Chapter 341
Dillon felt that Casper was at a disadvantage in this whole love affair. Was he falling for Eliza again? What good would it do if she was dead set on not giving them another shot?
"I think Mr. Casper hasn't figured out how to get along with Eliza. Seriously, which woman doesn't like a gentleman?" Dillon remarked.
Caroline nodded in agreement. "Which woman would want to be with an overbearing, unreasonable guy, no matter how powerful he is? It just wouldn't work."
"Looks like they're really not gonna make it," she added, knowing her brother well enough. Memory loss or not, his personality and temper were deeply ingrained.
In business, Casper knew how to bide his time and keep a low profile. Even though Zach was still comfortably running Welton International, Casper wasn't in a rush. He knew that what was his would eventually come back to him-it was just a matter of time.
But when it came to matters of the heart? They were way more complicated. Once a woman's heart is broken, it's incredibly tough to mend. Maybe after Casper saved Eliza and her son multiple times, her hatred for him lessened, and she was even willing to forgive the pain he caused. But the chances of her taking that leap again were slim.
Dillon and Caroline were on the same page. Maybe starting fresh and finding happiness in their own ways wasn't such a bad idea after all.
The emergency room light went off, and Casper was wheeled out. The doctor mentioned that the situation wasn't too bad-there was no permanent damage, but he needed to rest and detox. Mae and Katie both touched their necks and breathed a sigh of relief. "Casper's okay; we can finally relax," Mae said. Just as her lips were about to form a smile, Caroline's icy stare stopped her, and she quickly lowered her head.
Caroline noticed Mae's reaction. Despite her lingering complaints, Caroline decided not to push further. "You two should head back."
"Alright, alright," they eagerly agreed, almost rushing to leave. "We'll leave Casper in your care then."
The 'mother and daughter' duo quickly disappeared down the hallway.
Casper woke up after being pushed back to his ward, feeling like his body had been through a grinder. Every muscle screamed in exhaustion, and his head throbbed. He barely lifted his eyelids and saw Ditton and Caroline standing there.

"Are you two standing here like sentinels worried I might drop dead?" he quipped with a
self-deprecating smile. "Relax, I'm
not that easy to kill."
"Is Katie into you?" Caroline asked, crossing her arms and eyeing him intently. "Didn't you notice her intentions?"
"Aunt Mae asked me to take Katie
out, and I couldn't refuse. How was I supposed to know she'd drug me?" he said. Katie and Mae are not blood relatives. Katie, being Mae's
stepdaughter, made them
somewhat related. Who

Caroline smirked. "The doctor said it's a good thing some of the drugs wore off. Otherwise, you might've ended up impotent and childless."
"It's not that serious," Casper muttered, knowing his body well.
Caroline took a deep breath, her gaze turning playful. "So, who was the woman who gave you the antidote?"
Casper paused, pinching the bridge of his nose. That woman...
"I don't remember," he finally said.
"You don't remember?" Caroline nearly laughed. "You better remember, or you might get a police summons one day and not even know what you did."
