Chapter 3000
Fergus was stunned by what she said.
"Fergus, I kind of like him," Shelly continued. "Which is why I want you to find a woman you love and who loves you back."
Realization dawned on Fergus. "Why do you like my boss? Do you have any idea how wealthy his family is? Shelly, we are from the same hometown, and I won't lie to you. There are more women who love my boss than you can count."
"I know that, Fergus. It's not that I can't see the gap between me and him, but I can't help it. Sometimes, feelings can be such a nuisance."
"Does he know you have a kid?" he asked. "His family probably won't accept a single mother as a match for their son, right?"
"Who told you that I want to marry him?"
"All right! I see that you won't give up until the last moment!"
"That's not it. I just want things to run their course. I don't intend on doing anything."
"So you are just going to wait? That's so silly!" he exclaimed.
Shelly did not know what to say.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
She was not just waiting around like Fergus had assumed because she had her own life and her own work.
"Fergus, I need to put my child to sleep. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up for now."
"Okay! We're still friends, right?"
"Of course, I just didn't want to keep things from you anymore."
"Thank you for being honest with me. Honestly, I know how impressive my boss is. If I was a woman, I'd be captivated by him, too. But I'm the type of person who tends to feel inferior and would probably never dare express my feelings," Fergus said self-deprecatingly.
"I haven't told him either."
"You're also an excellent woman. If you want to pursue him, you should try. Who knows? Maybe he likes you, too." Fergus felt slightly better after accepting the situation. He realized that, even if he could not be in a romantic relationship with Shelly, he still wanted to be friends with her.
"Let's see how things go in the future. I'm not in a hurry."
"Sure. I'll let you get back to putting your child to sleep!"
After hanging up the phone, Shelly gave her daughter a toy and went to take a shower.
Audrey could not roll over or crawl yet, so wherever Shelly put her, she would play there, making it easier on Shelly.
The next day, Shelly took the day off.
She bought some fruits and took a taxi to Elliot's mansion.
"Shelly, you've been busy lately, right? It's been a while since you came to see Aiden," Avery said with a smile.
Shelly nodded shyly. "I've been a bit busy, but no matter how busy I am in the future, I'll always make time to see Aiden more often."
"It's all right. I understand. Women have their own careers, and that's important too," Avery said. She herself had prioritized her career when she was younger.
"Is Aiden feeling alright? No fever?" Shelly touched her son's forehead, and his temperature seemed normal.
"No, he doesn't have a fever. He
suddenly started having a runny
nose and even vomited when he had
milk. He stopped spitting his food.
now." Avery told Shelly Aiden's symptoms. "I gave him cold
up
medicine last night, and, today, his runny nose has improved slightly. I gave him some mushed fruit today because he didn't want to drink milk."
Aiden's symptoms were much milder than Audrey's, and with so many people taking care of him, Shelly felt reassured.
"Yeah, I haven't seen him for half a
month, and he seems to have grown so much!" Shelly held her son, feeling that he was much heavier than Audrey. "Do you usually only give him milk, or does he eat anything else?" Shelly sought advice from Avery.
