Chapter 0059
Amara froze for a moment. Feeling Tobias's lip on hers, she wasn't sure how to react for the briefest second. Why the hell would he kiss her? And in such an exposed environment, did he not care about his image? Thoughts of such ran through her mind, temporarily dulling out whatever reaction her mind was packing.
Behind them, people who had been watching them dance together, cheered on Tobias's action, thinking he was some suitor who finally got his chance at winning the heart of the one he was courting. The sound was enough to wake Amara up and With lightening speed, she shoved him away and slapped him hard across the cheek.
The sound of her palm hitting his cheek reverberated through the room, causing all the heads to turn towards them.
Just as quickly as the room had erupted in cheers, it became quite. Tobias looked stunned and his cheek stung, but the anger in Amara's gaze was enough to distract him from the pain. "You..." She was about to curse at him when the gaze of Gemini and other attendants of the party became far too obvious.
They were watching her, gauging her next moves and seeing how she'd handle such a situation that she landed herself in and Amara knew the best reaction wouldn't be getting angry. Gritting her teeth, she threw Tobias one final nasty glare, before turning around and storming off.
The sound of her heels clicking against the marble floors of the building echoed and a sense of despondency fell upon Tobias as he watched her back disappear into the crowd.
What was wrong with this week, he thought. No, it wasn't this week, even since way before this week there have been a malfunction in the way he thought about Amara. It all started from the moment she moved out. He noticed her absence and missed her presence far more than he wanted to.
Then, the night they spent together was almost as if the universe was rubbing what he had lost straight in his face. Not only did he see a part of Amara that surprised him in a delectable way, but he also learned that he harbored desires for her, that were hard for him to control...
Especially when maggots such as the men in this room kept looking at her like she was a freaking piece of meat.
"Tobias?" Gemini's voice broke through his thoughts and he turned to face the older lady.
"Madam Sinclair,"
"That slap looked pretty harsh." Gemini commented.
"It was," Tobias replied with a bitter smile. "But it's deserved."
Gemini chuckled and smiled. "I'm not sure what the situation between you two is, but if it's serious, then I think it'd be best if you both tried sorting it out. After all, you'd both be working together in the future." The smile on Tobias's lips faltered. "Yes,"
"Don't worry, whatever you did, I'm sure Ms. Miller isn't someone who holds grudges. It'd be alright."
Tobias couldn't bring himself to respond to this, because even though he knew that part of what Gemini had said was right, he also knew that Amara was a woman who did not forgive and forget.
That freaking idiot, Amara cursed in her mind as she stormed back to the parking lot, pissed.
She was trying to keep calm in the face of the situation, but it was proving to be very difficult seeing how much Tobias's stupidity was annoying her.
What was he thinking kissing her in front of everyone? In fact, what was he even thinking kissing her, what the hell?!
The nerve of him, Amara couldn't believe the audacity Tobias had.
"Amara!"
Amara didn't want to turn around and acknowledge the call, but she did, only to have some of her anger fading when she saw Bethany coming up to her. "Bethany,"
"Are you okay," Bethany careful took her hand when she got to stand in front of Amara. "Back there, you looked troubled and..."
Amara smiles sweetly at the
younger female's worry. Some
people would have instantly demanded an explanation, but not Bethany. She was genuinely worried and it made Amara's heart soften.
"I'm fine," She reassured and squeezed Bethany's hand. "I'm sorry for troubling you."
"Not at all, but if you really wish to apologize, allow me to drop you off."
"Thank you,"
"It's the least I can do, come along." Bethany said and led the way.
As soon as the women got to the car, Bethany started the car and began driving to the location Amara had given her. All the while, Amara remained silent, resting her hand on
the door and staring out the window. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.

As the car ride progressed, Bethany caught her lost expression a couple of times and it was safe to say that expression did not settle well with the younger female.
"You know," She began, deciding to
say something that'd lighten the mood. "I've know Tobias for a little while now. He might seem cold, unpredictable and self centered, but he's a good man," She side glanced at Amara for a few seconds before continuing. "You both looked good on the dance floor, before...well, whatever that was that happened. And oh, he also just got divorced recently, you both should meet up and try something, I'm sure you both would be the perfect match."
Bethany suggested and from a single glance, Amara could tell the naïve female was already building a love story for she and Tobias in her flower filled mind.
She chuckled, but it was more bitter than happy. "You really think that?"
"Yes. You both look like the type of couple who'd have many children and live a long happy life after-"
"Tobias is my ex husband."
Amara's revelation had Bethany stepping on the breaks so hard that the tires screeched and the car came to an instant stop.
Thankfully there was no other car behind them.
"H-husband?" Bethany was shocked. "Ex husband? When? Why? How?!"
Amara chuckled once again. "One question at a time, Beth."
"You and Tobias...were married?"
Amara nodded faintly and Bethany could tell that things did not end on a good note.
"Such a perfect couple," She muttered. "Why...why did you guys get a divorce?"
He didn't love me.
Amara blinked the obvious answer away and smiled faintly.
"Not everything's as perfect as they look on the surface, Bethany, not all marriages has an happily ever after."
