Chapter 271
Their destination was a quaint little island out at sea. It was untouched by development, a hidden gem. The scenery was breathtaking, and every now and then, you could spot a few people either frolicking around or casting their fishing lines. Aaron was so patient throughout, entertaining Brock with ease. Eliza, on the other hand, spent most of her time staring off into the vast ocean, lost in her thoughts.
"Eliza, let's head to the island for a bit. We can do some fishing," Aaron suggested, his face lighting up with a gentle smile.
Eliza returned his smile. "Sounds good."
The yacht soon docked at the island. Eliza was caught off guard when she saw Casper there. He was sitting leisurely, fishing rod in hand, like an old fisherman enjoying his day.
"What's going on?" Aaron noticed Eliza freeze. Following her gaze, he spotted Casper and squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'm here."
"Let's keep our distance from him."
"Alright, let's head over there."
Aaron, cradling Brock in one arm and holding Eliza's hand with the other, moved to another part of the rocky shore. They weren't too far away from Casper and still within sight of each other.
"Mr. Casper, Aaron... he did that on purpose, didn't he?" Dillon fumed, watching the scene unfold.
Casper remained calm, giving them a fleeting glance before focusing back on his fishing. He noticed the float bobbing and pulled hard. "Got one."
"Mr. Casper, you've learned to bite your tongue." Dillon observed the 'family of three' from a distance. "They look more like a family."
Casper didn't respond, refusing to look their way again. He was worried he wouldn't be able to hold back and would end up confronting Aaron. Was it really just a coincidence to run into each other on this deserted island? Casper wasn't that naive. "Dillon, keep a close eye on Eliza and the kid. Aaron isn't as harmless as he seems."
Dillon immediately tensed. "What's he planning? Murder?"
"Just be careful. It's best if nothing happens." Casper hoped he was just being paranoid.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Brock watched Casper reel in fish after fish and was green with envy, so he kept clamoring. "I want fish. I want fish!"
"Brock, I will get you a fishing rod, and we can fish too, okay?" Aaron said patiently.
Brock clapped his hands in excitement. "Yes, yes!"
Eliza didn't want Aaron to spoil
Brock too much and tried to intervene. "Don't bother with it. think the weather is changing. Let's hang out for a bit and then head back home."
"It's okay. We rarely get to go out like this. Let's not upset the little guy."
Aaron hopped down the rocks with a few quick strides. As he passed by the rock where Casper was fishing, he deliberately stopped and approached him. "What a coincidence."
"Is it?" Casper baited his hook and cast it, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Dr. Martin, did you plan to be here at the same time as me?"
Aaron chuckled. "Casper, you're just too sharp."
"These past days, I've been
pondering why you're doing all this. What else have you done?" Casper lifted his eyelids, staring at Aaron standing beside him. "The reason... can't really be because of May, can it?
"You don't deserve to say her name." Aaron's face darkened instantly.
Casper immediately got it. Aaron really was doing all of this because of May.
"You blame May's death on me. Don't you think that's absurd? She jumped off the building carrying your child, not mine. After all these years, haven't you thought to look for the reason within yourself?"
Aaron had laid all the blame at Casper's feet.
