Champagne and red wine
“Gregory!!”Beatrice’s eyes shoots out in terror.
She rushed out of the car and moved to where he was lying on the ground.
“Gregory.. Gregory..”she slaps his cheeks.
His eyes were gradually closing up.
“Oh, no, Gregory.. don’t close your eyes… rage, rage against the dying of the light, Gregory!!”tears streamed out of her eyes.
That moment, the lines in a poem written by Dylan Thomas popped into her head.
He tried to speak but he only vomited blood.
He wanted to tell her he really loves her but he has just been a coward not to admit that.
He wanted to use his last breath to at least, get over his fear.
“Boss!! Boss!!! Oh, no!! Boss!!!”
“Fvcking call the ambulance here!!!”Beatrice screamed.
“O-okay..”he typed 911 on his phone’s keyboard and began calling them.
He gave them directions of the place they were.
“Gregory..”Beatrice sobbed.
“Gregory.. please don’t die on me.. Gregory..”she sobbed.
His fingers itched beside him. He wanted to lift them up to touch her face but they were too weak to even move an half inch.
He finds it disappointing that he is going to die that moment too.
He has people he still wishes to see – Melinda, Alyssa… and.. he looks up at Beatrice.
And her. He hope they would meet in another lifetime where he would confidently tell her he likes her.. he doesn’t know how.. but he does.
He smiled weakly at her before shutting his eyes, permanently.
“Gregory!!!!”she yelled.
“Gregory… please..”she placed her head on his.
“Gregory..”she sniffed.
The guy came to put two fingers on his neck to check his pulse.
“He is still breathing, right?.”Beatrice looked up at him, hoping to get the positive answer.
The guy shook his head.
“I don’t know, I am not a doctor.”
Beatrice scoffed.
Why did he checked his pulse then?.
Beatrice placed her fingers on his neck.
“Is he breathing?”
“I don’t know, I don’t know!!!”Beatrice sobbed.
Or, maybe, she just didn’t want to know.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
She just want him alive.
She doesn’t wanna know if he is still breathing or not..
She just want to hold on to the fact that he would still be alive.
Soon, an ambulance van arrived.
Gregory was placed on a stretcher and wheeled inside the van.
Different cars arrived afterwards.
They marched down.
Few ran to where Beatrice was and others ran to investigate where the bullet came from.
“Mrs Winslow, we would take you home.”
***
Beatrice walked tho and fro in her room.
She has refused to go to the hospital but came home, instead.
She doesn’t like the sight of blood.
It always makes her uneasy.
“Oh.. be fine.. Gregory..”she fidgeted with her phone.
Melinda had rushed down to the hospital.
She is home with the maids and few guards.
The others are guarding the hospital Gregory is in.
Oh.. damn.
Who could have want him dead?.
She ruffled her hair and took a deep breath down.
The door opened and Alyssa walked in.
“Beatrice..”she breathed out.
Her eyes were swollen.
“No, he is fine. He would wake up. Don’t cry.”Beatrice shook her head.
Alyssa moved to where she was and hugged her.
“What the fuck happened?. Who shot him?.”Alyssa cried.
“I.. I don’t know.”Beatrice sobbed too.
“But, he is going to be fine.. I know that.”she sniffed.
Alyssa nodded.
“Yes. He would be fine. Are you okay?”Alyssa pulled out of the hug to look at her.
Beatrice shook her head.
“I just wanna cry.”she said.
“Me too.”Alyssa replied and they hugged each other again.
**
Amelia popped a bottle of champagne opened and squealed.
“Finally….”she grinned.
She stared at the picture that the man sent to her and zoomed it in.
Seeing him lie down on the floor in his blood makes her so happy.
Finally.. she has removed the obstacle in her way.
She has ordered a hit on Tasha too.
She is the second person that would get in her way.
She dropped her phone and poured the champagne in a glass cup.
“Hahahaha,”she laughed, boisterously and raised the cup up in the air.
“Cheers, Gregory. I hope you’re enjoying your new home.”
She sipped out of her drink and hummed,
“This tastes so good. I guess it recognized the party too.”
**
Tasha scrolled down the news page before scoffing.
Gregory is dead?.
No–maybe hanging on a thread is the right word to use since the news stated he has been rushed to the hospital but not confirmed dead, yet.
She slides the phone to the table.
Of course, she wanted him out of her way but not like this.
Gregory is her nephew, after all.
She rubbed her eyes, tiredly.
Who could have sbot him, then?.
Could.. it be Amelia?.
Well, no way!
Why would she kill her own brother?.
They might hate each other, but sure doesn’t want the other dead.
She pulled the drawer beside her back and brought out her phone.
She unlocked it and went to her contacts list.
She should also get an exclusive detective to work on this case.
What if she or Amelia or her brother is the killer’s next target?.
She scrolled down on the list and as she made to tap on the number, a bullet pass through the glassy wall and hit her at the back of her neck.
She jerked forward, her eyes lits up in pain.
The phone slides out of her grip and her head fell on the table.
**
Henry held his tears in.
He was sitting quietly in the waiting room in the hospital.
It’s been more than four hours that Gregory has been in the theater room now.
Different nurses has been going in and out.
He could only watch, helplessly.
He felt great pain within himself.
What does he feels guilty?.. when he is not the one that hurt his son?.
Why..
A tear prickles out of his right eye and he wiped it off.
“I don’t see any need to cry. My son would be okay.”he reassured himself, once again.
“Sir,”Oscar entered the room back.
He had previously stepped out to take a call.
“What?”
“Miss… Tasha is dead.”he dropped the bombshell.
At that moment, Henry lost it.
“Whaaat?!!!”his breathing hitched.
He started coughing heavily.
“Sir.. are you okay?”
Henry slumped on the ground, heavily.
It’s all over.
**
The music playing on the stereo hightened and Amelia swirled around in a dance.
She finally did it.
“Welcome the new CEO in town!”she yelled.
Her father would have no choice but to make her his successor since she is the only relative of his left.
She carried her glass of red wine and drank from it.
She used champagne to celebrate Gregory’s death and she is now using red wine to celebrate her aunt’s own.
From now here on, her life is going to be blissful.
“Whoooo!!!!”she swirled around.
