His Promise: The Mafia’s Babies by C. Tamika

Chapter 151

Chapter 151

“Get in.” Christian ordered me around as usual. He drove all the way over after a simple phone call, and he was not in a good mood. He seemed like the old version of himself.

My eyes moved to the gun in the backseat. What was he up to?

“Oh hell no, I’m not getting in,” I spoke, shocked. “I don’t know what you have planned, but I don’t want to be part of it.”

“That’s a first.” Christian snarled. “Don’t you always want to be part of everything?”

I was not in the mood to argue, and I did not want to cause a scene, so for once, I did what he asked me to do and got into the car. “Happy?”

Christian didn’t say another word and drove off while I stared at him and thought about whatever his problem might be this time. Was it because of the way I left yesterday? Was it because I didn’t answer my phone?

“Are you going to kill me and hide my body in the woods?” I attempted to lift the mood but quickly realized it failed. “No, of course not. Please think for once-why would I physically hurt you?” Christian snapped.

Calm down. It was a joke.

“Serena, you trust me, right?” Christian asked. He sounded miserable and broken. “As long as you don’t give me a reason not to trust you anymore.” I sighed. “Now tell me, where are we going?”

“I remember,” Christian spoke, determined. “You have to be a bit more specific.” I chuckled. He would. often start conversations out of nowhere and expect everyone to know what he was talking about. It was something he used to do all the time, but I thought it was cute.

“The party, I remember.” Christian continued. “The reason why I didn’t remember before was mainly because Dario is irrelevant to my past-but it all came back.”

“It was not Johnny. It was Luca. He was the one who helped him.”

“Wait, what?” I asked, shocked and listened as Christian told me the correct story. At the same time, I was still trying to process that they all threw food over him. That was a low and weak way of bullying him. “So now you’re going over to threaten your cousin because he helped your enemy?”

“You don’t get it, do you?” Christian rolled his eyes. “Don’t you think it’s weird how Luca suddenly showed his big head out of nowhere and tried his hardest to be friends with me-

“Calm down,” I told Christian. “Take a deep breath, relax, and please tell me in a way I can at least understand.”

“I think my uncle send him here to keep an eye on me. Luca had never shown any interest in hanging out with me until you moved in. I’m sure of it.” Christian spoke. His words were finally starting to make sense -and were something we should’ve come up with earlier. Luca made it clear from the very start that he

didn’t really like Christian, so why was he hanging around him?

I knew it was about time to block off the good side of my brains because it wasn’t going anywhere. There was no point in feeling sorry for everyone when all they did was betray me. Sorry for what?

“Do you now understand why we can’t all sit around a big table to talk this out? We can’t trust anyone, you can’t trust anyone. I need you to wake up!” Christian spoke some sense into me.

“D-do you

think he might’ve already known about me?” I wondered. It was a thought which had suddenly. occurred after hearing Berto had probably instructed him to keep an eye on all of us. “Maybe, my dad and my uncle used to tell each other everything-and my dad still used to follow his orders around the time. you were born.”

“But that’s not the point right now,” Christian sighed. “The point is that I know what he’s up to, and I will get the answers out of Luca, one way or another-”

“I agree.” I nodded. “Threaten him, tie him up, give him the Enzo treatment-but we need answers. All I want is for all of this to stop.”

I gulped at my statement, but it was time for things to change. I couldn’t always remain the same sweet girl who wanted to protect everyone. I had to think about what was best for Siena. “I like this side of you.” Christian chuckled.

“I actually think he might be involved with not only Gina’s disappearance but also my brother’s disappearance.”

“Wait, Enzo is missing?” I gasped. He occasionally sent me messages in the past, but now that Christian mentioned it he had been quiet for a long time. “Yes, I’ve been trying to get ahold of him for a while now -but I think I finally understand why he’s not answering his phone.”

“Oh,” I muttered as my mind went to Gina. I didn’t mind her being out of the picture.

“So he got rid of Gina? Why is that a problem?” I frowned. I couldn’t care less about her. “I know you don’t care about her, and neither do I, but she disappeared right after we got back together. Do you know how it makes us look?”

“It will look like we had something to do with it and ruin our name,” I concluded. Getting rid of Enzo would probably bring around the same damage. Lucio was dying to have him at the family reunion and would literally die if he couldn’t make it. Berto Lamberti was a monster. How could he even do something like that to his younger brother?

“No Gio today?” I sighed. “I mean, I’m not as crazy as him, so I don’t know if I can be of any help.”

“Are you saying I’m crazy?” Christian asked with an offended look on his face. What was his issue today? “You know what, don’t answer that question. He’s at the hospital with Dana and I’m not letting him miss the birth of his first son because of my uncle who is supposed to be dead.”

“I see,” 1 muttered. “And I do think you’re crazy, but so am 1, just not as crazy as Gio.”

I wasn’t against the idea of getting more information out of Luca, and Christian was right. It all seemed very suspicious. There was one thing I couldn’t understand, and that was why Christian didn’t want to bring up

the topic with Lucio or Franco. All of this could’ve been handled way quicker if he didn’t had do this alone.

He claimed it was because he didn’t want his family to feel sorry for Berto, but something told me that would not be an issue. This man seemed worse than Fabio,

“We’re here,” Christian spoke as he stopped the car. “And so is Johnny.”

He turned his head so he could reach for the gun in the backseat while I gave him a flustered look. “J- johnny?” I stuttered. “Do you really think he won’t do anything to hurt you? Luca is his little brother-”

“No, he’s not,” Christian spoke as he stepped out of the car. “I’ve been more like a brother to him than

Luca has ever been. No one wants to have that brat as their little brother.”

“But you’re right.” Christian suddenly had a change of mind. “They’re still family, but I have a plan. I have a plan to get Luca to talk.”

“Hold up!” I called out and tried to keep up with Christian. “What’s the plan? What if you’re uncle is staying at his house?”

Christian wrapped his arm around my waist and pushed me towards the door. “My uncle is not that stupid. and the plan is to get answers out of him. That’s the only plan. Luca doesn’t like seeing his big brother in pain.”

It felt horrible to know that Christian saw Johnny’s presence as an opportunity to get answers out of Luca and that I agreed to all of this. What was wrong with me?

“Christian.” Luca glared as he opened the door before his eyes moved towards me. “And Serena.” He smiled. “I heard you got back together with this idiot. Come in.”

Luca stepped aside so we could get into the house. “Is anyone else here?” Christian asked. “No, just Johnny,” Luca replied as his eyes slowly landed on Christian’s gun.

“Oh, don’t worry, that’s not for you.” Christian chuckled and walked further while I followed behind him. “I came here to get to the bottom of things.”

“What things?” Luca asked.

“Hey, Johnny!” Christian greeted his cousin. Johnny turned around and made his way towards me. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it. “I’m sorry for the way I treated you-”

“It’s okay.” I sighed. I already felt bad enough, and the last thing I needed was an apology. “Christian, why are you here?” Luca asked. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Christian raised the gun and held a surprised Johnny in a chokehold as he held the gun against his head. “W-what are you doing?” Johnny stuttered, confused. He probably didn’t have anything to do with this. but he still got involved. “Sorry cousin, wrong place at the wrong time-don’t take it personally,” Christian

told him.

Luca looked uneasy and wasn’t sure of what to do. “Why are you here?” He repeated, but all Christian did was shrug his shoulders. “Let’s play a game. I want you to tell me why you think I’m here.”

“Christian, stop it,” Johnny spoke, defeated. “I know the two of you don’t get along, but if you’re holding a gun to my head, to get on his nerves-you can stop it.”

“No,” Christian growled. “I have questions, and you’ll be alright because Luca cares about you, and he will answer them.”

“You won’t not hurt him. He’s your cousin.” Luca spoke with a hint of uncertainty in his voice. Christian smacked the bag of the gun against Johnny’s temple to show him otherwise. “Ow, what the fuck is your problem?” Johnny asked.

“Please stop.” Luca pleaded. Christian’s actions were definitely a wake-up call because he did not seem that confident anymore. “I don’t know what I’ve done, but please stop. I’m begging you, please!”

It was weird to see Luca so vulnerable. He wasn’t even that scared when Fabio’s men held a gun to his head, and he was even willing to lose his life-but he cared about Johnny and didn’t want to see him in

pain.

“Luca, you care about this family, right?” Christian asked. “I don’t know anything. I-I don’t know!” Luca stuttered. Christian hadn’t even asked him a question or informed him about the issue, but Luca seemed to be perfectly aware.

“Yes, you do,” Christian spoke. “You obviously know why I’m here. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be like this. Now tell me, where is he?”

Johnny seemed frightened, but not by Christian, and it was probably because he knew how much he meant to Christian. Christian knew he could take a hit, but he would never kill him. Not when Johnny was one of the few who was loyal to him. “Serena, please do something-stop him.” Luca pleaded, but I shook my head.

“No, we know he’s still alive, so you are going to tell us everything about him, Dario, or where the hell you hid Enzo and Gina!” I demanded. “Christian might not go as far as killing you, but you’re not my cousin- so unless you work along. I’ll snatch that gun from his hands and kill both of you!”

“Look at you.” Christian chuckled. “I really like this new side of you.”

Luca seemed terrified, and the thought of that sick man manipulating Dario and Luca who had lost all his confidence-was worrisome. Christian was right. That man hadn’t even shown his face yet, but he was already a big issue. Berto Lamberti was an issue we had to deal with, for once and for all.

How was I suppose to take over Cesca’s position and protect Siena if this sick and twisted man would ruin everything?

“Luca, what are they talking about?” Johnny asked. “Who is still alive? I’m a bit lost, so please!”

“I don’t know,” Luca whispered. “I don’t have anything to tell you. I don’t know-

“Okay.” I sighed, annoyed, and grabbed the gun from Christian’s hand. “Serena, wha-” Christian spoke, but before he could finish his sentence, I fired the gun and watched as a bullet went through the wall.

“You have to excuse me for this. I’m new at this kind of stuff.” I apologized. “Next is Johnny’s leg, but my shooting skills suck-so it might be his balls. It depends on you.”

“W-what!” Johnny exclaimed. I looked at Christian for confirmation, and he nodded his head with a satisfied smile on his face. “What she said, good job Serena.”

“You see?” I hummed and smirked at Luca. Cesca was wrong. Maybe I could get used to this. “Luca, talk!” Johnny yelled at him. “I’m not going to lose my balls because of you, and I don’t know what the hell you’ve been up to, but you better start talking!”

“I-I can’t.” Luca breathed as he stepped back in shock. “Talk!” Johnny shouted.

“He told me not to!” Luca broke down and dropped to the floor. “I promise I didn’t mean to, he came back into my life, and I missed him so much, but then he got out of control and started talking about getting rid of the family!” He cried. Christian and I knew exactly who he was talking about, but Johnny was still confused.

“I never wanted to hurt anyone, and I told him to stop, but he wouldn’t let me. I’m so sorry, Christian!” Luca confessed. I had never seen him like this and didn’t even know he was capable of crying. The same jokester with the stuck-up and playful personality was capable of showing tears.

“Who?” Johnny asked as everyone ignored him. I turned my head to look at Christian, who did not move at single inch and was as frozen as stone. “Where’s my brother?” Christian sighed. “Where’s Enzo?”

“I’m sorry.” Luca cried. “He told me we had to get rid of all of you so that everything could get back to normal. You, Gio, and Enzo-I’m sorry!”

“No,” Christian whispered. “You’re lying. Where is my brother!”

“He promised me to spare Serena and Siena. He told us Serena is just like us-”

“Where is my brother?” Christian asked word for word and pulled the gun from my hands so he could point it at Luca. “You’re going to tell me what happened to my brother. Where is my brother!”

“I don’t know.” Luca sighed. “He won’t tell us about the bodies. We only have to bring them to him —”

“What bodies!” Christian freaked out. “Oh my god,” I whispered as I finally understood what was going on. “Luca, what bodies!”

“What the hell are you guys talking about?”Johnny asked. He looked back and forth between all of us and tried his hardest to follow the conversation.

“H-he said you would get rid of me if I didn’t work along. I’m so sorry.” Luca apologized over and over. I placed my hand on Christian’s shoulder to calm him down, but all I could see were his tearful eyes. “What did you and Dario do to my brother?”

“He said he was going to get rid of him, both him and the girl to put you in a trap. I never meant for it to go this far, and neither did Dario-but we didn’t have a choice. I’m so sorry.”

“Who are we talking about, and what does Dario Alfonzo has to do with this? Answer me!” Johnny, who had lost all of his patience, yelled out.

“Dad, we’re talking about dad. He’s still alive.” Luca whispered.

“And Dario Alfonzo is our brother.”
