His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Chapter 66 Right up ahead, just a few steps away from them. Jareth and Evadne were coming over side by side, one tall and handsome, the other delicate and coldly beautiful. What a picture-perfect pair they made. A twitch of the brows from Thaddeus as he noticed the shopping bag in Jareth’s hand. Were they shopping together? Evadne didn’t notice Thaddeus and Acacia standing there; she was listening to Jareth’s jokes, the two of them sharing a laugh, looking rather merry. For some reason, Thaddeus felt a sudden heaviness in his heart, his eyes a little misty. Jareth seemed to feel the change in atmosphere, suddenly looking up, eyes wide. “Thaddeus? What are you doing here?” Only now did Evadne notice Thaddeus, his face clouded over. Her gaze flickered over Acacia in his arms, a cold sneer on her lips. Acacia knew this was her chance. She held onto Thaddeus tightly, glaring at Evadne as if staking her claim. But Evadne paid her no mind. Maybe in the past, she would have been jealous, but now she felt strangely calm. A rotten man and a cheap woman, what a fitting pair! “I should be asking you that, Jareth.” Thaddeus’ voice was low and his face was dark. “I’m shopping, you know I love shopping.” Jareth said with a laugh, seemingly oblivious to the impending trouble. Evadne thought he was right; she’d never met a man who loved shopping more than Jareth. He was chatting with her, but his eyes kept darting toward the shop windows. She thought if she didn’t have other things to do, he would probably check every store. But to Thaddeus, Jareth’s words felt like a provocation. “Who knew, Ms. Evadne and Mr. Jareth, that you two are so chummy in private, even going shopping together.” Acacia snuggled into Thaddeus’ arms saying, “Thaddeus, let’s go, don’t bother their date.” Evadne’s gaze was cold, and Jareth’s heart ski pped a beat at Acacia’s words.

Unexpectedly, Thaddeus pushed Acacia away and quickly walked up to Evadne. “Thaddeus!” Acacia called out to him, but he didn’t turn back, leaving her fuming.

Evadne had to look up at his icy gaze. Even in heels, he still towered over her. “What’s this about?” Thaddeus asked coldly. “I’m just shopping. What’s wrong with that?” Evadne replied nonchalantly. “We just happened to run into each other, should I have taken a detour?” “You’re shopping with him?” Thaddeus’ gaze darkened, and his voice deepened. “Hmph, what’s wrong with shopping with her? I’m not a wolf.” Jareth spoke out in Evadne’s defense, clearly not pleased. Thaddeus gritted his teeth. “A wolf in sheep’s clothing!” “Ouch!” Jareth frowned at the insult. “Thaddeus, who I shop with and hang out with, is my business. We’re divorced, and you’re still fussing over my social life. That’s absurd.” Evadne ignored the anger in his eyes. Was he angry? What for? Was he jealous seeing her with Jareth? Impossible, Thaddeus didn’t love her. He wouldn’t be jealous just because she was shopping with another man. “Our divorce isn’t final yet. You’re openly shopping with my friend. What will people think of the Abernathy and Jareth families? You’re asking for trouble.” Thaddeus’ chest felt heavy, his eyes redder. Evadne felt like she’d heard a joke, but it wasn’t funny at all. “Thaddeus, besides the Abernathy family, who else knows I’m your wife?” Thaddeus’ eyes widened, his turmoil suddenly intensifying. “We’ve been married for three years. Have you ever shown me off in public? Have you introduced me to your friends? Did you ever throw a wedding for me?” Evadne laughed brilliantly as if to annoy him on purpose. “Don’t worry, even if I put my face on the big screen outside the mall, no one would know that I am your ex-wife, Thaddeus. As for whether I’m good enough for you, you’re overthinking it. Let’s go our separate ways from now on. If we meet again, let’s pretend we don’t know each other.”

With that, Evadne walked past Thaddeus decisively. Jareth thought for a second. He decided to leave his buddy hanging and follow the woman he was into. Thaddeus glared at Jareth’s retreating figure, his breath turning cold, his knuckles turning white, and his face falling. Somehow, he felt like his treasure was stolen when he wasn’t looking. Jareth, you ba stard! “Thaddeus, I’m feeling a bit suffocated…” Acacia drew closer again, clinging onto his arm and resting her head on his shoulder. “Since we’re already here, why not accompany me shopping. You’ve never been shopping with me. Look, Jareth is shopping with Ms. Ilana…” Thaddeus glared ahead, his gaze following Evadne like a heat-seeking missile. “Fine.” Evadne was striding forward briskly, her face not looking too good. Running into an ex-husband, what a mood killer! “Hey,” She called out suddenly. “Yep, I’m here,” Jareth replied promptly, his eyes sparkling bright. “I’m in a bad mood. Tell me a few more jokes.” Jareth couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry. “I could, but if you really want to cheer up, how about I take you to a bar tonight?” “No need. I don’t drink with men I’m not close with.” Evadne gave him a frosty look. “And besides, aren’t you afraid that hanging around me will affect your friendship with Thaddeus?” 15:18 “You guys are already divorced, even if the process isn’t done yet, it’s still a fact. I didn’t do anything morally wrong. so why the hell is Thaddeus beefing with me? I can’t play this game!” Jareth grumbled, a pout on his face. At this moment, Evadne noticed a sapphire necklace displayed in the window of a jewelry store, which was gleaming under the light. She couldn’t resist but walk into the store. Jareth followed closely behind her.

“Can I have a look at this necklace?” “Ma’am, you’ve got great taste! This necklace is a limited edition piece from our ‘Deep Sea Starry Sky’ series launched this summer. We only have five of these nationwide.” The saleswoman introduced enthusiastically as she took the sapphire necklace out of the display case. Evadne was quite knowledgeable about jewelry and could tell at a glance that the quality of the sapphire was just mediocre, not top-notch. However, the necklace’s cutting and design were exceptional, the designer was clearly gifted. The brand’s name made the price of this necklace exceed 100,000 dollars. “Do you like it?” Jareth sat on a small chair, one leg bent, the other straight out. His hand was holding his face, with a playful smile in his eyes, and a relaxed expression on his thin lips. The saleswoman was stunned, this woman was gorgeously envy-inducing, and this man was stunningly handsome! What a match! “Hmm.” Evadne admired the necklace and responded softly. “You should try it on,” Jareth suggested. “Wow! This necklace is so beautiful! I love it!” Acacia’s voice suddenly came, sharp and delicate, causing Evadne and Jareth to frown. She turned her head and looked coldly at Acacia, who was holding Thaddeus’ hand and approaching. The saleswoman was shocked, her mouth agape. Good heavens! Wasn’t this Mr. Thaddeus? His demeanor was simply flawless! But the woman next to him, in terms of dress or looks, was far behind the other refreshing beauty in front of them. “Ugh, why are these two following us again,” Jareth murmured unhappily. Thaddeus’ eyes were icy, constantly staring at Evadne. “Thaddeus, I really like this necklace… It’s so beautiful, can you buy it for me?” Acacia, acting like a little girl, shook Thaddeus’ arm, her lips pouting as if begging him. Jareth got goosebumps just looking at them. Thaddeus’ eyes narrowed, his lips tightly shut. In the past, whatever Acacia said was beautiful,

whatever she liked, he would silently buy and give it to her. But now, seeing this necklace, all he could think of was that humiliating auction and the Ruby Enigma that he had forever locked away. So, Thaddeus hesitated. His lack of reaction made Acacia’s smile gradually awkward. “I’m getting this.” Jareth quickly took out a black card and handed it to the saleswoman. “Wrap it up nicely. I’m giving it to this lady.” Evadne’s eyes widened. Before she could say anything, another black credit card was presented in front of her. “Charge it. I want this necklace.” Thaddeus’ eyes were deep as he glanced at Evadne.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
