’t being capable of being a good mom. “I know you weren’t, but I want to feed both of my babies, give her to me and sit down.” Lita spoke and grabbed her from my arms.
“You need to have a big breakfast.” She smiled at me while the cook walked in and placed several plates on the table. “You didn’t eat since yesterday. I don’t like that.” She spoke and gave Siena her bottle.
“You look a bit better!” Beau smiled with Luis by his side. “Serena!” Luis yelled and ran into my arms. “I’m so happy to see you!”
“I’m happy to see you too, Luis.” I smiled and pulled him against me. “You look so cute and handsome in your school uniform.”
Luis giggled and nodded his head. “Yes, I do!” He spoke. Considering the circumstances, Luis seemed extremely happy and was usually in a good mood. He was waiting for Vince to get better and truly believed that everything would be fine.
“I’m going to bring him to school-I’ll see you later!” Beau greeted me one last time before he walked out the door with Luis. “I really like Luis. He’s such a good boy.” Lita gushed.
“How about dad?” I wondered. “Does he like Luis?”
If Matteo thought the worse of Beau and called him Garcia poison, I could not imagine how he felt about Luis. “Your dad likes little Luis!” Lita spoke to my surprise. “He says Luis is a bright boy, and he’s so proud of him for being on top of his class!”
“That’s great!” I smiled. All I wanted was for Luis to pick up his life again. “Yes, he was even thinking about adopting him-”
“He can’t. Vince will wake up soon” I ended Lita’s sentence as soon as it started. “Yes, of course.” She nodded her head. “But we have to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.”
I rolled my eyes and ignored her words. Vince would be okay. Vince was a fighter-and would not leave Luis alone. She didn’t even know Vince and never took the time to visit him, so how could she know? “Where are Luke and Carmen?” I changed the subject.
“School, only I’m here, and grandpa is here.” Lita smiled at Siena. Right at that moment, Matteo walked down the stairs and sat down and the kitchen table. His presence made me uncomfortable, mainly due to the comment he made yesterday.
He was right. No one was waiting for a screaming baby. “Serena, I’m thrilled you’re here.” He smiled at me and placed his hand on top of mine.
“Your mom told you I hurt your feelings yesterday. You should know I don’t mean some of the things I say-I love having you here, and I love having Siena here, and I’m so sorry.” He apologized while Lita placed her down on his lap.
“I like the two of you more than I will ever like Beau.” He confessed like it was nothing. My heart dropped, and I almost felt disgusted. Beau was my other half, and here he was, saying he didn’t like him.
“What has he done to you?” I asked Matteo while I munched my food. The better I got to know the Alfonzo’s, the more I began to realize that Matteo wasn’t the perfect man everyone claimed him to be. “It’s not his fault he grew up as a Garcia. You’re the one who gave him away.” I rolled my eyes.
“That’s not the only thing princess, do you know who he’s spending his time with?” Matteo chuckled. “He’s spending his time with Isobel Sala. Do you know how that makes us look?”
“Isobel?” 1 frowned my eyebrows. Matteo didn’t seem that much different from Daniela and the others. “They just happened to cross paths because they both visit Vince. I don’t know what the big deal is.” I shrugged my shoulders.
“Crossed paths at his house?” Matteo scoffed while I was surprised by this new information. “W-what?” 1 stuttered. “Why do you think I asked him to move in? Do you realize how embarrassing it was to hear that they are spending time together?”
“And?” I asked after going through the picture in my head. This was the exact feud I wanted to avoid, which was why I decided not to tell anyone but my little sister about Christian. “Does Beau’s happiness not matter to you?”
Beau, who had always been a cold person, seemed in a good mood lately, and if Isobel was the reason for it so be it. What happened had happened, and it was time to move on. “Of course it does, but I can find him someone else-someone from a proper family. Like you and Christian, for example-”
“Because Christian is a Lamberti, and Lucio is your best friend.” I finished his sentence with a sarcastic smile on my face. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed-but I’m not wearing my ring.”
“I know, but the two of you will be alright. I see the way the two of you look at each other-and Siena. needs mommy and daddy to be together.” He spoke determinedly. Words like these made me question. whether I should keep Christian cheating to myself or not-because Matteo was making him out to be some god, and it made me sick.
“Please don’t be hard on Beau. If Isobel is really the reason why he’s in a good mood-we shouldn’t ruin it.” I told Matteo. “Beau is an adult, and he can make decisions for himself-and the Isobel thing was sad, but she paid for her mistakes.”
Matteo ignored my words and focused his attention on Siena and his food. It took me a while, but I finally got it.
The reason why my parents did not care about me being uneducated was because I had Christian by my side. They probably saw Siena and me as some pawn, so being with Christian only helped their case.
It was then same reason Daniela and all the other girls were so put on hanging out with me, despite knowing they wouldn’t even look at me twice if that was not the case. I was starting to see what Fabio
meant with Siena being a hybrid baby.
Having Siena came with all these weird advantages, and at the end of the day, I was nothing without
Christian.
“Well, anyway-1 have to get her ready. I have plans for today.” I excused myself after realization had hit me and grabbed Siena from Matteo’s hands. “And I need a car.”
“Sure, grab whatever car you want.” Matteo smiled. “Everything here is yours.”
I smiled at his words and thought about Christian. It was the same words he used to say to me. Everything here is yours, don’t even ask.
“Are you going to Christian?” Lita asked. Christian, Christian-everything was always about Christian. “Yes.” 1 forced a smile onto my face.
“Good luck and take that ring back!” Lita cheered me on while I walked away. What part of ‘we broke up’ did they not understand?
I was eager to get out of the house, and even seeing Christian excited me more than being with my parents, so it didn’t take long before I made my way out.
It was so crazy how I’d always wanted parents and was glad to meet them-and that I could’ve gone anywhere but chose to go here, and they still annoyed me. I could barely survive a day, so how did poor Beau survive this?
I drove to the cafe Christian told me to get to and saw him at a table outside.
“Look, Siena, this one is also named after you.” I smiled and looked at her full name on the outdoor sign, but that smile had disappeared when my eyes shifted to Christian. I had the urge to run out the
car so I could run into his arms, but I couldn’t.
I couldn’t be this weak person who would crawl back after the slightest apology-and in order for him to learn his mistakes, this was the unfortunate treatment I had to give him.
Christian seemed just as lifeless as I felt at the moment, and the look on his face hurt my heart. I didn’t like seeing him sad, but he brought it upon himself. “This is not your fault,” I whispered to myself and took a deep breath to gather my courage.
“Whatever you do, you can not forgive him.”
